....We join with others this morning, by starting out "warm"....
Our instrument indicated 78 degrees at 7 this morning...! For us, that is the warmest start this season. So....that should translate to well into the 90's this afternoon. Humid too. Had 94 yesterday afternoon.
Sunshine now, and not much sign of rain here for a while....At least rain of any amount. We're getting dry. With days of heat, things start to dry out pretty fast. Did see corn in a nearby field of at least 8 ft. in height yesterday. Now if we get enought rain to fill the ears properly.
Corn and soybean crops are massive in this area.
Seems I've been using the A/C in my truck locally more this season so far then I generally do.
Perhaps it is now the season for the railroad to be alert for "rail kinks".

Peace be with you and good morning. Paula, thanks for the wedding pix. They are a lovely couple, but I first thought that in the second pic she was holding a slinky.......
76 and fog in Carolina at present, expected to get close to 100 and thunder later. It was a quiet night tho for a change.

Good Monday morning everyone. It will definitely be a 3H day around our area: temps this morning are already pushing 80 degrees, and quite muggy out. High is to be around the mid 90s, but the heat index will make it feel like 100 to 110 out.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And breakfast is on the warmer/serving station.
Everyone have a good morning, keep hydrated and take care. See you all later on.
Here are a couple of the pictures from niece's wedding yesterday. The first picture is of her brother walking her down the aisle:
The next picture is of the newlyweds at the reception:
Our Sunday Dinner first round is ready and on the warmer/serving station. Along with the roast, taters, carrots and green beans, there is also broccoli w/butter sauce fresh corn on the cob and your choice of biscuits or dinner rolls, cole slaw or tossed salad. For Dessert, Yellow cake w/chocolate icing, chocolate cake w/white icing and ice cream.
Hope everyone is having a good afternoon, and that you're all staying as cool as possible.
....Another hot, humid, sunny day for us here in our midwestern area.
Still dry. Need some rain.
Church next...
Then.....Sunday meal with friends at Ruby Tuesday.
Good Sunday morning, everyone. Hazy with a temp of about 74 degrees here in Louisville this morning. Supposed to get into the 90s, but with the heat index, will feel like it is about 104 degrees or so outside.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the warmer/serving station this morning: made some biscuits, and you can put bacon or sausage and egg on your biscuits.
In a little bit, I'll be in the kitchen, fixing roast, taters & carrots and green beans for our Sunday Dinner.
Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work or railfanning this morning. See you all later.

Japan ladies won the soccer game over Germany.
Mook, despite Canada's British heritage soccer never really caught on here any more than it did in the US. Back when I was in school it was played during Phys. Ed. and that was it. But now they have leagues for kids just like there used to be for Little League Baseball. All four of my nephews participated up until they were 12 or 13. Never married or had kids myself.
Because of the growing number of people who have been exposed to it, I am curious to see how these attempts to have professional soccer leagues work out in our two countries.

Whew! I am very glad to be home! The wedding was great, the bride beautiful! Maybe sometime tomorrow,I'll post a picture or two from the wedding. There was fantastic food at the reception: veggie trays with cucumbers, tomatoes, celery sticks, broccoli, cauliflower, cheese cubes, little ham sandwiches, and barbecue. Got to see some cousins and nieces that I haven't seen for for awhile.
Hope everyone has had a good day, and also hope you're all having a good evening. I'll see you all in the morning.
Joe - didn't go out today. Too hot and allergies making me sniff.
Bruce - Japan ladies won the soccer game over Germany. I actually watched the game. The German ladies - being much taller - can run the entire field, while the Japanese ladies have to run 2 fields to get to the same goal. Literally an in your face game.
Pizza - yes, yes, yes.... lots of napkins too!

Well, it Saturday Night Pizza fest again. I love it.
It is 70° now, but it hasn't been so nice yesterday and earlier today. There have been really cold winds. It went down into the low fifties last night, but with a 25 mph wind from the west it was cool/cold in here. I had to get out a blanket I thought I had put away for the summer, last weekend. As they say, if you don't like the weather in this town, wait a minute.
Nothing much to report this second day of Stampede.

....Another beautiful sunny morning here. Looks like temps will get to the high 80s by this afternoon.
Having breakfast with friends at our local Family Restaurant, which has a highway and CSX double track line facing the front where that activity can easily be seen.
This morning we had 4 trains in a time space of about an hour or a bit less...
One was the "Pacers" double stack consist....{all blue containers}, west bound. One east bound stopped very near the restaurant, and I'm just guessing it may have had to wait for priority to go across the diamond that carries N S trains on the Frankfort line. It crosses the CSX line about a half mile east of the restaurant.
So good train activity to watch while we had our breakfast.
Good Saturday morning, everyone. Beautiful morning, with a temp in the low to mid 70s, going for a high of 90 today. No more chances of rain until Tuesday, then about 30%.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. There's also hot water for Larry's and Tom's morning cup of hot tea.
Regular Saturday morning brunch is on the warmer/serving station.
And, just in case I'm not back from the wedding in time, the pizzas are made up, marked as to what they are, and in the freezer.
Everyone have a very good day, stay as cool as possible, and take care in whatever you'll be doing today.
....Still looking for some rain....Had one tenth overnight, but that is not near what we need.
Nice evening here....Moon out bright. Still 80 degrees at 10:15.
We get our hour and a half parade tomorrow (Saturday). Lots of floats, some bands (including a marching jazz band!), and the skirling of bagpipes (usually 4-5 bands) should make it interesting.
Since I'm doing EMS bike patrol, I like to ride the parade route backwards. Then I get to see the whole thing a couple of times!
One down side is that many of the bands stop in front of the reviewing stand and do a "show." Towards the end of the parade the remaining units spend more time standing than they do moving.
The royals were in the area, but it wasn't worth the hassle of crossing the border. I will agree that they are a handsome couple.

Peace be with you. We just had a storm pass through. Officially, we got a half inch of much needed rain, and the temp dropped from the mid 90s to 77, which is a welcome relief.
Paula, glad your tests went well and believing that you will get positive results.
Later
Afternoon all. Believe everything went well this morning (after they got the correct fax from my doctor's office, on the order for the mammogram). Won't actually know until sometime next week, when I get a letter from them.
Friday Fish is now on the warmer/serving station. The kinds of fish range from Bass to Tilapia, with all the regular list of side dishes and desserts.
We've had a little bit more rain, but I haven't heard any thunder or seen any lightning.
Everyone have a good afternoon, and take care.
Bruce - I wouldn't normally get up out of my easy chair to see a celebrity, but for the royal couple, I might at least look out the front door. "We" are suitably impressed by this young couple. Hope this doesn't change since there are so few bright spots in the world today.

Mookie Snarl still needs work.
Snarl still needs work.
Hope you get that back up to snuff soon!
Well, Their Royal Highness's The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just opened up the Calgary Stampede. They went along the parade route before the official Stampede Parade. However, for security reasons they drove by everyone so fast you would think they were running at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I very seriously considered right up to the last possible moment going down there myself.
I figured that if I got in one particular spot, I could get a photo of them with the CPR mainline in the background. I could have uploaded a railway related picture to the TRAINS website, and then this wouldn't be the only celebrity website on the web without a picture of The Duke and Duchess on it. After all, we are all such celebrities here, right?
And speaking of security, there are CF-18 jets and various types of helicopters flying around. Those jets come in so fast that it is quiet, then really loud, and then quiet again in a couple of seconds. It gets so loud so quickly, that to my ears it almost make a kind of snapping sound. The parade will be going on for another hour and a half, then it should calm down.
That is all I've got for now.
Joe: We are going to be trackside tomorrow and Sunday for sure. They seem to be doing some east/west traffic, so I will make note of what we see.
South traffic is strictly local. That used to be quite a bit of our coal and freight traffic. But now they have to visit our southern neighbors before they can head west.
Went to see a dental vet yesterday. She should know better than to stick her fingers in mah mouf! Guess I still have a good bite! Snarl still needs work.
it's friday!! Mookie have another coal train with mixed coal cars and a green leader this time going westbound on NS.we did get a sprinkle of rain last night.going to be a return of the triple h's for the weekend.Cw thanks for breakfast.Time for a nap.
Well, good Friday morning everyone. As you can see, I did manage to get going this morning, and am ready for my ride. So I decided to come on in here, and get breakfast for you guys and gals.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Hot water is boiling hot and ready for our hot coffee drinkers. On the warmer/serving station this morning: bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, and a selection of doughnuts, danish, chocolate chip muffins, bagels, bear claws.
I can't remember what our temp is this morning, but when I awoke, we were getting light rain showers. Later on this morning, we're to be getting some thundershowers, with a high today of 84, 85 degrees. Back in the 90s tomorrow.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all this afternoon.
Tom, I hope you find a way to write/type and do whatever else you need to do, that is not too painful for you.
It has been another busy afternoon for me around home. Getting errands done, and trying to find a way to not only go to me niece's wedding Saturday afternoon, but get to the reception and back to a bus stop to get back home again. So far, no luck.
For supper tonight, it is going to be an easy one again:
Sloppy Joes (and no, I don't mean our own Joekoh) with your choice of regular fries, curly fries or potato chips, and there is also sweet, and sour pickles you can have, if you like pickles, freshly made tossed salad, and for dessert, how about some strawberry shortcake w/RediWhip whipped cream.
I may not make it in in the morning: have a very early pickup to go for my yearly mammogram. But I'll make it back in hopefully, around 1:00, 1:30 to take care of the lunch menu.
Everyone have a good evening and take care.
Paula, the hand is not doing better. It is painful and time consuming to make a reply or write anything at all. I have to go back and make changes to about every third word, where my wayward fingers insert letters or digits or whatever. I just try and do it anyway, and will contnue to do it.
Peace be with you

Well as I mentioned a couple of days ago, this bunch has lots of windup but not much follow through.
It's been hotter than heck, by our standards the last few days. Already 70° at 10 AM and going up to 81° today. This has kind of messed up my sleep habits, and put me off my game as it were.
Nothing else to report on right now.
Larry sorry for your loss.

Good Thursday morning everyone. 74 degrees, muggy and sun is beginning to appear on the horizon.
Larry, sympathies extended on the loss of a fellow comrad/firefighter. Last night, we couldn't tell if it was fireworks being let off, or if it was thundering. But think it was fireworks. Sarah definitely had to water her flowers last night.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Got fresh hot water for our hot tea drinkers. There's also some freshly brewed iced tea (both sweet and unsweetened).
On the warmer/serving station this morning: bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels and bear claws, and a selection of fresh fruits.
Tom, glad to see that your hand is doing a little bit better, as you seem to be typing a little more in your posts.
Everyone have a very good morning, take care, keep cool and see you all later.
