.....Right around 80 degrees here too.  When I went to bed last night, the instrument was indicating 67.9....That would be about normal for the 3rd week in July.  {Really meaning the early morning temp}.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Temp in the  upper 50s to low 60s this morning, should see a high of around 82 again today.  Rain should be out of here by 10 a.m., then sunshiny.  Hope so, cause think I'll take a trip to the library, and return a few books that we're through reading.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is ready and on the warmer bar, including a selection of doughnuts, danish, muffins, etc.

Really enjoyed watching UK and WKU play last night:  stayed home and watched it on the tube, instead of trying to fight all that traffic downtown.  Everyone have a beautiful morning, take care, and see you this afternoon.

OK - home for the day, so must tidy up some details.

CW - and anyone wanting to watch the Netherlands webcams - just type in Overspoor in your browser.

That should take you to a very colorful page that gives you lots to look over.  Middle of the page is Super Cam Selector.  You can open each one and see what and "who" you want to watch.

There is a kestrel nestbox inside and outside.  When Lady Bird lays her eggs, which she will probably do around the end of March, she will lay them one at a time and over several days.  Check in during the daylight hours.

Same for the perigrine falcons - inside and out.  I know the kestrels will leave the eggs just lying there until all are laid and then Lady Bird will incubate them.

Snell Loop is good duck watching with an occasional heron/egret wandering thru.  One cam is of the brilliantly colored Kingfisher - I didn't know birds could fly with almost no tail, but the Kingfishers are masters - both flying and diving.  They nest in the holes of the creek bank that is on one of the cams.  Fun to watch them going in and out of the holes.

Railcam is always busy and visible 24/7/365.  They do railwork on the weekends around 3 am their time.

Right now there is a 6 hour difference in time and at end of March when they go on EDST, there will be 7 until we change time again.  We are about a month ahead of them.  During most of the year, the difference is 7 hours.

That is a real "tavern" on right side of railcam; they have street parades every so often and seem to be well regulated in traffic flow.

I just saw Dad (Two-toes/no beak) go in the nest box with a mouse.  After his face-to-face meetings with her ripping the mouse out of his beak, he is learning to carry them in his claw and dangle them outside the box.   He called for Lady Bird, but she is busy elsewhere.  So he ate the mouse. (rated PG-17) They are hard to tell apart, but if the bird is preening, it is Lady Bird.  Ah, even in nature.....

Off to do things I don't want to do, but must.  Domestic Engineer you know....

Good Morning Railfans!

It's another wonderful day in the Mile High City.  Currently 49F but once again heading up into the 70's with a weekend that looks to be nice as well.

As for the NCAA Basketball tournament, I am12-4 in the first half of Round 2 and this is part of a Owner/Company event as a fun employee activity the owners setup and they are also participating/winning in.  Laugh  We are a small upcoming company and the owners sponsor these team building events off on on throughout the year.  They even setup some of these as fun competitions with other companies (Partners / Customers) as a way to bound us together like family.

"Overspoor"....Had to download the extension to that to check out the Netherlands cams this morning.  Some changes have been made to the cams....

Don't know if I can still contact these cams the way I always did it before or not...I have not been on that web site for some time.  Just thought I'd check out this site re: from Jen, and after I downloaded some data, the cams came up.

Saw some different cam locations I'd not seen before.  Can't hear the sounds as I'm fighting an audio problem here....???

Avatar...Trivia:  A German effort pre WWII with 4 driving axles, but each driving axle has a "V" cylinder arrangement on the axle end...{like looking at the end of a gasoline vehicle engine crankshaft end and being able to see the "V" arrangement of pistons....Except this engine is a steam engine.  {A V-8}, I understand in a test, it did run roughly, 125 mph...!

Mookie, thank you very much for the info on the Netherlands webcams.  I'll be trying that out shortly.

Went to the library this morning, and stopped in to another location, to reschedule an appointment that I/we missed/forgot about last week.  New appointment is for Tuesday afternoon, which means I'll probably be leaving the house around 1 p.m.

Here is our meal lineup for the rest of today:

FISH:  Bass, catfish, cod, flounder, haddock, halibut, perch, scallops, shrimp, clams, and tilapia

SIDE DISHES:  Baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread, fries, deep-fried breaded mushrooms, mac & cheese, spinach, mustard greens

DESSERTS:  Chocolate cake w/white icing, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, pecan pie, lemon pie, and the following cobblers:  apple, peach, strawberry

We've had little spurts of sunshine today, but it has remained on the cool/chilly side (at least to me).  I don't even know what our current temp is.  What with my errands earlier, I missed the noon news/weather reports, as I didn't get back home until about 1:20 this afternoon. Oh well, life happens, doesn't it.

Everyone take care, have a good evening, and see you all later.

Afternoon all. It's a sweltering 82* here on the western side of the Hoosier State. It was actually kind of miserable at school though, the massive chiller machines that cool the building won't start up so although it was 80*, they kept pumping out roasting hot air... Angry

Anyway, the N&W J report is coming along well. I'm up to 9 pages already and have only touched on the design of the locomotive. this is a massive undertaking!

Have a great weekend all!

Good Saturday morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone.  And yes, this Irish kid is wearing green today:  green slacks and a green sweater (lightweight, open weave), so I won't get too warm this afternoon, wearing it.

Joe, thanks for the green eggs and ham.  That is a very fitting breakfast for today.  I will be baking cookies, which will be shaped like shamrocks, and decorated accordingly.

Going to go look at the bus schedule, and head to the store, to see if they've gotten the corned beef briskets in.  Sure do hope so, as that is what we were wanting to fix for today (here at home).  We'll have our regular pizza fest menu for tonight, unless you all wish to have something different.  Just let me know, okay?  Meanwhile, everyone have a good day, looks like it's going to be another gorgeous day, with only a 30% chance of some rain/thundershowers around our area.

....Oh boy....What a beautiful "Spring" morning.  The full works.  Sunshine...blue sky.....and warmth.

Several things to accomplish...One, is to take some items over to Goodwill....But one other thing just might not wait until Monday as I had planned.  That is...Awake the tractor, and make sure the tires are up to where they should be, and do the first mowing....It's growing like wildfire now, especially since the fertilizing several days ago.

I don't mind doing that.   I love this time of the year, and with the exceptional weather we've been having....{actually most of the Winter}, it's so nice.  Blossoms bursting out....Leaves, and everything that grows is coming to life...early...!

So we'll get started soon after a few minutes on here.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Temp in the upper 50s, low 60s this morning, with all the rain out of our area, heading eastward.  Should make it back up into the mid to upper 70s today.  Should be a pretty good day.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar, consisting of bacon, eggs, toast, and, if anyone wants, cold pizzas from last night.

Been up for a couple of hours, gotten hair washed, shower in and kitchen taken care of.  Now, I can relax for a couple of hours, until time to get ready for Church this morning.

Think after Church, I'll get the grills going, and grill out for our Sunday Dinner.  How does that sound to y'all?

Everyone take care going to Church, work, rail fanning, whatever you have planned for today, and see you all later.

Well, another St Patty's Day Chicken Barbeque is in the books.  Last year we had over 100 halves left over, so we cut back.  We could have sold most of them today - more people that I'd like were turned away.

Moving a ton of freight 500 miles on a gallon of fuel requires that a lot of tons get moved all at once.

Around 70 here today, and more of that to follow.  Spring appears to be here, although I'm not sure we ever had winter.  Could be an interesting spring, though, judging by some of the weather.  The EF3 tornado in MI was about 40 miles from the old hometown.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Yesterday was such a beautiful, gorgeous day.  Our high yesterday was about 82 degrees.  Currently, we have 64 degrees here in Louisville, going for about the same high today, possibly a degree or two warmer, with plenty of sunshine.  Maybe our grass will totally dry out, so we can do our first cutting.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a great morning, take care and see you all later.

Anyone Heard from Mookie with all that Nasty Weather that ripped Nebrasky to Shreds last night Yes I know she is no where near North Platte but a few of my OTR buddies were saying Lincoln got hit hard with Sevre Thunderstorms also.

Always at war with those that think OTR trucking is EASY.

Ed - CW - I am Embarrassed blushing from the concern, but the only accuracy in the bad weather was that they had a tornado at North Platte.  Heard it knocked over some rail cars @ Bailey Yard, but that was the extent of it.

The only thing that Lincoln got hit with was high humidity.  Been watching a big rain band heading up from the south, but it gets right to the edge of Lincoln and then evaporates.  Have had tiny sprinkles and sun all morning.  Gets my window sill wet and then dries it off.

We may eventually get wet, but it won't be anything more than a gentle rain.

Ed - might ask your OTR buddies if they are sure they know where Lincoln is - we get mistaken a lot for Omaha, but we are the quiet one in their shadow.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Peace be with you. Today is the last day of winter and Carolina had a high of 86! There have been some thunderstorms out and about, but none here.

The boss took the girls the the beauty parlor, and they came home not knowing how to act. At least, now, they are good looking like I am.

That's about it from Pettibone's mortgage manor, so everyone take care and stay safe.

Ed - I got to thinking about the OTR drivers saying Lincoln.  I bet they meant Lincoln County - North Platte is in Lincoln County.

News reports say that Bailey Yard was (probably partially) closed overnite until noon today.  Driver sez saying Bailey Yard means about 1/3 of the middle of Nebraska.  Did get some houses, but was isolated to the western part of NP.

A few years ago, when my late aunt was selling her cottage (a family icon for 51 years), she was gifting some of the stuff around the cottage to her nieces and nephews.

One item I got was a 14' aluminum rowboat.  But it's been sitting in the back yard ever since.  One of my fellow firefighters happened to mention that he was looking for such a boat, so I offered it to him.  After finally establishing a fair asking price (how much is a 45 year old aluminum rowboat worth?), he bought it.   One less thing to move around the yard when I'm mowing...

Now if I can get the sailboat seaworthy again...  Today would have been great, although I'm sure the water is still plenty cold.  We were in the low 70's today, and it looks like the rest of the week will be just a nice!

Of course, I'm working at an outdoor show, pushing the railroad, over the weekend.
