What's with that it will take many years for a new EMD to go up in smoke the GP-9's still run so do a lot of old EMD's. What hard to find is old GE's![8D][8D][swg]

On a recent return trip from Wyoming we followed the UP from Ogallala to Grand Island. On the 40 or so trains we saw, there were many units flying the flag. Most were clean, all were stirring and me proud to be an American and proud of the UP for feeling the same way.

UP is a lazy railroad. If they don't clean the crapper then what makes you think that they will clean the outside of the locomotive.

I wonder if the engineerson these flag adorned loco's call themselves "Captain America" like Peter Fonda did in the movie?

If Captain America falls on the ground or gets his costume dirty, does he have to burn it?

It would keep the flags lit up at night if it happened to a UP loco.

Even though the engine holds the heralds of the "Old Glory" decal, it's going to get dirty know matter what. It's the same as leaving an American flag outside. They're going to get dirty. Although I do know what you're meaning.[:)][:P]

During the bicentenniel era I heard of a flap involving a young man who painted his car in a flag motif and was hassled by the cops. Lo and behold, not long after, one of the patrol cars turns up in a similar motif....

Fire department at a local military installation has flag decals on the grilles of several trucks, and at least one with a large flag decal that takes up most of the sides of the truck.

There - fire trucks covered.

Dan, don't we already have donkeys (***) on the forum?!

Larry just covered the fire trucks.

I'm not a dwarf, but I AM VERY SHORT. I also have several t-shirts with
the American flag on them. Now, isn't everything covered?!?!

In my opinion, flag decals aren't the same as the actual flag. So give it
a rest, folks, pleeeeease.

When you say Kitt, are you refering to "NightRider?" That was such a good show. I still catch it sometimes on Sci-Fi.

You're right. And "way off topic" should not be an excuse. But it took nearly 12 pages of non-RR insult-laced debate on the part of a certain member before anyone said anything. My deleted post was an advisory to that person, and a COMPLIMENT to the other participant.

Your post is perfect. And if it had been posted a half dozen pages ago, it truly would've avoided wasting "a lot of innocent people's time."

Again, I love the UP flag motif, clean or dirty.

Shhhhhh! Its just a rumor, but I here Uncle Pete's crack lawyers thought they could use KITT's on all there trains and go to NO man crews, to save alot of money that could then go to their legal service charges, then someone told them it was just a TV show[;)]

What about the BNSF-patched ex-Burlington Northern SD40-2s that have the American flag on the battery boxes?

We got plenty of Mesquite down here,
I will get with Peterson and see if he can arrange to ship about half a box car up to you...
