For what it’s worth...Here is what I use for computer protection on my machines:
Zone Alarm Free Firewall:
http://www.zonealarm.com
Microsoft Security Essentials:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx
Also, run the following on your machine:
http://www.ccleaner.com
and
http://www.malwarebytes.org
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
The last three links are free and will not conflict with each other........
I use Zone Alarm Free for my software firewall...and Microsoft Security Essentials for spyware/malware. (NOTE: Please make sure you are not running more than one anti-virus program at the same time...they can conflict with each other).
All of these are free and provide good protection. The free software is just as good as some of the programs you have to pay for.
One final note: When uninstalling programs from your computer remnants of the old program is usually left behind. In order to avoid this, you should use the FREE version of the following uninstall program:

Hope this is helpful!

Dale, you mean that Cow I sent you, wasn't to you?!
Hope you get that resolved very shortly!!
CW was/is correct about today's temp. and being outside, hope it stays that way for tomorrow....need to be watching the NS tracks here close to the house for an ex............business car going to the French Lick Railroad, supposed to take the looooonng way around from the Chicago area, and come through the Lou. area tomorrow.(coming through Cincy., and making a right turn at Danville, Ky. onto the Lou. division.)
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
....I was over checking on the Roanoke cam, and wow...a passenger train stationary in view...Then at 8:44 it moved out. It appears to be the same consist that was in the area last weekend {I believe that's when it was}, and the dome cars were lit....and light in the reg. passenger car windows.
Once again {as the last time}, had Amtrak engines for power. Lots of passenger cars....a couple of full length domes and several regular type domes.
What a nice site. Check the Roanoke posts for more comments.
Here...we had a nice seasonal day. Sunshine and blue sky.
Cool and frost this morning, but wasn't too bad this afternoon. In fact, I did another mowing and some leaves had blown over on me, so with the mulching mower, we dressed them down. Looks good again. If I can keep at it, I'll not have to bag any this season. Trees of {neighbors}, especially the east side are pretty well down...{maple}, but western neighbor has very big trees, but several years ago that property had a 6' high solid wood fence installed, and they had several big trees removed, and all that makes my job of keeping my place nice somewhat easier. All my trees are evergreens.
That's my back yard behind me in my Avatar.
Must say hello to Dale...It's been a while.
PS: C W....Have already started to do the clock deal. 4 are automatic, and have the ones in the vehicles yet to do...and several others. Even my watch will take care of itself.

Dale, that was my brother's account that got hacked and sent out the bogus messages. He's now reregistered under a different name (Sparetime Trainstation).

Goooooood Mooooorrrrrnnnning everyone. Yes, I'm very much awake this morning: woke up on my own, with no assistance from the alarm, Walt or Trapper.
I don't know how many on here are Joe Frazier fans, but I saw an article on the computer homepage, where he is fighting liver cancer. Discovered it about 3, 4 weeks or so ago. The article said he is under Hospice Care.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. Hot water is also ready for our hot tea drinkers, and there's plenty of apple cider, whether you want it cold or hot. On the warmer/serving station this morning: bacon, eggs, toast, and a small selection of pecan rolls, cinnamon rolls and doughnuts.
Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work, or railfanning, and see you all later.

Went to lunch with family - beautiful day! Very windy yesterday and last nite - so passed it on to CW!
Watched some trains and now home for rest of day.
Grandson grew another foot, which looks a little odd, but @ 12, they don't seem to notice. He is now just a shade shorter than his Grandma. But he is still Grma's boy - just as long as the laptop isn't too far away.

So that's why I had to pull my bike helmet strap a bit tighter today, hopefully tomorrow won't be as windy as I'm going to have to go back and camp out to see that passenger/business car move tomorrow, seems it didn't make it out of Chicago today.
Just don't send any earthquakes this way.(yes, I know it was in Ok; but it's close to Ne.)
We had our first sticking snow Friday night-Saturday morning, but the streets were pretty well cleared by yesterday afternoon, and we had clear running on our way to church this morning. Yesterday morning at 7:30 was different, but I had no troubles going to a meeting in Salt Lake City.
Our backyard trees have lost hardly any leaves, and one branch on a pussywillow was broken. The maple branches were bowed down (almost to our incoming powerline), but I have not yet seen any damage (wait until I go into the yard and look at the north side of the tree.
The greatest problem with the snow was that as I was watching a football game in the morning the dish filled with snow (where it came from, I do not know, for there was none falling from the sky) and the signal was lost until the sun melted the snow--I could not put a ladder up to the roof because snow-covered branches blocked the way.
Tom, I was sorry to see the Gamecocks go home without a load of hams, shoulders, pork chops, loins, fatback, and rib meat (would any have wanted feet, jowls, or headcheese?).

MookieGrandson grew another foot, which looks a little odd,...
Grandson (2 1/2) visited train show (and Papa) yesterday, and joined his mom and dad when I took them out to dinner tonight.
Due to the value of the merchandise, and the fact that most of the layouts were too tall for him to see otherwise, Papa carried him around the show. He's an armful. Not so bad on the lap (although I find I don't speak fluent 2 1/2 year old...).
His mom says he's already three feet tall. Another basketball player in the family.

Good Monday morning everyone. Larry, sounds like you had a good time w/grandson. Larry, just do what I have a tendency to do with little ones that age, when I'm having trouble understanding what they're saying: "Is that right? Tell me all about it."
Nice outside this morning, with a temp of 49 degrees. Supposed to make it somewhere in the mid to upper 60s for our high today. And tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid 70s, with rain coming in tomorrow night/Wednesday morning.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. On the warmer/serving station this morning: bacon, eggs, toast, oatmeal, bagels, bear claws.
Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later.
Peace be with you. 47 and clear in Carolina at present . Yeah Johnny, the weather was against our thunderchickens Saturday. They have had a ruff time this year, what with injuries and personnel issues.
My computer died big time last week and ergo, I have a new old Dell that I am getting used to. It has Windows 7and 3 gig of RAM. It also has a defective keyboard that has to be swapped out. I still don't have email yet, Things will work out if I don't put a bullet in it first
That said, everyone have a great day and stay safe

Our local ABC affiliate put together pictures of trucks that tried to go under the RRs and didn't make it.

Bob, thanks for the link: those are some mighty good pictures. Thankfully, we haven't had any trucks getting stuck under the railroad bridges around here lately: now watch: since I've said that, watch one get stuck sometime later today, or in the very near future!!
For the menu for the rest of the afternoon, and this evening, I'm warming up the leftovers from our Sunday Dinner. Everything will be on the warmer/serving station in ten minutes.
According to our thermometer (and my homepage on the computer) our current temp is 67 degrees. Very nice and warm outside, with just a touch of a breeze. Everyone enjoy your meal, have a terrific afternoon, and see you all later.
Oklahoma under the gun with some severe weather - a chaser is following a twister SW of OKC as I write this.

Tom, Hope you don't have to shoot your computer, but if you do and need any ammo, I think we might have several extra .40cal and .45cal cartridges around here.(pistol)
Not sure if all states have Election Day tomorrow; here in Ky. we're getting to vote for a new Governor, amongst several other state offices. If you don't vote, don't gripe!
Election day here too tomorrow:
We get to vote for our town government. Clerk-Treasurer, and Council members.
cherokee woman I don't know how many on here are Joe Frazier fans, but I saw an article on the computer homepage, where he is fighting liver cancer. Discovered it about 3, 4 weeks or so ago. The article said he is under Hospice Care.
CW, I am glad you mentioned this, I too was a fan of Smokin' Joe. The news report I read about it had a sentence that said, Joe Frazier was the first man to ever defeat Muhammad Ali. That is still an amazing thing to read, even forty years later. I was very sad to hear about his illness.
34° now, but there is a west 16 mph wind, which is giving us a windchill temp of 23° We are looking for our next snowfall toward the weekend.
There has already been enough snow in the mountains that the Lake Louise ski hill opened last weekend. I fear this is going to be an interesting winter for railroading in the mountains. There was nowhere close to a total melt of last year's snowpack. When you have even an average year of new snowfall, on top of that base of old snow, you create a very unstable situation. My Dad had said various times that some of the worst avalanches have occurred under those conditions.
The problem comes about because although the railway has over a century of avalanche data, these unusual conditions create slides in places that don't normally have them. And if you don't know where they will occur, you can't build defenses against them. They are both unexpected and often severe. There is just no way to know what will happen.
As of earlier today I hadn't seen any new local railway news.
And even though there are no elections in Alberta at the moment I always support what Locomutt said, if you don't vote don't gripe.

Good Tuesday morning everyone. 53 degrees here in Louisville this morning. Supposed to make it up to about 74 degrees today. At least around our area, no one should have any weather-related problems to prevent them from casting their vote today.
I want to wish a Very Happy 61st Birthday to my darling husband of 24 1/2 years: Walt, hope you have a great day today; may you have many, many happy returns today.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. And breakfast is ready and on the warmer/serving station.
On a sad note, I did notice on the the computer's homepage, that Smokin' Joe has lost his battle with liver cancer. R.I.P. Mr. Frazier.
Morning all! HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALT!
Looks to be another dreary day here in western Indiana. Hope things cool down and clear up soon. I'M READY FOR SOME SNOW!
Have a safe day all!

Happy Birthday, Walt
Best wishes to you Walt on the 61st....Keep on "adding them up".
You will be having a nice mild day to enjoy it. Up here in Indiana too.
Happy Birthday, Mutt!
Oklahoma is sending us some really interesting weather for your day. Yesterday, we had "rain by 6 pm" at 1 pm. Rained really steady thru about 2 am. Landlord got all our leaves up and in garbage before rain. Now we have all of their family members back on our guest parking space, lawn and sidewalk.
AND.... 1-3 inches of snow tonite after 7 pm. This means we will either get it this afternoon, not at all or 6-12 by tomorrow. You just have to know how to interpret the weather-speak around here. My bet is we will get little or nothing by tomorrow, but east of us is going to have quite a mess. All water, people.
Off to
Misting a bit here, unfortunately, because I have lots to do outside. Just discovered a missing shingle that's letting light into the attic - never a good thing. I'll be putting a steel roof on that part of the house, but not today. It'll get fixed shortely.
Rain the next couple of days.
Voted today, but with the exception of one race, it was all academic - everyone else was running unopposed. The only "race" was for district judge, and that was pick four out of seven...
Back to work.
Took care of produce and the bread/pastry trucks this morning, came home, tried to take a little nap, but it didn't work. So got up, and Walt, Sarah and I went to cast our votes. We voted for govenor/lt. gov., sec. of state, agrilculture commisioner, and I forgot what the other one was.
Well, while I was over at Produce this morning, my doctor's office called. Called them back, when I got home. I will NOT be in, probably at all, next Tuesday. Have to be at the office at 7:30 next Tuesday morning, and will probably be there most of the day, for the CT scan and a Field Vision Test.
I have our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta ready, and it is on the warmer/serving station: Burritos, tacos, Spanish rice, enchaladas, quesadillas, fajitas, chimichangas, etc.
Believe our temp is currently about 73 degrees; but we have a good breeze blowing. At least, so far, it is a semi warm breeze. Rain is supposed to be in sometime later tonight, and through most of the day tomorrow. Our high tomorrow, whatever it is projected, will be in the morning, with the temps dropping throughout the day.
Everyone have a good evening, and take care.
