765.org will get you some answers. They were running some tests with the engine down to Muncie and back. She is hooked up to the NKP heritage unit. Matt and I will be waiting next friday when she makes here run from new haven to bellevue ohio.Glad tonight is friday.

joe

Thanks Joe....that helps to explain why some were saying there were two engines....Sure wish I would have known they were coming this way.  If You happen to learn of any more runs this way Joe, please let us know right here, will be fine.

I have seen her many times, but will try for more.....

Just checked a few minutes ago and we still have 95 degrees here....Humidity is not as bad as last week...but that is still rather warm.

Good Friday morning all.  Barry (blownout cylinder), hope your last day of treatment goes well for you.  Wishing you the best, so that you'll feel like going by your favorite train watching park.

We have 73 degrees this morning, going for a high of 81, and the rain is s-l-o-w-l-y making its way north to us.  Now they are saying it'll be in sometime late afternoon.  Very sticky and muggy out, an no wonder, with 87% humidity.

Coffee, juices, lemonade, limeade, Gatorade, soft drinks, iced teas (sweet and unsweetened) are all ready to go.  There's also hot water for our morning hot tea drinkers.    Breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar.  Think I'm gonna get in my kitchen after a bit and make some biscuits, fry a couple sausage patties and make some sausage gravy this morning.  Today and tomorrow are my last days to have any solid food, until after I get home Monday afternoon.  (And don't you know, that'll be when I'm really, really hungry.

Anyway, you all have a good morning, take care and see you all this afternoon.

Barry {hope that's correct}, as I see Paula using it....hope you have a good day.

Still experiencing rather warm Summer temps.  73 earlier this morning, and that tells me that will translate into the low 90's by afternoon.  {If no rain system hits us}, and it sure doesn't look like it now.  We are dry....dry....dry...!

I'm going to head to our local S S office today and see if we can complete one more necessary process I'm trying to work thru these past weeks.  I have my data, and we'll see if we can get it accomplished.

Some of you may have seen my comments of some "steam" train coming down thru Muncie and back a few days ago....Well, I'm gathering more data on that.

It was 765 on a test / check out run according to what I have seen on here on it's web site.

Anyone interested in 765's activities...and it appears there will be plenty of it starting July 20th, can learn more by starting at "765.org".

I'm sure hoping some of it's "trips" will at least include passing thru Muncie here on the N S, Newcastle line.  We have a very nice place to watch for such activities...as that route is parallel with our Trail here in Muncie, and one can wait right at the restored depot, now our Trail Head....{Previous C & O route}, and now our Cardinal Greenway Trail.....Perhaps the milage is up in the 50 to 60 miles of it paved now. I believe it's finished all the way to Richmond.  That's 40 some miles.

66F and clear but once again heading into the 90's.  The wife is doing the Garage Sale thing today over at my parents house (poor her) but she signed up to help so it is her own dang fault.   Me, I will be working inside all day with the AC...

Everyone don't you know today is a lucky day!!

When else do you have the ability to just blame everything on the day.

It's already up to 80F this morning. It may rain this afternoon. Could use the rain though.

Liked yesterdays picture and today's looks good .  Hopefully I'll be able to travel again and see Colorado again.

Blown out cylinder all the best.

Quentin hope things go ok with you at social security. Had to deal with them a couple of months ago. Everyone here was surprised how easy of a time I had with them.(application and just 2 doctor visits). May you have equal time.

Just remember when all else fails, to quote Mr Rourke, "just smile"

Afternoon all.  Been a somewhat busy day for me.  Did get my biscuits made, and managed to freeze some, so whenever I want biscuits, I'll just take a couple out of the freezer, and put into the oven to bake.  Then went to the bank, and then finally got to pick up my things I will be needing Sunday afternoon.

Still no rain, still looks like it could start anytime.  Apparently, the system has kind of stalled to the south of us, and just isn't moving as fast as they all thought it would.  Hopefully, by tomorrow afternoon, it will reach us here in the Louisville area.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now underway on the warmer bar:

All kinds of fish (bass, catfish, cod, flounder, haddock, halibut, perch, Tilapia, jumbo butterfly shrimp, oysters, clams, crab cakes.

Also all the usual side dishes:  cornbread, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, pork & beans (instead of baked beans), breaded deep fried mushrooms, cole slaw, garden salad, potato salad.

Desserts:  apple, blueberry  and pecan pies, chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and peach  & cherry cobblers.

Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you all tomorrow.

Joe - mailman came thru.  Cool

CW - watermelon and cantaloupe - needed....Dinner  (bet it is good dipped in chocolate!)

That and some really cold water!  Drinks

Ah - same old, same old.  Hot, dry, summer, just like the last I don't know how many summers.  Kind of like Christmas - it comes around the same every year and every year, we seem surprised.

I use it as an excuse to not move too fast, let the dust become furniture protectors and wear something really sloppy and cool.  (feed the birds really early so the neighbors don't see me!)

.....Yes, Jen....Same old dry, hot Summer, only this time, more so.

Again today:  96.1 degrees, but humidity not as terrible as a week or so ago.

Yards and even the golf course behind me haven't been this brown in many years....if ever, since we built here 40 years ago.

Today Audrey and I are going to go to downtown and get some shopping for stuff done...then it is off to a cute little restaurant someplace there...

Good Saturday morning all.  Temp this morning is somewhere in the mid 70s, going to be another steamer day, until the rain finally shows up sometime this afternoon.  Same as Jen's and Quentin's weather:  hot, dry, hot, dry, etc.  Even our front yard is browning up, after we (Sarah) mowed earlier in the week.  Back yard has been brownish for 2, 3 weeks.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And our Saturday Brunch is now on the breakfast/warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy (some milk gravy, some sausage gravy), cantaloupe, watermelon, and per Mookie's request, some chocolate sauce for dipping the cantaloupe and watermelon!  Also have plenty of ice and water on hand, along with lemonade, limeade and there's plenty of Gatorade as well.  We got another big shipment in yesterday afternoon, early evening.

Everyone have a beautiful, good day, stay as cool as possible, and see you all this evening for our pizza fest.

I just joined this group hoping to contact Modelcar.  Either I've missed or there isn't any private messages so I apologize for posting here.

I've read an old post about the Vert-A-Pac rail cars and that is the reason for me wanting to contact Modelcar.  I don't want to hi-jack this post so Modelcar if you can email me I sure would appreciate it!  Thank you, Brian Jackson

<~>  keeping mah ears down.  Little thunder on the forum.  And it isn't even a full moon!

Not sure I understand this weather.  Extreme heat, but lower-than-usual humidity.  I know it goes down when it gets up close to 100, but 29% - that is extremely low for us.  Probably why we aren't getting any moisture.  Oh well.  Snow will be here soon enough!  Time

68° with light rain at the official weather station, but nothing at my place. Humidity is up to 78% though, so it feels like it could start raining right inside the apartment.

Didn't feel well enough to do much today. Nothing serious, just a general case of the blahs. Tomorrow will be the last day of the Stampede.

Good Sunday morning all.  73 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 88,89 degrees later this afternoon, with more showers/storms coming in a little bit later this morning.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar.

Sunday Dinner is in the Crock Pot and Slow  Cooker:  One has beef pot roast w/taters, carrots & onion, the other has a pork roast w/taters & carrots.  Have garden salads made up and in the fridge keeping cold for you all, along with some other side dishes that just need to be heated up.

I'm glad I can have my coffee this morning:  plain coffee, no cream/milk or sugar added.  Fortunately, that is how I always take my coffee, unless it is instant coffee, then I have to have at least sugar in it.

Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work, railfanning, whatever you have planned for today.

BOC, same weather conditions here in Louisville.  Looks like it is raining, but nothing yet.  Very, very muggy outside.  Getting ready to go meet the van driver, will be taking my rain coat with me, as it looks like it could start pouring any  minute.

Good Morning all...

Our day {earlier}, started with 76 as the first reading on the instrument.  That's a sign, we'll get plenty warm today....Actually, a real hot week is forecast.  Mostly 90's.

I noted about an hour ago the TV Local weather showed 92% humidity, of course it's generally higher earlier in the morning...but today will be plenty humid.

But....!  Last night about 10:30, I heard a strange sound.....RAIN...I went to the front door, which is near the home office here, and with the glass storm door closed, but main door open......Yes, I could see it RAINING.....And a pretty hard downpour.  Amazing....That was the first rain like that in well over a month...

I figured it would last about 10 min. and pass by.....and that's about what it did, it must have continued lightly, or I misread, how much we were getting in the short downburst.   Checking the rain gauge this morning, it indicated we got 1.1".....Wow.....We're not used to that.  Of course that won't make much of a dent in our dryness here, but oh, so welcome.  I can actually see some new green growth on my shrubs and some other places in the grass.....Amazing.

And for the heat that seems to be continuing, I'm surprised we're not hearing of "rail kinks" thru this area of several lines...This heat is  a step above of what we generally expect in the Summer, and I'd think that would put danger to such happening.....I imagine we're above the expected heat bracket now which CWR is put down thru this area.

And so, soon we'll get ready and head to church.  If no storms in the forecast, and there is not...believe I better drive the car......It  needs to be run some.....Just one driver now, and it's been setting in the garage for some time....
