Gotta ban bridges.....

A GPS figured into the overheight bus hitting a low railroad bridge just north of Syracuse a while back, and now another GPS figures into a truck hitting another low RR bridge just east of Syracuse....

^()()^ wow - extended heat/humidity wave.
This small abode is getting smaller every day. Last out of here on past Thurs and won't go out until at least Wed.
No snow, tho.....

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Zug - I dealt with the opposite problem Sunday. Scheduled trainman was iffy to start with, and didn't show on Sunday, so I worked, instead of kicking back in my own (very dry) back yard.
Of course, I wouldn't have been there to ask if I hadn't made another unscheduled trip on Saturday (see the "Rare Mileage" thread).
All for 8 bucks worth of food vouchers...
After a week or so of very dry weather, I woke this AM to thunder, and the radar shows we'll get another hour or two of decent rain, anyhow. I'm not going to complain, even if the vacationers might get their activities dampened.
Time for breakfast, then I take the truck to the shop for a (hopefully) final fix on an ongoing problem.
Good morning. 65 degrees in Carolina on a Monday morning. The boffins guess it will top out in the high 80s, but will be 100+ in a few days.
We had a good weekend here, no ruckus or upsurges. I hope yall all can say that as well.
Everyone take care and peace be with you!

Good Monday morning everyone. Bruce, just because the Stampede is over, doesn't mean you have to put your cowboy hat away: just wear it anyway!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Our weekend was quiet, and that is a good thing. Going to be hot, hot hot this week. Temps won't be too bad, in the low to mid 90s most of the week; but the heat index will be 100+ with the off chance of popup showers/storms every afternoon, early evening.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, and breakfast is on the warmer/serving station.
Everyone have a good morning, keep safe, take care and see you all later.
Well, we had an excellent day here for the final day of the Calgary Stampede. A high in the mid-seventies and it is still 72° now.
The Chuckwagon Races were won by a driver who has won it 12 times now, which is a record. He started racing when he was 17 in 1969 and I have been watching races since I was 17 in 1971, because he was there. I really enjoyed it.
Fortunately, no news is good news on the RR front around here.
Now I will have to put my Cowboy Hat away until next July.

zugmannIt's amazing. When I first bumped down here, they never had trouble finding people to work. But they want to have bare bones staffing, they cut jobs, and they treat the people that stay like crap. And surprise! Now they can't find anyone to come in on their day off.
Yep....Funny how that works.....

Oh well. 90s all week here. Going to feel like TX weather.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
zugmann They didn't have any available hoggers for my job today, so we got annulled. Have to love an unexpected day off.

Geez...My job never gets annulled....
Unless of course there are no govt civilians to watch us contractors work....
Good morning from Alamo City. Continued hot and dry here. Currently 79, with an expected high today of 103.
Here's more on the drought in Texas:

Stay cool and enjoy your Sunday!
....Hot....Dry....Humid....Guess that will fit todays forecast again. 73 when I first looked this morning. Headed for low 90's.
Church, and then later probably Olive Garden.
Scattered thunder showers possible early this coming week....Some could be severe...No wonder, with this heat index. I assume it will be spotty. Rain badly needed, but there is a threat of severe storms with it wherever it might occur.

Good Sunday morning everyone. Joe, thanks for coming in and taking care of breakfast, since I decided to sleep in this morning! Woke up at 6:30 (well, Trapper jumped on my pillow, waking me up). Moving a little slowly this morning. Guess with the humidity climbing back up, my bones and joints are feeling it.
Joe, sorry to see our Reds lost last night. Was sorta hoping they'd sweep those dang Cardinals. Maybe they'll win this afternoon, right? We Reds fans will just have to hope.
As you said, Joe, going to be dealing with the 3 H's for awhile. Everyone remember to keep hydrated, have a good day and take care. See you all later.
good Sunday Morning
already sticky.Weather guessers say triple h's for the next 2 weeks.Breakfast is ready.Juice and coffee are ready to go to.Tonight is back to work..
Howdy, on the second last night of the 2011 Calgary Stampede. 73° right now.
Being Saturday night you know where to find me, chowing down on one of CW's Pepperoni/Mushroom pizza's.
Then it is off to listen to the radio (kicking it, old school; as they say) to listen to the semi-final night of the famous Chuckwagon Races at 8:00.. The station, MIX 1060 AM has been broadcasting the races almost continually since the late 1920's, when it was CFCN. CFVP 6030 khz Shortwave. I have been following the races almost continually since 1971. CBC-TV will broadcast it on a tape delay starting an hour later.
Everyone enjoy their Sunday.
YEEE-HAW!
.....Having worked in Az. desert country many years ago, I remember low humidity is required for the swamp cooler to function.
But....with low humidity, the air felt just like coming out of an A/C.
We leased a building to run our truck test work out of, and it was cooled by swamp cooler. No problem with the humidity there.
I'll take a slice of the Canadian Bacon and a slice of the Hawaiian--find something else for Ricki, since she doesn't care for pizza.
It's been warm--in the nineties-- and a little humid, but we have survived since the humidity has not overpowered the swamp cooler.
Johnny
Gee, with only 2 other people having been in today, wonder if anyone will even be in here tonight for Saturday Night Pizza Fest. But, here is the menu anyway. One large of each of the following:
1. Anchovie
2. Canadian bacon
3. Cheese
4. Chicago style
5. Goetta
6. Ham & green pepper
7. Hawaiian
8. Italian sausage
9. Pepperoni/mushroon
10. Supreme
Our temp ended up only being about 86 degrees: had a lot of cloud cover for most of the day. Only a couple of time today, has the sun been shining. But you can definitely feel the humidity creeping up.
Everyone have a nice evening, and take care.
....Yes the weather pattern {Tom}, seems to be locked in for the past week and maybe the new week upcoming. We have temps forecast to be in the 90's each day this coming week.
Seems a massive High system is stagnant over the lower mid section of the country, blocking east / west movement of weather systems, and with the clockwise rotation bringing up humid / heat from the deep south.
We are really getting dry here. Stopped mowing, and letting the grass longer rather than shorter to help it survive thru this heat. it's certainly not growing much without more rain currently.
Did use the edger last evening to take care of ragged edges of grass out over driveway and all around the house {have gravel}, and like to keep that edge {where it meets the lawn}, neat.
Setting on our patio last evening watched some Humming birds come and take Nectar {sp?}, from a collection of flowers around that area, but none came to the feeder.
Several Yellow birds active now too.
Our low this morning was 73 and will get close to 90 today....So....much time will be spent in here where it's comfortable.
Lunch....Somewhere, but not sure where yet.
good morning
cw thanks for breakfast.going to be a triple h day today.mamma is at the store right now.going to work on some chores.
Good Saturday morning everyone. Tom, good to see you've been in this morning.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including nice hot water for our hot tea drinkers. On the warmer/serving station this morning: bacon, sausage, eggs, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits, milk gravy, fried taters, country fried ham w/red-eye gravy, cantaloupe, watermelon, papaya, kiwi, pineapple slices. Good selection so you can pick out what you want for breakfast.
Temperature is definitely, along with the humidity. Temp's in the mid to upper 70s, going for a high of 90 this afternoon.
Everyone have a very good day, take care, and I'll see you back in here this evening for our pizza fest.
Mawnin everyone, and peace be with you. 69 and clear in Carolina this morning. The girls got me up for some reason, known only to them, so here I is.
The weather was nice yesterday, with a hgh of 86, and this is supposed to continue for a few days. I have heard about the stagnant air over the midwest, so yall take care for the next few.
Everyone take care and stay cool, not to mention, safe

Currently 97 and sunny here in Alamo City.
....Well we certainly have a nice day going here.....Still lower humidity and mod. temps. But oh so dry.
But.........Tomorrow, the heat is scheduled to reappear...and stay for 5 days or so.
^ still.
Bruce - Lincoln has never had a tornado, but we have had some straight line winds that do make you wonder.
I'm going to put a cool cloth on mah brow....(ugh, wet fur)
Good Friday morning everyone. 70 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with a nice, cool breeze. Temps today will be about like yesterday, upper 80's, low 90's with the humidity creeping back up later this afternoon.
