Here is our new station for the next three months!  Sorry I kind of forgot to do this first thing this morning.  Was still kind of half asleep, I guess.  Everything is moved  over, and we're open for business.

Saturday morning brunch is now in service:

Bacon, sausage, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, grits, toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, tater tots, pancakes/waffles w/syrup (Maple and blueberry), oatmeal, bagels, bear claws, etc.

Everyone enjoy your day, take care, and see you all back in here this evening for our pizza fest.

....A cool, dry start.  45 degrees right now.  But, sunshine promised for next 4 or 5 days....and a warmup.

So...not bad, off to a good start.  Still lots of green here.

Walt....Thinking of that exectutive train or special of some sort....I was just thinking they probably wanted the latest in the passenger engines available back when, and thought about the "E's"....That would have been quite a few prime movers if it had been those....8 diesels.

At least it looks like a nice "set" of power whatever they are....Glad to see them preserved and runable.

Whistling  I been watching on the railroad.....

We have been out all day, watching trains eating breakfast and lunch and just enjoying a super nice day.  BNSF ran trains after breakfast and after we got settled in and then after lunch when we got back.  In between we went south of town about 25 miles and checked out all the incoming waiters.

Running lots of Dash 9s.  Head end and DPU.  They had a bunch in storage and I wasn't sure if we would ever see them run again, but they are all back and busy, busy.

I am tired - too much fresh air, but will sleep good - either thru dull tv tonite or overnite if I make it to the bed.

Brrr, just slightly cold up here, in the mid-30s this morning, forecast is for about 62 today.  Good day to climb into the attic and get the ceiling fan bracing installed, and get our bath fan ducted outside.

Mookie: Sorry we plastered your Cornhuskers, looks like the Badgers are on a roll.....

Well, time to get breakfast going......

Randy - Your Badgers were good.  They just flat out played us.  But the Wisconsin people were nice enough to open their homes to our fans and provide places to stay.  I loved Wisconsin the one time I visited there.  You would sleep under 3 blankets and then be barefoot in the grass during the day (September).

Well, since I've already been thanked for supper, guess I'd better post the menu, huh:

1.  Beef noodle casserole w/salad, mashed taters, peas & carrots or broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, corn and snap peas medley.

2.  Leftover pizzas from last night's pizza fest.

3.  Sloppy Joe sandwiches w/your choice of fries or potato chips, dill or sweet pickle slices.

Desserts:

1.  Chocolate cake

2.  Cheesecake:  chocolate, strawberry or cherry

3.  Apple or peach cobbler

Everyone take care, have a good afternoon, and see you all later, on down the tracks.

Cold and wet in the Adirondacks this weekend.  Murder on the fall colors, which really kind of peaked last weekend - but the leaf peepers were out in force!

Finished up my hours as a student engineer today (Sunday).  Now "dad" will let me take the train out all by myself!

....39 degrees at our location this morning, but it still put down some frost on our front and back yard.  But sunshine all day and by this afternoon it was seasonally nice.

Now sunshine most all this coming week, and warm temps.

Strange.....We have at least one Humming bird still visiting the feeder.....He shoud be headed way south by now.  Saw him right away this morning when it was 39 degrees.  And again in the afternoon and early evening.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Clear, fair skies with a temp in the low 50s this morning, going for a high of in the low to mid 70s for today, with plenty of sunshine.

Congratulations Engineer Tree!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hope you all had a very good weekend.  Ours was on the quiet side.  Walt and I watched a couple of things on our local PBS station yesterday.  The first was a documentary on the Chesapeake Bay.  Beautiful shots, especially when you could see the sun shining on the water!  The second was the new Ken Burns' documentary on prohibition.  Both were very informative and interesting to watch.

Coffee, juices and other fall morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And on the warmer/serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, toast, eggs, biscuits & gravy, kiwi and papaya and grapes.

If anyone has any meal requests for today, please let me know, and I'll do my best to fix it.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later.

Nah - but the 16+ miles I can run on is pretty interesting - not just a simple jaunt over level land...

Peace be with you. It was 40 degrees an hour or so, so I guess fall is defintely here. Our thunderchickens managed to get away with their tail feathers but just barely. I would hate to be on Spurrier's practice field this week! Fell back to #18. Oy!

Larry, you have lived out my fantasy. Very  sincere congrats from Carolina.

Everyone take care and have a great day

Well, just got home a little bit ago, from picking up my new glasses!  I-can-now-see!!  Our current temp is somewhere in the 60s:  feels very nice outside; didn't even wear a jacket or anything to go pick up my glasses.  Supposed to get up to about 73 degrees.

For the rest of the day, here is our menu:

1.  Leftovers from our Sunday Dinner

2.  Grilled chicken w/boiled potatoes, your choice of peas & carrots or  broccoli w/cheese sauce

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful afternoon.  Take care, and I'll see you all later on.

Joe - I wasn't able to go out today to train watch, so they are probably waiting until they know I will be there on Thursday.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem - every time I am trackside @ lunchtime and it is totally dead silent, I get my lunch all laid out, take the first bite and 3 trains will want to start moving.

They somehow know there is a sandwich loose....

Back home from being out and about today.  Our high got up in the upper 70s today; last time I saw the current temp, about a half hour ago, it was 78 degrees.  Not much breeze, and it sure feels good outside. Didn't have Dare to Care this morning, so no Produce and Bread/Pastry trucks.

Here is our German menu for this evening:

Meats:

1.  Baked glazed ham

2.  Braised beef steak

3.  Pork barbecue sandwiches

Vegetables:

1.  Mashed potatoes w/bacon

2.  Corn & lima bean succotash

Salads:

1.  German potato salad

2.  Hot cabbage slaw

3.  4-bean salad

Desserts:

1.  Lemon sponge pie

2.  Lattice-top Apple pie

3.  Shoofly cake

Hope you all enjoy your dinner/supper, have a very good evening and take care.  See you all in the morning.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Temps in the mid 50s this morning, going for a high of 82 degrees today here in Louisville.   Hope you all had an enjoyable evening, and will have a good, enjoyable day today.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, and breakfast is on the serving station.  Anything else for today, you all are on your own:  anything else, you'll have to take care of, fix, or whatever, as I'm going to take the day off.

Everyone take care, and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Cool, and a bit breezy today, but nary a cloud in the sky.  Weatherguessers promise improvement through the weekend, although a solid frost is a real possibility.
