I got two granddaughters, Summer and Autumn Blysard,( pronounced Blizzard).

I was shooting for Wendy Gayle and Stormy myself, but got voted down.

Larry, actually, I kinda like Rockett Jaye, has a ring about it.

Odd coincidence, my screen name refers to the fictional NorthWest Express commuter system that I plan on modeling... Bizarre!

Mutt - you would love one of them - either one.  And like Joe - if you stubbed your toe - insurance rates would go up.

Can't you just imagine the mail carrier's face if they found this in their post office, Mutt division?  Laugh

Hmmm....Economy Rate.......Plunk it in the South Platte at Lincoln....floats downriver to Omaha (hope it makes it through the irrigation diversion/ flood control dams) then ...down the Missouri River to Kansas City to St. Louis, pick-up a towboat down the Mississippi down to Cairo, take a left and go up the Ohio River to Loo-vulle and drop off at the gangplank of The Belle of Louisville at the public landing.

Might take about 4 years; 3 months a week and two days (Give or take)

Hope it can float that long. (or it joins the stuff from the steamboat  Arabia in Kansas City)

BOC - I was just thinking you might need a mask of some kind getting into old items.  Think possible mold along with dust and small dead bodies.  Just what your lungs don't need!

Brother Carl - are you certain that the crawl space won't pick up any moisture?  Having seen the archives - you will always have to be very careful with water - anywhere.  Leave your glass of H20 at the stairs.

Tree - I am so lucky in downsizing.  I can honestly say that I have gotten rid of lots and never once had to rebuy or regret.  Tells me I had too much of "absolutely no use left or didn't need to begin with".

Too hot to fish - actually too humid to fish.  Ditto train watch. Besides - time to rest - make it a 3 day weekend - just because we can.

Mook, I might be interested in one of those chests, about how much "shipping" do you think you need for it to come to Lou., Ky.?

As stated here before - I am downsizing.  I will probably downsize for another 3-5 years.  Then continue to live here as health permits. (stairs)

However, my tale of woe - I have two - that's 2 - full-size cedar chests.  One in living room and one upstairs in bedroom.  Both are from the 1940's and were given to me by family members.  They make great storage and even chairs.  And they are super heavy.

I now have nothing to store in them.

However - a word of caution.  When a cedar chest comes into your home - it never leaves.  You can't drag it out to the garbage, to the street so someone will steal it, to your worst enemies house or to the house next door and stick their eternally barking dog in it.  And my daughter and grandchildren are wise to not accepting any large objects from me.

Enter the 2 Men & a Truck.  If I go thru my Xmas list and no one claims one or both, the 2 Men - (probably more like 4 Men) will be taking both to an unsuspecting Goodwill and dropping them in their parking lot!

If someone on here expresses an interest, send me more than a lot of postage and I will mail one or both to you!  No charge on chests - free to a good home or two.....

We have a new Goodwill store in our town.  I suspect that they'll be getting some business from us.  Our regular trash containers have been full to lids-ajar every week since our construction project started.

As for the garage, the car has not been able to go in there since March, as that's the place where the sewing room and kitchen have been stored...as well as some tools, construction materials, and so forth.  As of today, we're just lacking baseboards in the kitchen and the new great-room, and counter-tops in the kitchen, before we can move stuff back in and decide what we no longer need.

(Unfortunately, that won't be the end of it for us.  Then we'll have to move everything out of our living room and dining room so they can refinish the floors in there.  That will require leaving the house, as we won't be able to access the bedrooms and bathroom while that's being done.  Then there is major work to be done in the dungeon basement, where my library will probably be expanded into the crawl space.  Said crawl space is now insulated and lighted, so we just need easier access--maybe a step stool.  The crawl space will enable a lot of archives to be stored, giving the active library more space for organization and expansion.)

I'm in the process of weeding/downsizing/whatever-you-want-to-call-it - and it can be a real challenge.  I'm slowly getting past the "but I might have a use for it" angle on a lot of items, but that's been tough.  You know - you throw something away, and two weeks later have to buy the same item...

But that's the main reason I got the larger container from the trash company - in hopes that I'd fill it up on a regular basis.  I haven't been as diligent as I'd like, but I am getting some stuff thrown out...

Finally some nice weather here.  A bit cool on the overnights (it's down to +52F right now), but the days are getting better.  Then there's that 30% chance of showers over the weekend.  Hopefully that won't be a problem.

Good Evening..

Well, the mess in the garage is...still...a mess. Every time I go in there it seems that a different form of mess showed up...sigh

Tomorrow will be the same thing as today...try to combat mess in the garage...maybe I should get more than one 50 cubic yard bin for all the 'stuff' in there...Whistling

I have a kink in my thinking - if anything comes into this house - say a tube of toothpaste.  It doesn't get placed in the bathroom closet until the box is gone.  Everything gets downsized as much as possible before it stays.

So why am I on my 4th go round cleaning closets?  All I have new in mine is some clothes - and they go on those hangers that I have from donating old ones.  Yet I still have "junk" in there that needs to be pulled out and moved to a new home.  Think that is the kink?  I needed it then, but not now?  Hmm

I can tell you of some other things that multiply. In going through Ricki's things on and about her desk, I found lots of Post-Its, staples, and little pads of notepaper (some of those were collected from various hotels).

BOC - have you noticed that cleaning to get rid of "stuff" is like removing hangers in a closet.  It all comes back and brings more.

There is a joke running in our office about paperclips and coat hangers....one breeds the other..or something...Whistling
