Another streak of weather diagonial across Indiana right now, moving east. Tornado advisory along it until 8 pm.  68 degrees here now, and some wind has come back to us....Looking out the office window here, there are some fast moving clouds with a heading of northeast.

We should have it cross our area within the hour.

Edit:     That nasty line of weather has passed us several hours back now....Haven't looked at the rain gauge, but we'll check it in the morning and I'm guessing we've added another inch.  Some nasty wind with it as it passed too.  That's our cost of having this warm weather this time of the season.  {And finding cooler air someplace to mix with it}.

We appear to be at the northern end of the front, and it has passed us with little more that some rain to show for it.

South of us is another story, including some watch boxes in SW NY and northern PA.

It was really nice today - just over 60, so I concentrated on getting some stain on parts of the house that were ready for it.  As a result I didn't do any work on the roof, and I really do need to get that last couple of sections up there to stop the leaks.  Tomorrow isn't looking bad, so maybe I'll be able to wrap up the current portion of the project.

....That was a really long string of weather front that passed thru here several hours ago....Looking on the active radar on here it stretched for 6 or 700 miles or more....

Perhaps the same system touching up in your area Larry.  See my edited note below in an earlier post.

Well, Walt and I are back home.  Guess everything went well this morning.  Won't really know anything for 24 to 48 hours, whenever the Dr. gets the reports from the hospital, and calls me.  The hardest thing was keeping my head still, when they did the cat scan.   On the Field Vision test, I almost fell asleep during that.  We were back home somewhere between 10:40 and 10:50.  We both went back to bed, to try to catch up on our missed sleep.  Seems like every 45 minutes to an hour, overnight, I was waking up.  So no wonder, I kept trying to fall asleep during the vision test.

The menu for the rest of the afternoon and tonight:

Hamburgers, cheeseburgers w/fries (regular and curly) and garden salad.

Or, you can have leftover warmed up roast, taters & carrots, etc.

I may try to go back to bed, and get a little bit more sleep, probably just cat nap.  A good day for it, with all the clouds and off/on rain.  Current temp is 60 degrees.

Everyone have a good evening, stay as dry as possible, if you're getting the rain, like  we are, and take care.

A gas station on the main drag in Watertown has been undergoing reconstruction of late.  They must have just installed the new roadside sign as it was on tonight when I went by.

I tried to take a picture, but it didn't come out.

I'm sure a lot of folks figured it was a sign of things to come.  The prices listed on the sign:  Unleaded 8.88.9, Diesel 9.99.9...

Chilly.  No snow. Not much wind either.  We are looking pretty good re: precipitation.  30% - hardly worth mentioning.  I am glad.

Warmer this weekend.  That makes me even "gladder".

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  56 degrees and rain, rain, rain.  Just steady rain at this time, but they say it could be really heavy at times during the day today.  Checked the rain gauge last evening, and it had 2.25 in it around 6 p.m.

Mookie, our temp is to be slowly dropping during the day today, and we're to be colder tomorrow thru???  So long as we don't get any snow or any of that other nasty stuff.  Definitely not ready to that yet.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, cold chocolate milk, hot and cold cider, etc. are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels and bear claws.

Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only a week and one day away.  My goodness, how 2011 has flown by.  And I haven't even begun to look for Christmas cards yet.  I usually start addressing them over Thanksgiving weekend.  Any of you I have addresses for, may be late getting your card from us.

Any hoo, you all have a good morning, keep dry, if you're getting this rain, take care, and I'll see you all later.

Not much to report, but more later

a Mercedes SL convertible goes flying by in the snow flurries......Top down, radio blaring, oblivious to the weather...Huh?

CW, the roast beef sandwich and apple pie to follow sounds great.

24° now. There is a bit of snow on the ground.

No new RR news that I can see.

MC's story reminded me of something I saw almost 20 years ago. I was walking about a block from my place, at the next intersection over, where there is a traffic light. I was waiting to cross and a VW Golf Cabriolet with the top down pulls up. It was in early spring and it was only 35-40°, but sunny. This car had a spectacularly loud and clear stereo system. And as loud as you ever heard a car stereo system there was The Carpenters singing, "There's a kind of hush, all over the world tonight"  !!! Bizarre doesn't begin to cover it. I was left there standing almost through the next cycle of lights listening to the sound fading in the distance. That was really a strange scene.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  39 cloudy degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Supposed to make it up to the upper 40s for a high today.  May see some flurries, but its doubtful, due to the dry air.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot water for hot tea are all fresh and ready to go.  Bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, hash brown taters, biscuits & gravy are on the warmer/serving station.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, your morning, take care and see you all later.

Bruce, isn't it amazing how many people believe that the whole world shares their likes and dislikes? I have been tempted at times when someone is stopped beside me with his sound system blaring (and ruining his hearing) something that is unlike what I like to roll my window down, get his attention, and thank him for sharing--but let him know I have my own system so I do not need him to share what he has.

We're going to need to bundle up tonight, if we go outside:  supposed to be down in the low 40s early evening to low 30s or upper 20s by morning.  Funny, but I don't recall putting in a request for winter to come just a little over a month early.  Grumpy

...."An electric-magnetic pulse gun"....Now that sounds good....Reminds me of the advertisement on TV that shows an Asian youngster flailing around in his room banging away at his electric guitar blasting loud sounds, and his dad walks down the hall, and pulls the plug.....All of a sudden, Silence...!  Would be nice to see the results on the loud music player's face in the auto with same result.

Sun is still shining, but.....a brisk wind and it's just 37 degrees.  Did not get to any low 40's figure today.  Chill factor is down right cool.

Have a Thanksgiving dinner tonight at the church....Always excellent turkey & noodles...!  And all the peripheries with them.  At least no snow...!

Ah memories.  My girlfriend and I used to cruise the main drag - many years ago when they had beat cops and traffic cops on duty at major intersections.  We knew one of them and when it would be around zero, we would turn the car heater on high and just as we were within eyeshot of him, would roll down the windows and take off our coats.  Then drive by and smile and wave.  His nose and face were bright red - wonder if it was from cold or frustration!

Went out to spend a wad of $$$ for a couple of sacks.  Had a short list today - mostly birdseed, peanuts and milk.  Got home and watched a sharp-shinned hawk in our tree line.  Having watched birds before, it looked like there may have been a mouse for lunch.  We watched while the face washing/preening and moving it out of the crop took place.  Interesting birds.

Saw a few trains.  Ethenol train heading south.  Grain heading west.  No coal....which is way unusual.

17 above this morning, so frost on the "punkin" and on the bird water.  56 Thanksgiving Day.  Can't complain.  Anyway, no one would listen.

Our weather situation of yesterday has cleared. Many trees down and one high school had student's cars nearly destroyed and roof blown off but all students in halls and no one injured. NW Ga had one tree fall on SUV and kill driver.

The CSX must have had trees on ROW because from the stom time until 0700 today no traffic on A&WP sub. Then a parade both ways of manifest trains. BNSF Intermodals finally started running about 1200 so Linevill sub probably had more trees down in Alabama. Traffic until 1900 has been 4 - 6 trains an hour since 1200.

I love hearing one of those systems installed in a vehicle that is obviously worth less than the sound system.

Usually the bass makes the body panels rattle...

Just got the computer back from the shop, complete with a new video board.  Between the cooling fan for the video board being pretty much plugged with dust and an episode of kicking the power cord (which was loose),twice, the video board didn't survive.

Headed for the railroad tomorrow and Saturday to get a trainset ready for our Black Friday train and work the first edition of the Polar Express.

ALL ABOARD!

Good Friday morning everyone.  Larry, know you're going to be busy, busy, busy for the next month!  Wish we had a Polar Express Train around here! 28 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with clear, cold sky.  But should be in the mid to upper 40s by noon, topping out at about 54 degrees around 4 p.m.  Maybe a little breezy.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for hot tea are all ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  homemade doughnuts, some with chocolate frosting on them, blueberry muffins, chocolate chip muffins, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy and hash brown taters.

Heard on the news this morning, that now a student has accused a Syracuse coach of molestation.  When is it going to end?!?!?!  Maybe they should put video cameras in every locker room, showers of every school, whether its on the elementary, middle, high school or college level, just to make sure this bull malarky stops.  Either that, or castrate all the coaches.

Anyway, everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Good morning and peace be with you. It was 32 at sunrise in Carolina, currently 34 and clear. Thanks for breakfast.

Paula, it is a sign of these end times that our society, and indeed the world society is falling apart. Hardly a day goes by without the news reporting some teacher or coach got busted for cavorting around with one or more of their students. There were 2 in one day last week. When I was in HS, the teachers hardly spoke with their students after hours, let alone fooled around.

Also, there has been a plague of teenagers assaulting children. Yesterday, there was another one reported with the victim 18 months old. It has gotta stop before society implodes.

EDIT: Just heard on the news that a school janitor has been charged with getting in on the action with a student. Hammercy, this is a regular Peyton Place!!

End soapbox

Everyone have a safe day and stay warm

Tom

Wow....business is light in here today.

Nice sunny day here, with high temp reaching just to 45, and a bit of wind with it.  But dry, and that we like.

Wow!  Quentin, you are definitely right:  traffic has been very light in here today.  Hope it picks up, as I have gotten back from the grocery (doing more stocking up for the holiday next week, plus a few other odds and ends in the way of food items), and now have our Friday Night Fish Fry ready and on the warmer/serving station.  It felt really nice outside this afternoon.  Very glad I decided to wait until today to go to the grocery:  I had intended to go yesterday, but I just didn't feel like battling the wind.

Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you whenever.
