All we get is drizzle and that started about 90 minutes ago. Must be getting water piped-in from somewhere else.

Been playing bridge hopper all day, sun-up to sundown.Sleep

Mookie

somebody on tv is spreading a rumor that there is a huge snowstorm heading for Chicago, then Boston and New York....

Where did that start!

Canada.

The low pressure center started as an "Alberta Clipper", but is taking a path further south than normal; because of this, the storm will be able to tap the moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and turn it into snow. Milwaukee is expected to get up to 7" from this system (with another large-scale storm by Sunday or Monday.

Yeah - We're under a winter storm watch here in the wilds of northern New York, too.

It'll all depend on how it tracks and how the winds run.  If the system is big enough to bring in moisture off the Atlantic to us, we'll be in for it.

In the meantime, it's a tad cold here, great weather for a structure fire (not), which I just got back from.  It was a neighboring department's call, but we're automatic to them.  A chimney fire that either overheated the surrounding structure, or else the chimney itself failed (cracked).  It was nine degrees when I got back to our fire station.

They got a good hit on it - by the time I got there they were overhauling the thing and we were on our way home before too long.

For now it's time for a bedtime snack and bed.

We have had such nice weather the past 2 days, it almost scares me!

We haven't had a bad winter in ages.  It's been years since I asked the town plow guys to wing down the banks in front of my house so I can see to get out of my driveway.

The outdoor sports fanatics are always glad to see it snow - you can't ride a snowmobile or ski on bare ground.  I really don't mind.  Leave a little extra time for your travels, or just stay where you are.

Yes, the system coming up from the south with all the moisture and expected to meet with the nasty one coming from the upper Great Lakes area will form a Nor Easter storm of a rather large magnitude....

Boston and further north in New England...and even points south to NYC are looking at one to two feet and some, much more possible....Looks like a bad one for many in that region.

Sun is shining on my computer screen here thru my east window this morning, here in eastcentral Indiana.  Temps are even above freezing.  So, I'm not complaining.  Have added over an hour of daylight now from the low point, and we're on the journey to Spring....Of course we'll have some Winter hic-ups on the way, but January is behind us.  Thankfully.

Just got the mail, and in it was a request for a fire department patch trade from . . . Russia.  The FD has patches from all over the world, but this is a first.

My muscles and joints want to dis-enroll, but don't have a say in the matter. Go back Monday and finish out that job. (we were told the water was only knee-deep....we are bringing the company yacht (rubber raft) on Monday...)

BOC - CHF is something I've seen quite a bit of.  I'm sure your life will now include diuretics and bananas.

Snow here since about 10PM last night, but only 3"-4" in the driveway this morning.  There's a bit of a breeze, though, so there's some drifting.  Doesn't look like the two systems have joined up yet, and I know we're going to be in it through tomorrow.

Looks like the east coast is going to catch this one full-on.  A lot of places are closing down - let's hope they get enough weather to justify it or next time everyone will be ignoring the warnings.

Hello everybody, and Good Friday morning to you all.  Gee, sounds like things have really been hopping around here(had to go back 3 pages to get caught up).

BOC, hope you are doing better this morning.  Please take care of yourself.

I myself haven't been feeling very well this week.  Thought that I had had a head cold, but according to the medicine the doctor prescribed, I've had a really bad sinus infection.  Doing a different antibiotic this time (Levofloxacin) once a day.  The other prescription was for Claratin, which I'm already taking, and it isn't working, so I refused to accept that one from the Pharmacy. When I called the doctor's office, I could hardly talk with the triage nurse, due to coughing so hard.  Cough suppression medicine wasn't sent, so still putting up with coughing fits.

We had beautiful weather yesterday:  our high temp was in the mid 60s, and was absolutely gorgeous.  Beautiful warm sunshine and no breeze.

Everyone take care, have a good day, and everyone along the East Coast, hang in there, and keep safe.

Oof!  Just walked down to the PO to check the mail, to the store for some bread, cleared a bit of the driveway (snowblower will make another appearance later) and topped off the bird feeders (hungry little buggers!).

The wind has come up (10MPH here in the valley - hate to think what it's doing up on the "flats"), so drifting is becoming a factor, as is wind chill.  Parts of my driveway were bare pavement despite the couple of inches I think we've gotten since last I cleaned the thing.

Kids are all out of school, and the closing list for businesses and other activities is growing.

Wheeeeeee!

The sun is out here, but our friends "down east" are still getting hammered, and will all day.

Time to go clear some snow at our banquet hall.

I am so excited!  I think I am on to something!

The latest Trains (March) has an article on Page 11.

But the 1% possibility that I may be wrong - I don't want to jump up in the middle of the forum and crow.

So, if our resident engineer will either confirm or deny - then I may win the boiled owl award for paying attention - even if I am a little light on the for sure part of it.

It seems Winter is relenting to more mornings with temps over the freezing mark.  This is another one.  Believe we are to have less critical temps all of the coming week.  Like that.  Snow has gone down the drains here some time ago and we've been treated to seeing the grass much more now....Wonderful.  {But we'll certainly see more of it {snow}, at times}.

Church late this morning, then to the Sunday meal at one of our railroad side, restaurants after church.  Double track east / west CSX is just across rt. 32 here.  Roughly 20 to 25 trains daily....Not sure how many on weekends.  It's not unusual to see perhaps two trains while having a meal there.

Wishing everone that posts here a good week ahead.....

Tree - you got your ears on?  ^~^

I was there when the picture was taken, but I can't be seen behind the crowd.  The conductor on the walkway is not me.  I'm better looking...  I've got a couple of pictures taken from a different angle.

He's holding a microphone in his hand - part of a portable PA system I have that we used that day.

That was the first day of our anniversary event - I was the utility guy, and must have walked five miles up and down the yard, taking care of switches and anything else that needed attention.  I was easy to pick out in my yellow hardhat and safety vest.  Looking very closely at the picture, you might just catch a glimpse of my vest this side of the bay window.

The second day I was one of two engineers on our locals, wherein I was running the RS18u (1845) furthest from the camera.

It was a busy two days.

Good Monday morning to all.  Nice sunshine this morning, with temps to be in the 50s today; but rain/winter mix supposedly coming back in Wednesday.  Had a very busy weekend, even without the girls here.  My sister-in-law and I left my brother sleeping Saturday, and we went shopping.  I bought myself a couple pairs of new shoes, a new blouse, a pair of leggings and a pair of jeans.  Also bought a new pair of sheets for the bed; yesterday, while my niece and I were gone to Church, my sil went out and bought a new comforter for the bed.  As soon as their laundry is done, I'll be washing the sheets and comforter, and putting them on the bed.  We had a really good time, Carolyn and I, just being out of the house, and having a Girls Only Outing.

Mookie and Larry, gonna have to find that article and read it!

Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.

......No sunshine here today....but it is on the mild side for temp.  Windy, and overcast.

Won't complain, as we've had no snow now for some time....and we'll just work our way out of Winter, quietly...Yea, I wish...but that's the way it is now.  Time to go find lunch.
