Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our honorees today!  And a wonderful bunch they are!

I had that feeling once, as the basement stairway collapsed under me.  Unfortunately, I managed to dislocate my shoulder in the process, was in an empty house (checking it for a neighbor) and my daughter thought the dog was simply upset because I wasn't home yet (I was calling the dog, hoping my daughter would get curious and check it out).

Breakfast was delish.  Today's my "Friday," and I have a full slate of projects for my day off tomorrow, including a major dyeing project and chemically engraving some railroad cap badges.  Then it's back to the railroad for the weekend.

For now I've got to go find out why someone can't get on the network...

You guys did a great job of decorating the Diner last night. I regret that I wasn't here to lend a hand and help out a bit. Anyway, the place looks mighty nice!

We had a MUGLY (muggy to an ugly degree) day here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and it rained here off an on all day. The humidity here was heavy and oppressive. I reckon it will not be much different here today.

Someone special in Louisville, Kentucky is 21 years old today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!! I hope your day will be a good one at that. I might try giving you and Walt and Paula a call this weekend. Thanks Brian.  I guess we're even now!  Someone remind me to finish the stairs sometime this weekend so nobody else falls.  I'll put up a sign warning of the abrupt change in elevation...

I also brought the neon lights up with me and I'll get to mounting them.  First a quick nap after I get Mook's mug down and ready to fill.

Back up the ladder I go...now I get to play with electricity!

Have a fun night in the basement, Dan.

Sorry I couldn't help decorate this evening. I was out running errands with my mom. Maybe it's just as well. I wouldn't have wanted to get in the way of Dan's hammer.

All of the rain missed us today. Fremont got over an inch and Lincoln did as well. Valley (which is about 10 miles west of Omaha) measured 1.85 inches. In fact, almost the entire state of Nebraska has picked up at least an inch of rain in the last 24 hours with the exception of the extreme eastern edge and one area around Kearney. One measurement from western Nebraska was 11 inches. It seems like it's either feast or famine in this state when it comes to the weather.

Ok, off to bed. Looking forward to the birthday celebrations tomorrow!

EDIT: 10:55 PM

Oops, while I was typing, Brian threw down a rope, so I guess Dan won't be having a fun night in the basement after all.

I need some help in hanging the "Banners" and other Decorations!

Looks like we'll have a very busy day tomorrow.

Afternoon/evening everyone.........

Finally got around to checking in here after a long 24+ hour day on Tuesday.  It would not have been so bad if we didn't get stabbed at the truck wash for two hours waiting to get washed.  (Note to self:  DO NOT run over curbs with the trailer, not good for tires.......)  One more day of on the road practice, then our final road exam and graduation, and on to some one-on-one training for 1-2 months before the CDL road test.......

I'll take some dinner, and then a quiet spot to relax.........

CW you're welcome.  Besides, you've more than earned a break from constant Chef duty.  I think that I'll leave the ladders and wall hanging kits here for tomorrow.

Dan, you are an Angel [angel]!  The salad fixings you've prepared for tonight sound just right for supper tonight.  I'll fix me a large plate, with everything but the black olives.  And no dressing, please.

I've been very busy cleaning.   We have a VERY SPECIAL OCASSION  to celebrate here in the Diner tomorrow.  So, I've been cleaning and baking all afternoon.  The cooking, I'll do tomorrow morning.  What's the very special ocassion, you ask?!?!  Well, it involves three people that we know here on the forums.    Suffice it to say that I'm glad we still have the birthday decorations up!!

Dan, haven't heard/seen any cicadas/crickets yet; but I have seen quite a few fireflys around.

I caught a cicada today before going to work.  He was hanging around in our tree (not Larry) and I let him go.  Too bad I'm not doing a bug collection this year, wait...I'm not in school anymore!

Well summer has started.  Last night I got in my first track event of the summer.  It was the "1/4 mile chase the little SOBs that egged my house at 12:30 AM" sprinting event.  The best part was when they snuck in the back door at their house oh so quietly so as not to wake mom and dad up.  That worked great for them! Cool [8D] UNTIL I started banging on the front door loudly and hitting the doorbell! Shock [:O] That woke up a very angry dad who wanted to know in no uncertain terms why I was doing what I was doing.  After telling him he said that his kids were at a sleep over.  I said they went in the back door.  He looked behind him as mom came dragging up two kids from the basement.  She was even more ticked than dad was.  Big Smile [:D]

Long story short they just got done cleaning up the house, and it turns out two houses down they also egged so they're working on that one now.  I also got a note from mom and dad saying that they're sorry I was inconvenienced and if any damages occurred to let them know and they'd take care of it.  How nice.

CW I'm starved after my strenuous morning so I hope there's lots of CandWiches today!  Now where'd the shade Tree go....

Dan, Very glad you were able to catch those little &%^$#@s!!  We've had similar instances

here over the years, and when police were called, "child" taken into custody, parents say it

can't be theirs. (we had several notes and apologies, but never restitution for damages)

Now about those "sickadas"?! Are you sure you don't need to be in quarentine? Mischief [:-,]

Some salad does sound good today.  I'll put a salad bar out then!

We've got regular lettuce and Romaine for a base.  For garnishments we've got shredded carrots, chopped hardboiled egg, shredded cheese (Cheddar and American), sliced tomatoes, croutons, chopped bacon, black olives, and dressings.  Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Thousand Island, Vinigarette, French, and Olive Oil.  As a bonus I've also got some grilled chicken slices and some cubed ham for those who desire some meat with their rabbit food.

We are getting rain, Joe - but not that much.  It is the rest of the state that suffers more than we ever do.  We get snow, they get blizzards.  We get rain - they drown.  They get tornados and we get 60 mph winds....  Big Smile [:D]

Salad to go please.  Heavy on the....well....ingredients.....(easy on lettuce, pile on rest!)

Wasn't it here that we had an account a couple of years ago of someone taping the little darlings doing their deed?  Mom and Dad were incredulous that their angels would do such a thing - until they saw the tape.
