Glad to have you here. [even though you are a YANK Disapprove [V]] Wink [;)]  Keep on visiting with us.

Subway time.  Strawed 90% of Pam's flower/shrub beds [and that is a lot].  Fed the geese, fish and deer.  Now time to feed me.  Subway is having a special here.  $5+ for any foot long.  Later.

Hi Cooltech, welcome to the Pot - been around before?  Lots of good guys and gals around here.

Well, it wasn't sugar but rather some wild GRITS!  Laugh [(-D]  Nope, wishful thinking.  School was invaded and infiltrators snuck behind Brutal lines and into the Homeland.  Daughter now had a head full of Mayo (no pickles, though) and wearing a shower cap.  Washed everything in hot water and will keep doing it for a couple days.  Keep your fingers crossed!  Man, I'm itchy, now, too!

Kurt - link doesn't work?  Found book used on Amazon and Ebay - put on wishlist for now since I blew my allowance for this paycheck on that train station.  I hope to play around with that kit tomorrow, need to pick up some pain for the doors and windows.  I think we have some acrylic paint?  Also need some white spray paint I guess to seal the model?

Picked up some burgers and icecream at Culvers for the family.  Watched Lillies of the Field, a GREAT old movie we like to watch around Easter each year and nearly forgot!

Sir James, I would shave, but my wife wouldn't like it!  SO, I'll just sit outside on the porch and eat my banilla, talk to you through your open window.  Did Chewy manage to "cover" that smell for you?

Doug, glad you got your van back, I guess they saved you some money.  Hope your daughter is having a great trip and you folks are havin a fun date-night!

Brent, why don't you and S-Q meet me at Sir James' House?  We can figure out how to turn that Caboose into a Free-ranging RV/Camper!

Can't stay up too late as I have to work tomorrow AM.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Evening

Chief- almost does count, plus we got our grass watered without the storms.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]just jump right in,watch out though or the Chief will try to get you to eat grits, around here they use grits to fill potholes so you can just guess what it does to your insides.

I ran a couple of lionels today since I got the BCRs I don't have to run those other things anymore. CTT is done, where is the next one? Brutus,Kurt, and Doug if your in the neighborhood stop in.        S.J.

Okay, Sir James I - I'll be right over!  Just watched Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers.  One of the Saucers crashed into a big train station - too bad they didn't show any trains in this one.  They used a Lionel train in The Black Scorpion, another sci fi movie with stop-motion animation stuff in it.

Evening all

Nice to have a day off.  The day started with heavy rains so I did not do much outside work.  Did a little PM on the cars and truck.  Replaced a window on a cap for the truck a friend gave me.  Did a little train repair and in general enjoyed myself.  To top it off had homemade pizza for supper with a Moleson. MMMMM.

Jim- Too bad about the car damage.  I’ve got stuff hanging on the walls of my garage too, and I would be upset if any of it hit my car.  Don’t shave because of the lice.  My bride is also a school nurse and lice is a fact of public life around kids.  A “HeadCheck” is not uncommon.  RID does the trick to get rid of the lice.  CVS or Walmart carries the stuff.  Follow the directions on the package.

Dennis- I can understand the desire to move South.  The year I was assigned in Oak Ridge Tennessee I fell in love with the area.  The mountains, the lakes the people the weather were all very inviting.

Cooltech- Welcome, we even talk about trains on occasion.

Brent- When we were in Glacier Natl. Park last year, there was a motel where you could rent a “cabin” that was a converted from a caboose.  They were neat, but the bride said “don’t even think about it”

God’s blessings to all

Jim

Evening all!

Thought I'd check in although there's not much new happening as of late.  Still waiting to get back my Legacy SD40 from the LHS.  The previously mentioned sound problems didn't magicly fix themselves so she's in for repairs.  So I just stare at the pulsating Legacy light on the base, counting the seconds.  Maybe the call will come tomorrow?

Yes, gas has also skyrocketted here.  At $1.10 a litre it roughly works out to about $4.36 a gallon.  And for those of us driving a Diesel the price is no different.  The Corvair turbo ( which is still in hibernation ) requires Sunoco 94...probably around $1.30 per litre right now.  Yikes!

Wish I could get down to experience York some day.  I should try arranging to stay down in PA after the Hershey fall meet to attend York the week after.  There's a local train swap meet next weekend I'm looking forward to.  I did really well there last fall....it's great when you make 3 trips back to the car to unload your new purchases and still leave with $100 in your pocket.

  Y'all have a great weekend!

Good evening all,

It was cloudy and cool in SE Indiana as we made an incursion into the Ohizone today.  Lucas, one of his good friends, his friend's dad and I went to the Air Force Museum in Dayton.  My wife got us started with a good breakfast of bacon and waffles.  We got there around 10:30 and it was busy.  We toured the WW I section, had lunch in the cafe on-site and checked out the rest after lunch.  Realistically, you could spend two or three days there if you stopped and read each and every display.  We got back before 8 PM and I swept the floors at home.  I checked on the IRL qualifying.  Vision Racing is starting 2 and 3!  H--- just froze over.  If either AJ IV or stepson Ed can win tomorrow, it would be fantastic.  Maybe the good guys (not Team Red nor Team Green) will win.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Brwebster, good to see back on the pot!

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Thanks for the kind words Brent,

Nasty white stuff is now confined to Northern Scotland, we are getting night frosts and the GRIT(ter)S are out.

Welcome Cooltech, haven't you picked your name from an AC Co?Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Going to look at a bungalow in High Lane tomorrow, hope this one meets with the managements approval, we seem to have been house hunting for a century. It's got a large garden with space for a BIG (Lionel) shed.

Petrol is now £1.10 a litre/£5.00 a gallon, That's $9.90 of yours.SoapBox [soapbox]

Chief, we have deer in Lyme Park near here, the herdsman marches them into the high peak late April for the summer grazing. I will probably have to get used to the taste as this diabetes thing begins to bite and I have to eatDinner [dinner] and drink only things that are good for me (but no fun).Confused [%-)] Robinsons are panicking.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and clear 25 degrees. Going up to 50 today, with a lot of sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have to clean out some junk that has been accumulating in the basement and get it ready for trash pickup. Then, I will work in the train room for awhile. Later, this afternoon, I'd like to spend some time outside. Maybe, I'll get some train running time in.

Dining car has rolled in and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Good Morning:

Looks to be a nice sunny day here in Chicagoland.  Yesterday was a tough day, I had to let go two of my staff.  This is the first time I have had to let someone go for reasons not related to their performance.  Made for a couple of difficult discussions.  Not a good way to start the weekend.

Brent:  Good luck with the caboose.  Trains magazine, for a period of time, had an ad for old Penn Central cabooses.  They were $8k each and you had to come and take it away.  The donation of the caboose is really nice.  I hope it works out.  On a unrelated topic, I am seeing a lot of chatter that this may be Joepa's last year.  What do you think?

Marty:  Did you get your GP7s?  I am still waiting for the call from my LHS.

Kurt:  Can you take some pictures of your layout visit?  I am sure there are many who would love to see the club layout.

Cooltech: Sign - Welcome [#welcome]  There is a good group of guys on this thread, don't be a stranger.

Brutus:  Culvers...Dinner [dinner] I love their onion rings!

Everyone have a great weekend.

Regards,

John

Morning.  Cloudy and cooler.  J&J, I love onion rings too.  Breakfast is sausage and egg sandwich [sausage patty size of hamburger with egg on top and lots of mustard].  Even better is sausage and eggs scrambled together.  Now you Yanks will need me to tell you how to cook that one.

#1baberuth73 , welcome.  Another Southerner. Big Smile [:D]  Think we'll call you Baberuth if that is OK.  I use shorted names to help this old mind remember.

Off to Miss Edna's.  Haven't been on a Saturday in over a month.  Have dropped by for short visits during the week.  RT, will see if youor project is done.

Have a great day and God bless all [a bowl of GRITS for all too].

HI GIZ,

Happy first day o TROUT SEASON here in PA.  Going about 4 this afternoon with brother.  It also is the first day o outdoor beer drinking season and burgers and dogs by the outdoor fireplace.  Good times are here again.

Got my Lionel CC Niagara yesterday.  Was MINT in box, was never unwrapped and is unbelieable detailed.  Looks better then the MTH but MTH smokes more.  Runs and sounds great, Lubed it up no oil on siderods, and put grease on the gears.  Ran it on a break in forward 10 laps then backwards at various speeds with LEGACY.  Then had a 2 hr play time and there were NO PILE UPs.  Great nite, came up sat in recliner, ALA CHIEF, and fell asleep.

  Hope all are well.

B GOOD or B GONE,

Good Morning Y'all!

Sir James, happy anniversary!  May you and yours have many more wonderful years together.

Hope everyone is having a great day.  Got plenty on the plate today, so I better get to it.  We have some friends coming up from Florida this coming weekend so I have some honey dos to get out of the way.  SWMBO wants some progress on the layout, so I will have to take care of that.  Also, have to take kids to Chinese classes this afternoon.

God Bless,

Dennis

Marty:  I am soooooo jealous!!.  She looks like a beauty.  Where is mine????

Sir James:  Happy Anniversary! Break out those MTH trains as part of your celebration. Wink [;)]

Laz:  I hope the fish are biting.  I wish I could get outdoors myself.

Good Morning from beautiful Southern Ohio

It is a sunny 50 degrees F, and windy.  Company scheduled for later in the day had to cancel, so it frees up the whole day.  No need to clean and primp the house.  I can now go out and work on the stone wall I'm building and I am installing a motion detection light on the garage.  No trouble, it is just real dark when you go around to the new entrance.  The grandkids have their first T ball practice today so I may go to that.

Laz-Good luck with the trout, the burgers and dogs sound great also!

Take care and stay out of trouble, may God bless

John:  This is more of a Summit type deal, not a club layout.  The plan is to visit each other's layouts and run on the various layouts...I will try to take pictures...but it's up to the discretion of the owner of the layout on whether I can post them or not.  With my really small 1-train layout, I may not fit in...

Sir James:  I remember you saying it on passing at some point....I was going to subggest we ge togther and run trains this weekend, but with you Bride being ill the last couple of weeks and a looming Anniversary decided it was not a good idea...

Greetings All !!

First want to welcome Cooltech, and Baberuth to the Coffee Pot !!! Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

(BTW, I'm the good guy everyones been talking about, Whistling [:-^])

Been busy last few days, with work, train club, and trying to feel better.

I asked a question at train club about running "prototypical operations", everyone seems enthusiastic, but noone wants to start anything. So... decided I would, have done some basic research, have a book on order (Thanks for info Doug), and done some basic planning. Here is my plan.

Wed (next) is monthly meeting night. I have sent 3 emails trying to get schedule preferance info. So on Wed, will announce will have 2 sessions on the following Tues, 1 at 3:00 pm till 6, and another from 7:00 pm till 9:30.
At each session will do some explanations of various jobs and their roles, also show what scale speed is. (measured distance and specified time).

Then on the layout we have 2 main lines, will designate 1 east bound, 1 west bound. Will have a passenger train on each with a designated speed of 60 mph, then depending upon the number of attendees will have freight trains at say, 30 mph, and 45 mph. This will require the trains to have to pass each other and use sidings. Will require that the passenger train make a minimum of 2 loops, (outside track is 6.7 scale miles, inside track is 3.5 that pass train will do 4 loops). Then will change train assignments.

Then will do kind of a debriefing, and see "where" we go from there. By then should have a accurate idea of persons who really want to be involved.

Thursday evening (past) was at the club, and connected the Legacy, TMCC, and DCS systems together.  Everything was running great, then Friday got some information that DCS was not working. ?????   So had to go down last night to check everything out.  Don't know what happened during the day on Friday, but DCS was not working.  So disconnected everything I did, still no go.  Finally, gave up.  This morning got an email this morning that another person was in the process of upgrading the TIU's with new ones.  So I think thats a significant part of the problem.

Anyway, doing FIL's birthday today, work tomorrow, result LITTLE or NO train time.

Lots of wishes for everyone......

Sir James: Happy Anniversary!  (Glad you didn't forget, like someone else)

Doug: Good job with the van !

Brent: Know you'll enjoy the Strausburg trip, have fun in the caboose!  Lots of train history there I'm sure.

Later, got to get busy!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I used to post under the name "baberuth73" but a few months ago I was having trouble logging on to the forum. I do well to tie my shoelaces much less work with computers so I let the wife try to sort it out and she added that stupid #1. I don't like it at all but I'll have to live with it. It started my post count over but, heck, I don't post very often anyway.

Finally!!!

After hearing that Marty got his GP7, I called my LHS to find out about the hold up.  They told me that had both the GP7 and the Legacy system in stock. Tongue [:P]  In the past they have been good about calling when an order has arrived, I don't know what happened this time.  Now I just have to figure out how to get to the store...
