Yep, it's snowing.   And the snowblower won't start.  Think it's time for a new one, but not today.  The roads are impossible...

I think we're well over six inches so far - possibly up to 8" or 9".

Yesterday's ice and the still-warm ground/roads are a significant problem.  I was having trouble standing up on my very slick driveway whilst shovelling.

Speaking of shovelling, I should probably head out and do it again, before it gets too deep.

I'll settle for some orange & spice tea.

....Well, we did get our low 20's by this afternoon.  Seems the weather continues about the same all day...Time's of snow activity, and then none....Looks like we might have added almost another inch here so far today.  Still not bad, if one is not where drifting across from open fields apply...

It's cold.  With the wind....Feels cold enough, we are very happy to stay in the rest of the day, after our trip to the Dr. this morning.

Result:  Sinus drainage, so now have 10 days of antibiotics.  Alright with me, I just want to get rid of the crap.

Cannonball, sure thing on having sassafrass tea.  Also have orange & spice tea ready for Larry and anyone else  who want either or of the teas.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way, with all the regular types of fish, and all the side dishes and desserts.

Everyone have a good evening, keep warm, and take care.  Think our current temp is about 23 degrees.  That's probably the high for today.  Don't even want to know what the current "feels like" temp is.

.....Finally, calm winds.  That was killing us.  Morning temp;  18

Overcast gray skies, but pretty bright.  {23 degrees now, 11:38am}.

Decided we received about an inch of snow yesterday...Won't see much today.

Sunshine tomorrow.

And so Winter continues on.....And moving at a pretty good rate.

Note lots of sunshine down in Roanoke this morning.

Item:  Interesting photos of the modern cruise ship that hit rock and ripped open a lengthy gash in it's bottom, and sank...!  Must have done so rather quickly.  luckily, it's right at shore....I really don't have any details of how many might have died from this weird incident.

Ship is laying on it's side in what looks like {guessing}, 50 - 60' of water.

Hello everyone.  It has been a very weird morning for me.  After going to bed about 9:30 last night, woke up at 2 a.m., and could not go back to sleep.  tossed and turned for over an hour, before going ahead and getting up.  Booted up the computer, and went through emails.  By the time I decided it was a appropriate hour to come in here, I was ready to go back to sleep, finally. So did that.  Been up for just about 2 hours now.

Mookie and everyone, coffee is made, and I'm drinking some.

Believe we'll be having a heat wave here in Louisville this afternoon:  our high is to get to 33 degrees today.  Everyone have a good afternoon, and I'll see you all back in here later this afternoon, with our Saturday Pizza Fest menu.

Joe - just got home from inspecting the BNSF - they ran everything they could get their hands on last nite, but did have some freight today.

Brought up 4 9's from the south with a very short train.  Looks like power move.

Sent a DEEX your way - get your lighter ready.

Sunny but rather chilly - altho did see some young thang walking in a bareshoulder top and short skirt and probably lots of goosebumps (think it is around 40.)  But she did have boots on!!!!

Sigh

Mookie

But she did have boots on!!!!

Sigh

Mook - The way fashion is today, she'd have been wearing those boots in July, too...

Cold.  All day.  Single digits cold.

New snowblower in the shed.  Old one wouldn't start, and I didn't want to take the time just now to hunt down somebody to repair it.  I'm sure a tune-up would do the trick, but I should have thought of that back in June...

Headed for Utica tomorrow for the toy train show at the station.  Got to do some recruiting - volunteers are always needed.

Just started snowing a little bit ago.  Seems to be covering the gravel next door in the parking lot, but so far, isn't sticking to the sidewalk or street too much.

Here is the line up for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

DESSERT PIZZAS:

01.  Apple

02.  Cherry

03.  Peach

04.  Strawberry/raspberry

Everyone have a good evening, keep warm, take care, and maybe later on tonight, we can pop some popcorn, and fix some hot teas and hot cider.

....Heat wave here too....Just now peeked, and it indicated 24 degrees.  Might have been a bit higher earlier.  But since I can't see the readout from my La z Boy, I didn't note how "warm" it got....

Sky is mostly clear, with just fine cover...but sun has been shining this afternoon.

No incentive to go out anywhere today, we just let the Winter day go on without us.

Ball Game {Pacer's}, this evening....So that will be watched and let the cold be enjoyed by whom ever cares to be out in it.

Short skirt and boots combination in January....??  No complaints.

Just got back from a carbon monoxide alarm activation (that happens when you run snowmobiles in the garage with the door closed...).

Thermometer in the truck was reading -9F.  It's a little warmer here at the house right now: -4F.

Gonna be a chilly night.  Time to dig up an extra blanket.

The boots were not the part of the outfit we were looking at - it was the 4 string top she had on with no coat.  I was looking at her from a mother's standpoint.  Driver was looking at her goosebumps.

Tree - I think you best make it 2 blankets.  And plug one of them in!

I dread the fact that this is going to happen here before summer.  Grumpy

Hi everyone. I thought I would drop by for a Hawaiian pizza before the 11:00 news comes on.

18°F now, but it is expected to drop to near zero later. We are looking at some flurries over the next few days but nothing too serious.

I've been busy watching Curling. Three games a day since Thursday. One of the commentators had a good joke that would apply to those folks up in Cordova, AK, with all their snow. He say's "you can tell it is deep when you only have ¼ of the house showing!" He is from Moncton, NB and has had his share of that action himself.

No new local RR news.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  23 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Think we're supposed to get up close to or in the low 40s today.  Sure will be nice. Hope you all had a very good evening last night.

Coffee, orange juice and other juices are fresh and ready to go, along with hot chocolate, hot cider, and there's plenty of hot water for our hot tea drinkers.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, and breakfast wraps w/bacon, eggs, green peppers, red peppers, cheese and whatever else you'd like in the wrap.

Believe my sinus infection is finally beginning to get better.  Still sneezing some, but the dripping is better and so is the cough.

Everyone have a  good morning, take care going to Church, work, or rail fanning; and if anyone has a special request for Sunday Dinner, please let me know.

Since we have one more beautiful day here in Spa-land - how about steaks on the grill?

Heading out again for more vitamin D.  And as the sun moves, so does the cat.   @

39 and sunny and we seem to be having trouble with our citizens not wearing all their clothes this month.  Now we have someone "on run" and no shirt or shoes.  (hope this one is a male, but who knows!)

I gotta get darker sunglasses!

Mookie, your wish is our command!  As a matter of fact, Walt is right now, cleaning the snow off the grill.  I'm preparing the steaks to go on the grill, along with the "baked taters".  But, Walt says that, even though it is warmer today, he won't be dressed in shorts , while he is grilling.  Smile, Wink & Grin  He's doing the KP duty today, as I have to make a trip to the library:  have some books in, that I need to pick up, and have some books to return.  And I've got the side dishes ready, and on the warmer bar.  Salads in the cooler.

Mookie

Now we have someone "on run" and no shirt or shoes.

Good morning.

Mookie, if we have anybody running around like that here today their mind is seriously clouded by drugs or alcohol. Currently it is 0°F with a N 17 mph wind, giving us a windchill of -22°. The relative humidity is up to 71%, and there is light snow falling.

Baby it is cold outside.

And it isn't as warm in here as I would like, either. During gusts you can really feel the cold coming through the walls.

That is all I've got for now.

Dinner Since it is so cold, how about a rolled pork roast baked with mash taters & gravy.  Corn bread to help sop up the gravy and some steamed collard greens.  For dessert, lattice apple pie  and wash it all down with coffee.   The clouds are building up here in the mtns. along with the wind. Snow &rain in the guessing dept. of weather.. I'll tell Shirl to toss another log on the fire, if she don't hit me with it first~~~ HEE HEE.  Hope everyone is  warm& dry.

                                                         Respectfully, Shirl & Cannonball

After church, it was Red Lobster.....Rainbow Trout.  Lots of traffic today...The cold did not keep everyone in today.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Hope you all had a great weekend.  We watched a pretty good movie last night, Super 8, about this group of teens making a Super 8 movie about zombies, who witness a train crash.  Then, people and animals start disappearing, including the sheriff.  Really enjoyed that movie.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, and breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Have only been up about 45 minutes, so haven't heard any news or weather.  But, from what I remember of the 6 p.m. news/weather last night, we're supposed to get up into the mid 40s today.  Think it is only to be a lovely day.

Cannonball, since I didn't see you request for Sunday Dinner yesterday, that is what we'll have this afternoon/tonight.  Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Peace be with you. 29 and sunny in Carolina, expected to make it to 58 later.

I think I've heard it all now.  Police in NC report that a guy smuggled a large frame .38 revolver with a 5" barrel into the jail in his "posterior body cavity". It was so far in that a body cavity strip search failed to find it. Good thing he didn't have an Uzi!

After that, not much to report. Everyone have a great day.
