Forgot to mention earlier that Joanie and I are celebrating (although not in a big way) our 27th wedding anniversary today.

Two pieces of chocolate cake ala mode please!

EDIT:  Oh, and one more piece of news- my son interviewed for a job with a gaming company today, and it sounds very promising- they're located in Sugarland, TX.  If he gets it, Ed, prepare for visitors...

The common cockloft.  Very common for many years.  NYC firefighters deal with them regularly in "taxpayers," commonly known as strip malls.  With today's lightweight construction, fire spread is fast and efficient.  If you live in such a building, don't spend a lot of money on furnishings and keep your really valuable stuff someplace else, 'cause I'm not going in to save any of them.

As with anything else, they get built because they are legal, although they may be just inches from requiring something like a firewall.

And you're right - it is a big hole in the fire codes, which all too often are dictated by local municipalities, which lack the knowledge and experience to deal with the big builders.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Brian, congratulations to you & Joanie!!  A nice, quiet anniversary is very nice!!

I brought in doughnuts of all kinds, muffins, cinnamon rolls, bagels and bear claws for your breakfast this morning!

Coffee is ready, oj and oj-tangerine are freshly made, and we have hot tea, iced tea, and lemonade this morning, also.

Been reading David Baldacci's The Camel Club and thoroughly enjoying it.  We (Mutt and I have been reading some of his books, ever since we read The Christmas Train a few years ago.  He is fast becoming one of my favorite authors!!  Anybody else here ever read any of his writings?

You all have a good morning, and I'm going to grab a cup of coffee, and a glass of orange-tangerine juice, and go curl up in the back corner booth.

CW - David B is right at the top of my must read authors.  I read the Camel Club and loved it.  I pass on all my books to our custodian, who then passes them on to a co-worker, and so on.  They get a lot of good use.

Eagles?

What took you so long?

If you like them, try Bad Company, or a little known Florida road band that has been around since the late 60...The Outlaws...

Hey, anybody got a spare SCUBA?

And no one picked up that I spent the weekend with 'Arry Potter?  Doesn't anyone else read the series or am I the only one?

Happy Anniversary! It's a day late, but I guess it still counts.

We actually got exactly one inch of rain at my house last night. Parts of Omaha just a little ways west of us measured two to three inches of rain. There were also very strong winds with trees, powerlines, and traffic lights down. It was certainly better than I was expecting when I went to bed. I just love a good severe thunderstorm!

Off to peruse the rest of the forum. TTFN.

On today's lunch menu, the following fish:  catfish, cod, founder, haddock, flounder, ocean perch, rainbow trout, bass.  Sides will be the usual:  cole slaw, fries and corn on the cob.

Desserts:  apple, cherry, peach pies, served with or without ice cream.

Haven't heard from LC yet, so guess he's still going to bring in salmon and crab legs for tonight's Fish Fry.

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes, I wouldn't change a thing here except to have her more healthy.  Her knee problems are getting her down- two and a half weeks to go until the next orthopedic surgeon appointment.

I'll take some fish and fries as well.

Brian,

They were moving too fast and I only had a limited view of the sky in my truck.  I was stuck in traffic on the way to work this morning.  I do plan on being there tomorrow and Sunday for the 'good stuff' (B-1, B-2, F-117 fly bys) and will to get pics and video that I can share.

Happy (late) Anniversary!  I always forget those.

Brian, wish Joanie the best of luck on her upcoming doctor visit.

Yes Dan, it's FRIDAY FISH FRY time!  I've got the following on the warmer bar:  catfish, cod, flounder, haddock, halibut, ocean perch, fries and corn on the cob.

Waiting for LC to get here with the salmon and crab legs.  LC, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!

Got the regular desserts, along with chocolate cake.  And I'm glad I made another run to the store, for the fixings for homemade ice cream.  Made just about every flavor you could want!!

I wonder what it is that draws me to that topic on waving. No matter how much I try to just ignore it, I have to keep looking at it and putting in a few more words here or there. It's like I keep thinking that if I reason with them enough, maybe they'll all finally say sorry to each other and end the thing. Like that will ever happen!

The fish is delicious this evening, CW!

Got it covered. (wheeling in large containers of same)

Rainy afternoon here. Sorry to be late, but some genius drove their car into our substation last night (darn drunks) and we had to do some shuffling fast to keep things refrigerated... With the power off until a little while ago I couldn't e-call ahead to let you know...

Sorry Willy, you know it isn't you and the decent folks who wave to us. The whole thing is really about a couple of people who feel they can impose on others at their work and the cranky railroader response to a challenge. Believe me, if Mr. Midnight was out on the rails he'd hear a LOT worse...

Good Saturday morning, all!  Joe, thank you so very much, for getting breakfast this morning.  Joe, are those fresh cinnamon rolls I smell?!?!  Ummmm, that wakes up my appetite this morning!

LC, no problem.  I figured something must have happened along the way, to keep you from getting in.  The salmon and crab legs were delicious!!  You can fix them for me anytime!!

Cannonball, good to see you made it in last night!  Hope you and Shirl have a very nice weekend, and a safe week, wherever your travels take you!!

Joe, thanks for sending some rain down our way last night!  It was very much appreciated.

Everyone have a great day today, and we'll see you back in here for  SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

....A little info for Willy's meteorology round file.....71 degrees here this morning with really heavy fog hanging just off the surface meaning it must be really humid outside.

Pretty good chance for rain activity after noon today.

Then, diminishing later in the day setting us up for a string of sunshine and heading for the 90's about the mid week.

A bit different subject:  Took vehicle in for all day preventive maintenance service work yesterday...{at Indy}, and drove home a loaner...A very different experience.  It is Lexus' SUV HYBRID....I had never even stopped and looked at one let alone drive one.  Turn the key to start and you have silence.  But touch the throttle and you are on your way.  CVT {Continuing Variable Transmission}, which I would have to get used to....Backing off the throttle coming to exit on highway the instruments are telling me the electric motors have turned into generators and are charging the batteries and helping to stop the vehicle....{dynamic braking}...same with braking, etc...

A very different animal.  The gasoline engine may shut down at a stoplight and the electric motors start the vehicle moving again unless one pushes hard on the throttle and then "both" power plants energise.  All this operation is seamless, you don't hear or feel anything much different happening...it just moves as "normal"...But sure is a different approach.  Fuel gauge never moved in about 48 miles.  Cruise at 70 mph, effortless...and every once in a while I'd see indication the "engine" was charging batteries....Battery indicator was sitting on about 7/8 th charge.

Interesting story Quentin about a neat car with a fascinating price tag!

Gonna work on the layout today.  I got some B40-8s that need some TYb/green paint...hehe.  Plus I think I'll go find some real ones to look at while waiting for the air show.  Back later...Auf wiedersehen!

Thanks, Cannonball, we appreciate it.  Joanie is feeling better day by day- they found a different pain prescription that seems to work well without any side effects.  She even went in to work today on overtime, which leaves me free to get in some track time!

Off to see what's shakin' on the UP...

CW; thank you for the kind thoughts . There is more than a bit of sadness here today because of 2 copter crashes with the loss of 4 lives . 2 pilots and 2 photografters from ch. 15 & ch. 3 . All these folks were well respected for what they do . The 4 were part of our news day. Our thoughts go out to their familys.~~~~ There seems to be a lot of knee problems pop up like weeds after a rain. Hope yours and Joanies  turn out for the better. I need a slice of your CHOCOLATE cake and chocolate ice cream .  Hello to Ms. Sarah & Walt . See ya' later . Respectfully , Cannonball
