Evening everyone........

Watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction tonight, they just broke an all-time record for most expensive vehicle sold.  Carroll Shelby just sold his 1966 Cobra Supersnake (one of one) for five million dollars......

Woof.......

See everyone later.....

Darn!  Seem to be out of anchovies and I have ventured enough times for one cold day.  I'll take a couple of big slices of #6, large glass of milk to go with that and then curl up in front of the fireplace for a nap.

Keep those snow shovels gassed up.

P.S.  They have changed the prediction for when the snow will begin here to 4 a.m.  Guess we'll wait and see how much we actually get, even though they're calling for only 1 to 2 inches for our area.

I did some train watching today and I saw 6 trains in about 2 hours without changing locations. For my area, that is not too bad. These were on the BNSF of course, I wouldn't expect the UP to serve me that well. Wink [;)]

The snow is almost here. It still looks like some pretty decent accumulations, probably about 4 to 7 inches in Omaha which would be the best snow since since last March. I hope it doesn't decide to trick us at the last minute.

Just to let everyone know I didn't fall off the face of the planet.  but I sort of got unintentionally kicked offline for a while.

First off the place we were staying at while we were waiting for our house to get completed flooded out. A water main broke under the slab, so we all woke up with about an inch and a half of water all over the floor. The guitars got wet but they made it out alright. Thank the Gods too, or else I would have had to kill someone over that. So we packed up our stuff and moved to my husband's mom's place. She had no Internet, and I honestly didn't want to push my luck staying on the Internet on forums and stuff at the library. I know they allow it, but other peopel could make better use of it than I would with being on forums all the time, I told myself I could wait.

Over the course that I was at my husband's mom's place I found out I was pregnant. So far things are pretty calm. A lot of people are healous of me, since I am one of those extremely lucky people who doesn't get sick with every waking moment, or have anything to complain about.

We finally moved into the house the day before my birthday, and that probably was the best present I ever got.

I have been practicing taking pictures of locomotives, and so far, the one with an Amtrak was the best one I took. Nothing worth putting on RailPictures.Net but it's still fun. I can post them up if you would like to see them. They are mediocre but I tried.

CW, you have permission to shoot me cause I spoiled my appetite with Top RamenBig Smile [:D]

It feels great to be back online, and in my own space. I'll be back more often when I can now that I am back. If I get hungry again I'll stop by for some leftovers

Up to 10º here.  Bright sun.  Still winter, fer sher, but at least the sun is starting to get higher in the sky.  I hate it when 2:30pm seems like a half hour to sunset.

Hot coffee for me this morning.

Nice and sunny today - and cold.  In the high 20's yesterday, ten right now, with a wind chill hanging around -10.  Ouch!

Sorry I'll have to miss pizza tonight - attending a fire department banquet.  Not sure what's on the menu, but the price is right...

I doubt that you'll see anything on the WN- my brother lives close to their line through Cameron, and he says they run only three times a week there.  Good luck, though!

Looks like a very nice day here today, sunny but cold.  Current temp is 7.7 degrees (brrrrrr!).  Gotta run, get things done before the snow machine blasts us tomorrow!

....With a bit of snow chatter out there this morning I'll add ours.....The forecast has changed several times here indicating the big low system that's coming our way must be on a varied course.

Now the latest is we'll get {from the low passing under us}, about 1 to 2" of the stuff tomorrow mid day....That would be acceptable for January....

Winter tires and special sand bags are on and in the little pickup so I'm as ready as I can be....Wide tires are not the best though for forging through snow...Think of the old pictures of Model T's with the narrow tires and how they would go through axle deep mud on those skinny tires.

But it's sunny here now and right about 30 degrees.

Good Saturday morning, to all!  Well, we've got a temp in the mid to upper 30s this morning, looking for a high around 40 today.  They say the snow, rain, sleet, etc., will  start here somewhere between 1 and 4 a.m. in the morning.  They still are predicting only one to two inches of snow for us here in the Metro area.

Joe, thanks for making the coffee and juice, and making the rolls this morning.  To add to it, I've made some homemade biscuits, cooked sausage, and made gravy.  There's also some scrambled eggs.  All are on the warmer bar.  (Think I'll take a roll, a couple of biscuits w/gravy, and a sausage this morning. I seem to have woke up with an appetite this morning.)

Everyone have a fantastic day, and Dan, hope you and GF have a great day railfanning.

There are people who can take tests, and people who can't - one of the problems with standardized tests.

Willy - The lake effect attachment to your machine appears to be kicking in just north of Syracuse.  Snow amounts so far variously reported at 5-12".

Up for a difficulty breathing call.  Time to crawl back into the ol' waterbed...

My ex-fiancee's little sister got a 35 on the ACT...and cried (the nerve!) because she didn't get a 36!  Personally I got a 27 which was plenty for the UW system.  Having said that...my experience says that test proved about as useful as a pair of roller skates with square wheels when you get into college as far as your capabilities went.  I know people that got 21's/22's that graduated with 4.0 GPA's and others that were 30+ that dropped out.  Study, but I wouldn't sweat that thing.  Still...good luck to you!

He's currently living in Orlando, working on contract as a producer for a small instructional DVD company in California (tele-commuting) and going to digital animation school at Universal Studios.  Yep, the theme park.  School enrollment comes with a one-year pass to the park. Cool [8D]

I'm going for a 30 or higher, so 31 should be achievable. I think it would be neat if I got a perfect score, 36, but with the math I doubt that that is possible. If it was just English, Reading, and Science, then I would have a decent chance at a 36, but the math gets me every single time. Anyway, The Practice ACT is still a year away and the regular ACT over a year away, so I have plenty of time to get ready to show them who the boss is at Gross Catholic High School! I've got my plate and I'm ready to load it up with fish. Dinner [dinner]

It still looks like 4 to 6 inches for Omaha tomorrow night into Sunday morning.

Today at school the sophomore class got back a standardized test called the PLAN Test and it gives students kind of an idea on how they will do on the ACT. We took it way back in October last semester. The maximum score on this test is a 32 and I got a 25. At first I was kind of disappointed because I thought that sounded kind of low, but my teachers told me that that is actually a very high score. I got a 100% on both the English and Reading sections and a 93% on the Science section. What brought me down was math, but part of that is because much of the math on this test is stuff that we haven't gone over yet. In the spring of my junior year when I actually take the Pre-ACT, I'll be much better prepared for the math section with an additional year of math classes under my belt and thus my score should be several points higher. It also turned out that I was one of the highest scoring students out of the 115 sophomores who took the test.

Anyway, the 25 on this test translates to about a 26 to 30 on the ACT which would get me into either a selective or highly selective college. So, I guess I did much better than I thought.

Well - Some perch, a few fries (Matt must have been here), some coleslaw.   Looking good to me!  I'll be over in a booth, looking over the latest Trains (again) while I eat.

Very mild day, but we still saw some snow, and a fair bit of wind.  At least the roads weren't bad.  Winter's here, but hasn't really cut loose yet.  Another week or so and some of the construction work I need done for my project at work will be done.  Then we can go ahead and have some fun.

Train show in Utica, NY on Sunday, at Union Station.  Anybody in the area?   Forecast looks good, and I know the show chairman (one of our conductors) so I'll be making the trip.

Just got off the phone with my dad, who is the treasurer for the Racine County Ag Society.  The building and contents were a total loss, which also included campers and boats that were stored inside for the winter.  Cause is still under investigation, but its going to be very difficult to pinpoint, fire investigator said there was no hot spot, power was turned off inside the building (only thing on was the service and main panel).  He has not talked to the insurance people yet, but he's hoping the waiver in the storage contract (which removes the vehicles from the building's insurance) holds up, but everything would be covered if it doesn't.  CW, watch your e-mail, I forwarded the picture to you.
