Rooting for Cincinnati over Ohio State tonight. (Went to both schools)...Any cowards like those in Columbus who have actively refused to ever play their in-state rivals again (since 1962 after losing two consecutive Final Four games to the Bearcats) deserve to lose after that show of bad sportmanship.

MUD:  Kentucky would not play Louisville (?) until state legislature passed bill requiring same. Rupp nearly had a heart attack.

Good Friday morning everyone.  65 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with light rain.  It should be a day with on again/off again rain, until later this afternoon, when we get a chance of some thundershowers.  Our projected high today is the low 70s, going down into the mid to uppers 50s overnight, for a few days to come.  By Tuesday, should climb back up to the upper 70s for highs.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, eggs, oatmeal, cold cereal and toast; or, you can have doughnuts, danish or muffins.

Think I'm going to start the day by putting up my coffee cup, and having a ginger ale.  The old tum-tum isn't feeling too good this morning.  And not going to try to put anything to eat in my tummy for awhile, until it settles down.  Ick!

Everyone have a good morning, take care, stay dry, if you're getting the rain showers, and see you all later.

Good Morning Railfans!

Well two of my NCAA bracket teams won last night out of the three I had a chance with.  Tonight I have another 3 out of 4 with a better chance of getting all three.  We have 55 brackets in play in our company NCAA challenge and I moved up from #44 to #32 with those two wins.  No hope to get past the top players but its still nice to get out of the bottom ranks.

Looking at 70F - 80F over the next few days so summer is rapidly approaching.  It even looks like I will need to do some watering this weekend which is weird as March is normally a snowy month for us.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Yes, Joe, I am feeling better this morning.  Thank you for thinking of me.  Think I might have eaten something Thursday night, that didn't totally agree with me.  But, its no fun to wake up with a very queasy stomach, and your head swimming around.  Until after 5 p.m. yesterday, think I spent more time lying in the bed, than sitting up.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:

bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruits (kiwi, cantaloupe, bananas, apples, papayas, fried taters, fried country ham w/red eye gravy, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits, and cinnamon streusel coffee cake, will be on the warmer bar until noon time.

Jefferson County, KY did have a EF-1 tornado touch down in the eastern part of the county/metro area yesterday afternoon.  Right around the Highview/Fern Creek area, in the south east part of the county.  That is the area where I grew up.  Fortunately, no one was injured, and no fatalities from it.  There was one home, a 2-story house, that became a 1-story home, when the 2nd floor collapsed on first floor.  Fortunately, the homeowners were in Colorado, and are expected to return sometime later today.  Their neighbor called them, and let them know what had happened.

I managed to stay up and watch the entire Kentucky - Indiana game.  It was a great game, both teams played well, but:   UK came out on top!

Everyone have a good day, enjoy, and see you all this evening for our pizza fest.

....A much cooler day.  Checked the rain gauge, and it indicated we've received 1.65" in the last 2 days.

Now, this morning and still, waiting for grass to dry....I must get on the lawn again....It's growing so fast now....and is a pretty deep green too.

To get up to 68 today.  Had 55 earlier this morning.

....Any one else note the word in the news this morning of an effort by FECI to create a passenger train service from Miami area to Orlando area....Priviate enterprise...not Amtrak.  200 mi. corridor of existing route, and will need about 40 miles of track to come into Orlando area.....

Cost mentioned at 1 billion dollars and possibly by 2014....

Seems a bit unusual of a priviate enterprise to be jumping into this...??  It would certainly be a nice start to get such a passenger route up and running without hearing the back and forth of why we do and don't want.....and will / won't spend money...bla, bla. by the political types.

.....After lunch time, the sun finally made it out and it turned into a real nice afternoon.  So...a badly needed mowing was accomplished.  {Just 3 days since the last mowing}....Just now cleaned up the edges of the driveway and sidewalks...Cleaned up the grass off the driveway and....tractor.

I did see 68 degrees here this afternoon and it may have been a bit higher.  Nice temp to mow.

Next in about another hour is another ball game with our Pacers.  Playing Milwaukee this evening.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day, although with partly cloudy skies along with sunshine.  High will be in the mid to upper 60s, I think is what I heard.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready for consumption.  On the warmer bar this morning:  cold pizzas, and breakfast wraps w/bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese, blueberry muffins and pancakes w/maple syrup with your choice of bacon or sausage.

For our Sunday Dinner,  I have the Crock Pots/Slow Cookers going with Vegetable beef soup and Sloppy joes, and we'll also have some subs/hoagie sandwiches, and maybe fix some more pizzas for game watching.

Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work or going rail fanning.  Come 2:20, I'll be glued to the TV set, to watch my Wildcats play.  Goooo Cats!!

.....Low clouds burning off....seems to be mostly fog.  To be a nice day...Dry.  56 when I first looked earlier this morning.

So, maybe the car to church today and let the truck rest.

Late afternoon Nascar Sprints to watch out west.  Temps here today no doubt a bit cooler, perhaps in high 60's.

Good Monday morning everyone.  What a beautiful day yesterday.  Got to Church for Sunday School yesterday morning, and remembered that I was supposed to fix something to bring to Church:  we had a visiting church yesterday, and we were to all fix something to bring for dinner after.  But we seemed to have enough.

Well, it looks like Saturday will be a Battle of the Bluegrass down in New Orleans.  Seems like just about everyone around here are going nuts already:  vehicles going by, honking their horns and some of the cars have UK and U of L flags on their vehicles, as they drive along, honking their horns.  If I heard correctly, this is the first time that UK and U of L have played together since 1975 in the tournament.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, eggs, cereal, toast, cantaloupe, watermelon, papaya and kiwi.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Both of the teams I was favoring are out of the tournament, so I really don't care.

I hope this weekend wasn't a harbinger of summer.  The sun went down Friday night and has now come back up on Monday morning.  The weekend was gray.

Not that I saw much of it, having spent most of my time indoors at that local outdoor show (?!?!).  Got a lot of interest in the railroad, though, especially from folks looking for an outdoor activity like our "River and Rail" or "Bike and Rail."

I'm also hopeful that today's fall-like weather (29F right now) doesn't mean that last week was summer...  In reality, it's just more seasonable, but all that nice weather we've been having certainly spoiled us.

The warm weather and no moisture/green vegitation to go with it has red flag warnings up all over the state here. One range fire, measured in square miles (264), not acres, already has put firefighters in the hospital with serious burns after the wind changed directions in northern Colorado. Both of the big railroads here are very careful to make sure any locomotive in the terminal can't carbon-up before being sent out of the terminals.

....Oops....Down to 46 this morning earlier.  But full sunshine is blazing in my eastern home office window here.  Some clouds.

So, I'm not going to complain about the weather.  In fact, still have my shorts on as I've been wearing for some time now in this unusual weather in March.

Hope we don't see any hard freeze.  All blossoms have been out for some time now, and seem to be lasting a bit longer this season.  Everything that should be green....Is...And very pretty.  Including my yard.  Sis in law said it looked like green velvet in a photo I sent her right after the last mowing.  I don't say it's quite that nice, but it is "nice".

To be sunny today and tomorrow.

Wishing all a good work week.

Good Morning Railfans!

Remember last month when I was talking about record snow fall and we ended at #2 in history for February; well, we are now looking at the driest March in history and breaking record highs along the way.  Summer may have gotten here all too soon which means we might be looking a lots of fires coming this year. Sigh

Lions, chickens, copcars  and most of Denver here running air conditioners not to mitigate the heat, but rather the smoke. Methinks we will be on the national news tomorrow morning.

I'm told that large red and purple orb to the west is the sun.

Mooks: Bring in the laundry and close them windders, it's coming your way. Smoke is as thick as fog.

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Gee whiz, the weather out towards Colorado sounds like mid, late July, thru August/September with the wild fires starting already.  Mud, will be praying for you all to get some much needed rain, along with anyone else who is having a dry, dry spring.

Really enjoyed the weather here in Louisville yesterday. afternoon.  Took another long, slow walk.  The weather was a tad cool and breezy, so when I started out, had on a medium weight sweat jacket.  By the time I was walking back towards home, had to push the sleeves up.  But really enjoyed the walk.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and hopefully, I'll be back in later.

Cold here as well.  The sun is out, though.

NWS has advised that things are going to be a bit dry here for a while - all the worse for fires.  We generally don't get wildland fires that can be measured in any more than a few acres, but they tend to run into inhabited structures a lot faster.

That, and we aren't really set up for fighting fires of the magnitude MC is seeing.

Fortunately, there's a statewide ban on outdoor burning until the middle of May.  At least if someone starts one, we can take comfort in the fact that they may well be facing a $500 fine.  Publicize a few of those and people get smart really quickly...

Good Morning Railfans...

Here is the latest news; the largest of the fires which broke out around 5:30PM grew from 15 acres to 3,000+ acres in a matter of hours do to strong winds.  They evacuated 900+ homes already and were fighting the fire from the ground only yesterday do to the winds but I believe I heard an air assault started this morning now that the winds have slowed down.  There are several other fires that have broken out all across the front range as yesterday our humidity dropped to 5% and with no snow/rain now for nearly a month it didn't take much to start them.  Smoke in the city is not as bad this morning.

My thought go out to those impacted and still in harms way this morning...

One fatality, homes lost in Lower North Fork Fire in Jefferson County
