# 8 and # 9 - I will wrap them up and have them for breakfast - right out of the fridge!  Include a glass of milk and.....Yum

3 above right now, so feel right at home with the rest of you being cold.

Bruce - we have a north frontage, so I don't sit on the north end of the duplex (living room and master bedroom).  My closet is in a north corner with the door closed, so clothes come out of there semi-frozen and must defrost before being wearable.

Well, snow tomorrow nite, so must make sure my sled runners are sharp.  Whee.....

I'm going to Calgary.  It's warmer there.  All of zero here.

We got one of our cars "hoed out" today, and a few more square feet of the locomotive stripped.  Long day.

I'm pooped.  Time for bed.

Good evening, from a chilly Calgary. It is 22° but the windchill is bringing it down to 10°. And the wind is coming from the exact wrong direction. It is making the corner where I sit to type this very uncomfortable. In the last day and a half I have only been over here long enough to check on the things I have to, and then I move elsewhere.

Elsewhere tonight is going to be in front of the TV. The Canadian Junior Women's Curling Championship is on tonight. The Junior Men's Championship game is on tomorrow. World Champions have to start somewhere, and many have started their careers wining these games. And unlike the problem I mentioned a few months ago regarding broadcasting University Football, sponsors pay the cost of the Curling broadcasts.

So, a Canadian Bacon pizza seems like a good choice tonight, and some hot chocolate later on, when I come back to this computer. I generally only eat popcorn once or twice a decade, and since we are now just into our third year of this one, I might partake of some of that as well this evening.

No new actual RR news lately, but this management situation at CP certainly keeps me busy trying to follow all of the in's and out's. I keep thinking of something I want to write on a thread, and them something else happens. The more I see, the more I see the current situation is really not good, but as to the best solution, oh boy.

The sun has been out all day here, but is ccccooooolllld!  I think, when I came to the computer a few minutes ago, I saw a current temp listed of 27 degrees F.  Decided to take a walk earlier this afternoon, since I don't think I have gotten out all week, to do any good walking.  Yes, I was bundled up real good:  layered clothing, coat zipped, hood up, and coat & hood velcroed shut.  So I didn't get too cold, walking.  But the wind is something else, as in bitterly cold.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu for tonight:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

I think, along with a slice of supreme tonight, I'm going to try a ham & green pepper slice.  For some reason, that sounds really, really good tonight.

Later on, I'll pop some popcorn and fix some hot chocolate for everyone.  Sounds like a good night to have that combination, doesn't it.  Everyone take care, keep warm and see you all later.

.....Our take on the weather yesterday was {including overnight}, about an inch.  So not bad.  It's moving on east.  Sky is very bright, overcast but sunshine is coming thru at times.

Early this morning we had 16 degrees.  Now approaching 20.  But the occasional  sun has dried up most of the ice on the street.  Tomorrow to be more sunshine, but still pretty cool.  So not too bad.

Maybe it's when you are stabbed with the needle you won't squirt  all over them  or the X ray will show  the stomach and the food they can't eat themselves.  Ain't  getting older tons of fun??  The best of good results on the test .

Brrr! Good morning from the great city of Franklin Ky. I figured it would be a lot warmer daown here than up in Indiana! Guess I was wrong. Thanks for breakfast CW! Also, may I just say Wlat and Paula that the roads in Louisville are a NIGHTMARE! Currently at the Hampton Inn here at Franklin. When we checked in last night the one thing that was not satisfacorty was the coffee pot in our room was lovingly located ON THE BACK OF THE TOILET!

Ahh well. It was a very nice room. Hopefully we're gonna cook through Tennasee and Alabama today. Hope to make it into the Sunshine State by tonight.

As I look out the window here in Franklin, I can't help but imagine the old L&N pulling the Pan American through here at speed. That lonesome whistle off in the distance just sounds so sweet...

Have a good day all!

Brrrr, Good Saturday morning everyone.  We have a temp of 24 degrees F this morning, w/winds at 18 mph, making it feel like about 8 degrees outside.  Supposed to see the temp 'climb' to 29 by 5 p.m., with plenty of sunshine, but it definitely won't be very warm outside today.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, and plenty of hot water for hot tea are all ready  to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, waffles, plus the doughnuts, danish, muffins, etc., from yesterday morning.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, keep warm, and I'll see you this evening, for our pizza fest.

...Slightly above freezing, and we're getting that possibly up to 2" or so of snow.  Weather people say it will be, for the most part, by us around 9 pm...Flurries overnight.

Colder tomorrow...and maybe some sunshine.

Must run, ball game coming on...Pacer's {our team}, vs Memphis.

And did not get to see the video from Darren yet, but certainly will a bit later.

I'm baaaack.  Guess everything went o.k. this morning.  I was back home right around noon.  Put a pot of coffee on, and fixed me something to eat.  Then took a 2 hour nap.  Don't really expect to hear anything, until I go back to the cardivascular dr. on 3/2/12.  At least,  I hope I don't hear anything before then.

Our Friday Fish Fry, with all the different kinds of fish, and all the side dishes are ready and waiting on the warmer bar.  Dessert menu is the usual cakes, pies and cobblers.

Staying inside, where it is nice and toasty warm.  The wind seems to practically cut you into (at least that's how I felt) this morning, and early afternoon.

Everyone take care,  enjoy your evening and see you all later.

Thanks!

.....Now that's a neat mini train.  Body is really realistic looking.  Can't tell the gauge...maybe 18" or 2'.

Here in Muncie now....Very light snow.  Possible 1 to 2" today.  We seem to be on the southern edge of the weather system bringing in some of the white stuff and moving east.  Temp right no: 32.7

If it really doesn't do more than that, no problem.  Much colder for the weekend, but some sunshine.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 19F and Sunny here at 5280+ and they still say we will see some snow on Saturday.  Things at least melted enough yesterday that when I got home I was able to break away part of the road ruts in front of the house.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Cloudy, temp around 33 degrees, and cold here in Louisville.  Think our temps will hover in the low to mid 30s most of the day today.  Snow showers/flurries will be in mid day to early afternoon (according to weatherman).  But no 'heavier' snow showers until 6 p.m or later tonight.  Not supposed to see more than 1/2 in to 1 in. accumulation, though.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:

1.  Doughnuts (including the chocolate covered, cream filled long johns, which happens to be my all time favorite)

2.  Danish

3.  Muffins (assorted flavors)

4.  Reg. breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, oatmeal, or bacon/sausage, biscuits & gravy

Gang, count yourselves lucky, that you can have something to eat and drink this morning:  I can't have anything at all this morning, and I'm really, really wanting something to drink!!Think I'll put a Diet Dr. Pepper in my bag to take with me, so when they get through with me, I cant quench my thirst.  The worst phrase anyone can hear is "Nothing to eat or drink after midnight!"

Everyone take care, have a good morning, and see you all sometime this afternoon.

WOW, lots of good stuff happening in the Cafe and on the site overall.

I would like to wish a belated Happy anniversary to Paula and Walt.

I have really liked the two Depot pictures posted yesterday. First, the one of the Lyons, CO depot posted in the Cafe. It kind of makes me think of what a Grand Trunk Pacific (CN predecessor) depot would look like if they had built single story variants. Is that structure with the larger windows in the back left of the photo part of the depot? If so, was it a dwelling for an Agent?

Second, the Photo of the Day of the Niles, MI depot. That is just beautiful. And both buildings have three window bays for the Operators. As I have mentioned before, I like to look for the Operators office, no matter how large the Station. And only the newest examples don't seem to have one.

A bit cooler here today, 27° with a windchill of 21°. They are calling for snow flurries early tomorrow.

Johnny, please tell Ricki "Happy Birthday" for me!!  Hope she's having a very good day.  How is she doing?  Better each day, hopefully.

Our meal for the rest of the afternoon/evening:

1.  Leftover vegetable beef soup w/baked cornbread

2.  Chilli (mild and medium hot) w/choice of saltines or oyster crackers

3.  Leftover Italian spaghetti casserole

4.  Oyster Stew

Going to do my best to make it in early tomorrow morning:  have to be ready to head out the door by 8:31, to go to the hospital for the abdominal aortic ultrasound.  Everyone enjoy your evening, take care and see you all later.

Mookie, think I have to agree with you:  Mom probably went camping with them, and while the boys were sleeping, he killed her, and disposed of her body somewhere.  Wonder if that's why he killed himself and his sons:  to keep them from talking about what they knew.

Paula, this is possible, but I do not recall ever seeing this thought posited by anyone here.  It is certainly seem odd that the boys did not say anything such as, "Mom went with us, but did not come back home with us." Now, I do recall seeing, or hearing in the last few days, something to the effect that the boys may have known something that they had not spoken of.

Today is Ricki's 83rd birthday, and daughter Ginny plans some kind of celebration for her at the nursing facilty. Three years ago, Ginny and daughter Katie arranged a quite successful surprise luncheon for her at our church (I did not breath a word of it to Ricki, but Katie did give her an invitation to lunch after church for that day).

Good Morning Railfans!

It's a bit warmer today (24F) but cold air is heading back in this weekend with another chance of some white stuff.  The ice ruts on the side streets can be allot of fun even with a 4x4 and it looks like they might still be with us for awhile.  Still working on uploading my model RR inventory roster shots to my new modeling blog.

Right now it's all about "I Love NY" DHNY Boxcars like this real one...

Tree - your neighborhood south of you looks mighty blue.  When it is hot in the summer, why doesn't it turn pink or red?

Occasionally, it does, but we'd really prefer that it not stay that way for an extended period.  Especially not the pink/purple stuff...

Being 2k. mi. from there would best of wishes  and an easier job help in any way?  However, I have been contacted to be on the list of vollenteers to help with cosmetics, if needed on the2355 Baldwin  t31 in Mesa.  That is closer.  Also do you know what is being used  for lagging now that asbestos is outlawed??  Just curious , I saw  on Trains & locomotives  mon. the 614 Greenbrier  restored after the fire burned the barn down.                                     Cannonball Jim

Mookie, since the family lived here, there is something in the paper or on the local news everyday. With things I had to do, I knew nothing of it until I began reading the morning paper Monday, and the news was, of course, the main item on the front page. I was horrified to read of the destruction of life by a man who, apparently, thought only of himself.

The man was the only "person of interest" in the matter of the disappearance of his wife. He claimed to know nothing of how or why she had disappeared, but found her gone after taking the boys camping on a cold December night. I do not know how the police here can now pursue the matter of her disappearance.

Pasta - yessss......soup tomorrow after it has rested a day in fridge!  Dinner

Johnny - that story shocked even the Driver - and he doesn't shock easily.  How sad.

Joe - hang onto them until late next week- too darn cold to go watch.  I heard the motors pulling going south - probably to warmer weather?

Tree - your neighborhood south of you looks mighty blue.  When it is hot in the summer, why doesn't it turn pink or red?

I think I pulled a muscle in mah brain on that one - must go rest......

Vegetable beef soup will hit the spot today.. Aledo JR high girls had an away game in Knoxville last night. The bus driver decided to go though downtown Galesburg on the way. A train blocked the grade crossing for a long time. One of the girls had a GPS and told the driver how to get to an underpass. Sad, but the girls didn't get a chance to warm up before the game, then lost.
