Just checked out the Mookie Cams and they aren't showing any snow yet, despite the radar showing it over her area.  It's headed that way, though, in spades by the looks of it.

About an inch of the white stuff overnight here.  Nothing out of the ordinary.

Found a keyboard for the computer that's new than what I was using (or at least wasn't as tired).  Only problem is that a few of the keys have "moved," so it's going to take some getting used to.

Off to check the mail, then more work on a folding display board for the railroad.

Good Thursday morning everyone, and Happy Birthday Wishes to Quentin!!Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day  Wishing you all the best today and always!

Well, from the looks of the weather maps, we should have a wintry mix coming in around 6 to 10 p.m. tonight.  According to what I saw, here in Bullitt County, we'll probably only see some rain, with maybe a little bit of sleet mixed in. Metro Louisville and points north, will probably see more, possibly some snow.  But temps are to warm up tomorrow, so won't be around very long at all.

Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.

Thank you Paula....it will be a routine quiet day for me.

Ice included in some of the weather to pass thru nearby.....Right now, it appears we might not be in a bad location for where the lower weather system is to pass....But tracks can change.  Hoping for the best.

Time to head out for lunch.....

Q - Happy, happy Birthday!  February isn't much better than December when it comes to having an outdoor get-together.  But - this cold weather makes us sturdier souls!

Tree - go look again.  It started about an hour ago and it is that fine, tightly bunched snow.  We have about 1/2 inch right now.

The people really getting the bad stuff live in Southern MO - where it looks really pink and white!  I think I would rather have blue, since there won't be as much ice under it.

Sir C - cats don't go out until bare ground is the norm.  Gosh - that could be a looooong time!

Only if you can catch the cat, don't get mauled scratched in the process, and the Cat doesn't figure out how to get them off in less than 10 seconds!! (and throw them back in your faceLaugh)

My "Group" had the day off from Jury Duty today, thought I'd stop in and see what was going on. Don't think we're to get any snow, just a chance of sleet/freezing rain this evening/overnight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Quentin!!! Happy B-Day Hope It's A Good One For You!!

Ms Mook - I've been watching all morning.  Things are definitely turning white there.  A little while ago the roads had snow, but the driving tracks were pretty clear.  Now entire roads are turning white.

The cam that looks at Haymarket Ballpark doesn't show the ballpark any more...

Currently looking at a snowplow at 27th and "O".  Thought I was looking at Canada - they use blue lights on their snowplows, too...

On an amusing note, the cam at KLIN Radio, 44th & O, shows sunny skies and not a hint of snow.  I don't think they've updated their image lately...

Edit @1:45 Nebraska time - snow getting heavier, traffic getting lighter.

Calm before the storm here.  Warmer temps, but it feels cold and ominous out there.  We're still talking 2-4 inches in the city, maybe another inch out our way.  Then a little ice glaze in the morning, followed by more snow.

Larry, does the Mookamera show any trains?

Tree - 2:54 cst and snow has stopped for now - at least here at home.  I don't think we got any more than an inch total.  May start up later?  Or not!  I am glad you could see something somewhere.  Usually I check radar during a bad storm and it is unavailable.  Only available on sunny days.

We are fighting two fires - one about a mile straight north of us - an old restored colonial type - sounds like they were remodeling the attic that is no longer there.  Roof gone, too.  Went from a 3 story to an open air one story structure.  Other one was a limited chimney fire.

BC - BNSF is too secretive to have any cameras.  I think there is one at the old depot, but it doesn't show much.

Walt - jury duty - you lucky person.  They called me for my 3rd time to go and I said no - don't need that kind of excitement any more.  Driver and daughter have never been asked!  Maybe they just want to see what a Mookie looks like?  Or they know I read John Grisham novels?

Ms Mook - here's a link to the NWS radar at Omaha, direct from NWS.

http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=OAX&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

The visibility is definitely better in all of the traffic cams.  Still some snow in the air.

How much more snow you get will probably depend on which way the center of circulation goes.

Off for a dinner meeting.

Almost 25 years of living in the same location and I've never been called for Jury Duty. For the pittance they give you for serving , I'd just as soon stay home and be bored, instead of a room with about 200 other people.

No knitting needles allowed through the metal detectors, (I don't knit anyway) maybe someone else was interested in the Tom Clancy, or Clive Cussler books I read.

Oh well, one more day and they're not supposed to even think about asking again for 2 years.

Good Friday morning all.  We lucked out in the snow/freezing rain/sleet overnight.  Our temps are holding in the mid 30s, so not too bad outside.  Supposed to be back up in the low to mid 50s by 4 p.m.

Never been called for jury duty.  My Mama was called once:  but she'd just had her second hip replacement, so a district judge we happened to know, got her off having to serve.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.  Enjoy, have a good day, and see you all later.

After the dinner meeting last night we were greeted with a freezing mist.  Which stuck nicely to the windshield until it got warmed up.  Drove out of it on the way home though.

Looks like it's going to come over us, but shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.  I've got a lot of driving to do this weekend, though.  Don't need slick roads to be part of the equation.

Time to check the snail mail and get back to the project at hand.

Knowing what was coming this way....I turned on our magic wand and it worked rather well.  Overnight, just a skiff of granulated like snow / ice is all we received.  Temp earlier was 31.8, so that little bit will soon be melting.  To be warmer later today and tomorrow.

Jury duty....Age, has been a factor here too...{But can't say too young}....They did raise the age I believe here in Indiana from 65 to perhaps 75 or so...I know I simply did not have to attend because of it....Fine with me.

Glad we're coming close to closing the door on February....Spring's on it's way next month.....Paradise

Q - I am going to have you e-mail me a copy of that wand.  That would really come in handy!

Well - we got a lot of publicity and Jim Cantore, but only 4 inches of snow.  And it is light and blowy; no moisture at all.  Sun is out and while not exactly warm, the direct rays should melt some of it.  The drought is really bad when it won't snow because there is no moisture.  This summer I will be looking for the delivery of sand for the yard.  No water, no grass.  And the state we are trying to emulate - AZ had snow, too.  Wonder if they had more than we did?

Larry, be sure to clear your windshield (I am preaching to the choir, am I not?) Two or three days ago, a woman here cleared just enough frost from her windshield so she could see ahead--and hit a man she did not see and knocked him into the path of a Traxx train, which mortally injured him. She is in great trouble now.

Larry, be sure to clear your windshield (I am preaching to the choir, am I not?)

Fortunately, the mist that was freezing on was thin and easily removed using the wipers and washer fluid.

It does, however, always drive me nuts to see the folks who clear just enough to see where they're going...  Barely.

Since my truck is usually in the garage, I rarely have to clear it off unless I get caught out in weather.  When I do clear it off, I usually clear everything, including the top of the cab, hood, and even the 'camper' over the bed.

Larry,

Your truck sounds clean enough to eat off of.  I don't clean my car as well as you do but I do clean all of the glass -- all windows, mirrors and lenses on the lamps.

I laugh in your general direction Smile, Wink & Grin.

This time of year you'd be eating with a healthy dose of grit and an unhealthy amount of salt...

It's not that the truck is all that clean - but I've seen too many cars with a foot or more of snow on their roof (and trunk), driving down the road.

Too, I have a light bar on the roof of the truck, and it would be helpful if people could see it if I'm enroute to a fire call or on the scene of a traffic incident.

As for the inside, cluttered would be a good description.  Laugh

Tree,

In my state, New Jersey, it is illegal to drive your car without clearing the snow off the roof and the law is enforced.  This is because snow blowing on other peoples' windshields has caused accidents.

However, I keep my car in a garage.  I'm a traditional conservative.  I want a garage and I want my car in the garage.  It helps a lot.

Four hours of driving for a two hour meeting.  But it was important.

Unfortunately, I left the house without my cell  phone, so had to drive 15 minutes back to get it, putting me a half hour behind (and a half hour late for the meeting).

The driving wasn't bad, though - some slushy roads, but for the most part just wet.

Old Railroads Never Die Department - On the way home I heard the fire dispatcher in the next county over send out an ambulance for a medical emergency on one of the snowmobile trails - described by the dispatcher as "the old Glenfield & Western roadbed."  The "Gee Whiz" was taken up over 80 years ago...
