....Adrian, are you really in Dover, Del.....?  Some time ago, I thought I remember you headed for Alaska.  Dover is certainly a short distance back home to Harrisburg.

And didn't I see you with a bride....Yours...?  If so congratulations.

Do you plan to make the Service a career.......

Nope, no alaska fer me.  Once yer at Dover it's over...  Comin' up on 1.5y of bein married.

Adrian:  Do you fly those things?Wink

Nope, full time aircraft maintenance specializing in flightline avionics.  I however am now fully flying crew chief qualified and a few times a month get to fly on a jet filling the maintenance duties when landing.

TGIF Railfans!

Even though I had the holiday break on Wednesday this week seems to have worn me out.  I guess it was because it was like having two Monday's in the same week at work.  Got lots of stuff to do right now so see you all on the return trip...

BOC the worse thing I hate about IV's are two things having to drag the pole around and after they pull it out is takes a day or so to wash the tape gunk off my  arm.  All the best

Brian, Q, and any other "old" diner residents - Our Adrianspeeder has grown up!  And looks like he turned out ok!  With our help, of course!  Shy

Last day, I think - of incredible heat.  Poor Millie is about to blow a gasket having to put out so much air conditioning.

We have some really horrible neighbors just to our west.  They cleaned out an entire floor (basement or living room) right down to the bare floor and put it all out on the parkway (between the sidewalk and the street for you who don't have parkways or call them something else.)  Since we live on the side of a hill, they are higher in elevation (several feet) than we are.  Our driveways are fairly close.

They stacked so much "stuff" - couches, rugs, chairs, garbage, that it covered the entire parkway from one drive to the other and so high that I couldn't see to pull out of our driveway.  Almost got creamed from a truck coming over the hill.  Scared the exhaust out of Millie!  It was there for 5 full days.  Garbage man wouldn't touch it and vandals ignored it!

So a visit from the police dept  (last nite) and health dept. (this am) and Bingo - all gone this afternoon.

My tax dollars at work - quickly and efficiently!

Now about street repair....

Moo.....

Afternoon all.  It is hot, hot, hot here in Louisville, along with hazy and humid.  Haven't checked the thermometer for current temp.

Our Friday Fish Fry is on the warmer bar/serving station, with all the different kinds of fish, and all the regular side dishes, including several kinds of salad. Also regular list of desserts, including lots of ice cream and ice cream novelties.

Been on the phone for the last little bit:  have to go to Jewish Outpatient Clinic on 7/16/12 for my 5 year colonoscopy.   Going to be fun, fun, fun.  Also have to go in on 7/10/12 for my yearly mammogram.  That will be done at my regular hospital.

Hope everyone is staying cool, or at least trying to stay as cool as possible.  Here at our computer, I have the little fan pointed right at me, so I'm staying very comfortable.  Walt just came in and told me the current temp:  103 degrees!  And no, he didn't relate the current heat index.

Everyone take care, keep safe and see you all tomorrow.

Yup, the ARC-210 radio is RC from off the top of my head, but we have all brands everywhere.  Honeywell, BAE, Hamelton Strysand, Parker Hannifan.

I change and troubleshoot them all and of course only have to pay attention to them when broken, so I'd say they suck, but do the best they can for the extreme abuse and environment they live in.  Of course the ones in supply are there because they have been repaired, "fixed", and put back into the system.  Oh well, what can ya do.

About 15 years ago, I was on a software team that designed the Key Manager software for a variant of the ARC-210 known as the RT-1794(C).  I've been on several other projects since then, though, and lately have been working on helping design the CRIIS system, which will replace the ARDS training pods on the various ranges.  If I run into some of my cohorts that still work on ARC-210, though, I'll pass along your comments.

Nifty nifty.  Send me an email lveastonspeeder at msn dot com, and I got some other pictures for ya.

For everyone else, here was a nifty takeoff we hightailed out of the desert with a few ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvVcurU0X4Q&feature=plcp

Throttle up standing start, rotation at 2400ft down the runway, 350ft above the deck cleanup, then unrestricted climb to flight level 100 in 2min 12 seconds and a few TAWS warnings along the way there.

Kickass ride for sure everytime.  Something this big ya don't expect to boogie like that.

Good Evening Railfans...

Can you say MONSOON RAIN!!!!!!!

The High Pressure system that has sat over Colorado for so long causing historical record heat has given way and RAIL is falling in abundance here tonight.

With that, Flash Flood warnings are out all over the place including in the fire zones.  Up at the fire zone near Ft Collins, mudslides are occurring and Highway 14 causing a new round of evacuations.  These poor folks can get a break even with the rain now...

One more day of heat....bad heat.  Then some relief, next week.

Noted 103.1 today....Not sure if that was the max it was.  But the humidity was unbearable to be out in.

I'm ready for some 80's.

Big SmileAdrian, good to see you stateside. Congrats  on the promotion. Those are really huge tires by you. Are they 56x16 32 ply. Some years past we hauled a number of those tires to  W.P.A. F.B. in Fairborn , Ohio.   I would hazard to guess that  avionics has really evolved by the photos  of the head gear.      Glad you are serving our country , thank you.

No worries friend, same to you.  Not quite the smoothest ride when on a glorified hard packed to almost concrete like dirt runway.

Can't recall the nose tires offhand, I think 40" overall.  The main's are 52x20 on a 20inch rim.

Here is the best look I got with a gear door off.

As for the avionics package, it is the top of the class full fly by wire electronic flight control system that is pretty *** reliable, and really fun to troubleshoot when it ain't.

Good Morning

We are getting up to 85F today..which certainly beats having it be 100+F and heat indexes of 119F!!! http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif

Today is rest day for me..then on Sunday I go  to church and give special thanks....

Adrian:  Certainly beats the experience I had!! When i was doing survey work for my uncles company in South America we had used a DC-3 to land on what ended up being steel grated runways...straight down then jam the brakes on....

Good Saturday morning all.  81 degrees in Louisville, to be up to mid to upper 90s by noon, supposed to get to 106, maybe reach a record 107 this afternoon.  Have a 40% chance of rain showers/storms for tomorrow.  Then temps in the upper 80s, low 90s most of next week.  Come on lower temps!!

Yes, Adrian, thank you so very much for serving our country, and doing your part to keep us free!

The breakfast bar is loaded with our Saturday Brunch, and I'm getting ready to go out for my walk, before it gets unbearable outside.  Everyone have a good morning, take care, keep cool and see you this evening for our pizza fest.

Got a break from the heat, but now the humidity is eating us alive!  75 and 82%.  90 later.  But a wind out of the north will maybe make it a little more manageable to be out.  Not me - I am staying inside all day!

Had a visit with the young rabbit this morning.  He was at the front door when I got the paper; told him to go around back.  He did.  Didn't say much.

But then, neither did the robin who didn't come for seed this morning.  I was observing by the water dish and figured out the glaring was to move and go in the house so a proper bath could be taken.

Conversations with no noise.  Interesting.

Interesting, Mookie:

Weather around here is HOT!  Temp is about 93 and supposed to be a high of 102. Thunderstorms are forecast. It they happen the Humidity will be awful.  Watered early this morning. Hot dry winds just suck the moisture out of the ground. But the wife's garden spot is doing well.

Got up about 5 AM and went down, was reasonably comfortable out bacl. Drank coffee and watched the new hawks in the trees across the creek. Read the paper, and enjoyed the quiet, until a  Z train passed a stacker and that is always a racket , the stacks on the eastbound modulate the sounds of the westbound Z's air horns, and kinda make a  warbling sound.  Sort of noisy but neat.

Hope everybody has a safe day, and stay as cool as possible. Looking forward to lunch. Marinated tomatoes, yellow squash with onions, and catfish.Thumbs Up   Followed by a NAP! Whistling

Right now, at the official NWS site at the Lou. Int. Airport, 104 degrees out.  Haven't checked our indoor/outdoor thermometer (of course, right now, it is kind of shaded, so wouldn't be entirely accurate anyway).

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Cnadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Desserts tonight:  ice cold watermelon, and plenty of ice cream.  Also have some cobblers (apple, peach, blueberry and blackberry)

I did take my walk early this morning, and was back home just after 10 a.m.  Except for Walt and I going out on the porch to smoke, haven't been back out in the sun today.  Feel sorry for anyone who has had to be out working in this heat/humidity:  railroad employees and anyone else whose job requires them to be out in this oppressiveness.

Everyone take care, keep as cool as possible, have a good evening and see you all in the morning.

Still hot, hot, and humid...!  It seems, so they say, we'll start to get a break tomorrow in the heat.  Should be only up to the 90's....and next week too.

Our {my}, what was pretty green and pure grass is now just a light tan, and dry all over.  Beautiful corn fields here have corn growing to 5 or 6' or more and were looking like a beautiful crop on the way, now are turning brown, and perhaps the ears are not even forming....

If we don't get rain...{and the only chance near term} is an isolated cell to put down some rain...Almost none visible on radar...It sure looks to me this area of Indiana's crop will be lost...!

103...104....don't even pay real close to it now in late afternoon to see what the high for a day has been.

So....Right now, I'm headed to the TV, as a friend just called and said they are finished with all the blab, and the cars are actually running on the Daytona Track for the Firecracker 400.  So I'm going to check it out.
