Anybody that has had to deal with their I.S.P., or other related computer problems should relate to this cartoon from the Feb. 2011 Reader's Digest!!!!

Burst water line wasn't as much of a problem as was the plumber, questionable repair methods used.....no guarantee that it will hold, but if you want to pay 3X as much we might be able to do it!?

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

4:30 am in NL - camera #8, which has nite vision, just had an owl sitting on the branch.  I swear he darn near unscrewed his head looking around.  I was beginning to wonder if anything ever showed up in that camera at nite.  Now I know!

Pretty quiet around there at night.

I'm not sure what's directly under the camera, but it gets a little lively on the weekends...  Lots of talking and comings and goings.

Walt, no reputable plumber would leave you like that. It is either fixed, with a guarantee, or it's not. By vocation, I am a master plumber and would never have tried to extort extra payment from a customer. If it lets go again, call a licensed bonded plumber. It will be worth it!

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  29 degrees and snowing here in Louisville this a.m.  So far, looking out our front door, we have probably 1 1/2 to 2 inches on the ground/pavement.  Must have missed the snow plow, because now the street is not as snow covered as it was a few minutes ago.  Local schools are closed (school transportation spokesperson said that when they were making their rounds, checking out road conditions, some of their checkers slid off the road, and one either almost hit or did hit a tree.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, as well as breakfast on the serving station.

So far, anyway, back seems to be a little bit better this morning.  At least my back isn't bent forward, when I walk.

Everyone have a good morning, keep warm, take care and see you all in a bit.

Dan, you've got it.  I'll start making the chicken noodle soup, and I'll also start making some more chicken & dumplings.  BTW, if you'd like a little bit right now, there's a little bit left in the fridge.

Netherlands cam - #8 seems to have moved from last night, and I saw #6 being moved around this morning.

The chickadees seem to be abundant there.

Decent day, temperature-wise.  Need to make a trip to Syracuse today.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  nothing on the radar right now.

Wish I knew which camera has the much-delayed sound of the crossing bells.  I'll hear them go off and there's nothing on the featured crossing...

Haven't looked at the NL cameras for several days now....I certainly don't seem to have the success that you, Larry, & Jen do in trying to control the "other" 7 cameras.

Number 1 & 2 work fine.  Sound works fine from number 1....even from bike riders going past.

But as for filling those screens on "multi"....and controlling them, not much success.  Just one time I did so.

So be it....must get ready to head to the barber shop.

No new snow.

Mid 20's here this morning.  We're adding daylight in the morning now too....I've looked, but still can't see Spring out there ahead of us.

NL Cams:  #5,6 and 9 are all either on the same tower or right next to it.  #8 is on farmland that is very close to the tower.  #8 has at least 3 different feeders in that area and  also has a walking path that goes thru that area and follows the canal, too.  #7 shows the walking path just above the canal.  During the tractor pull on #5 (this last October(?) they had what looked like a group of school children going down the path right past the area of the pull.

Google earth or whatever and you can see the canal and the walking path.  Covers a lot of area.

If you can catch them panning the cameras, which, so far, all do except #3, you will get a better sense of how the layout is.  #1 will move around during the spring and fall because of the sun being in the west.  It gets too bright, so they will do a closeup of the street either in front or on the other side of the tracks or, in the case of just doing some adjusting during the night, we were looking in someone's back yard.

They have a variety of birds and if you go to Birds of the NL - Wikipedia - they will list them all and give you photos for all of them.  Their bluejay looks a lot more pink with only blue on wings.  The chickadee looking birds have a different name, but are easy to pick out on the photos.  Doves look the same.  And Mallards on #7 look like - Mallards.

Always shut off the mic on #2.  That is a delayed sound.  And prepare for the Jackdaws on #4 - during warmer weather, they yell right into the mic and deafen you.  Plus the bugs find it a great place to hang out.

Q - I wish you had a better connection.  I know you would enjoy seeing all the different sights.

I would hope that if anyone has different info than I have posted, they will let me know.  In some cases, I have just had to make some educated guesses, but so far have no info to disprove it.

Cold but sunny today - moving warmer weather east tomorrow.  Maybe a weekend to comfortably watch trains - w/o my nose muff.  Cool

Hello everyone. Been very busy on the Provincial political front today here in Alberta, Provincial Premier (think State Governor) resigned yesterday, so I am only now checking in here, 10:47 MST. 45° now, going to 50° later. Officially listed as partly cloudy, partly seems more like 100% now.

Winter in Calgary, two weeks ago blizzards, now this.

Being the political junkie that I am, I probably won't be around here much today.

Chicken noodle soup is ready and on the serving station.  The chicken & dumplings will be ready by supper time.

Here at home, I've got a pot of beef stew simmering for our supper tonight.  Later on, I'll mix up some cornbread, and put that in the oven for our supper tonight.

A couple of rooms in the house was so warm earlier, that Walt had to turn the thermostat down.  And it was only set on 77.  He turned it down to 74, and I have to admit, it's a little chilly here in the entry hall at the computer.  I haven't noticed the outdoor temp for awhile, so don't know what it is.  But on the noon news, it was 39 degrees.  High today is supposed to be 41 degrees.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  And, if Roy happens by, Happy Birthday, Roy!!  Hope you have a great day!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular breakfast on the serving station.

I think I'm still half asleep:  was up until about 11:30 last night.  Walt and I watched Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 from 10 to 11 on TvLand.  Betty White is so funny!!   Then I caught the late local news.

Waiting for the morning paper to show up.  Ahh, here comes the paper person now!  Paper just hit the front door.  At least he doesn't hit the door as hard as some others in the past have done. Thought quite a few times that they were going to break the glass in the door!

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll be back in, after awhile.

Continue to fight Winter with semi hibernation.  27 degrees now, and no snow overnight.  Possible flurries later today....Nothing of accumulation so they say.

At least we've passed on by the severe temps for now.  Mid 20s and better generally last few days, and projected for next several days.

The east seems to continue to be the target of the weather systems coming east, but south of us, and then up over the Metropolitan areas.

Have a niece in Phila. who I'd bet her school is on a snow day today...14.9" I've seen reported....They have had their share and more this season.

Big Smile  Quentin;  I recall thosewinter days.  Snow days from school mean't extra work at the home place for me. Making sure there was wood enough  for mother dears kitchen stove. Then be sure her chickens had plenty of straw in their nest box, and scratchfeed + water. Oh I disliked that,~~ Mom changed my mind real quick when she said " you want supper don't you ? Then Mom let me sit by the stove to shave kindlin' sticks for fire start.  Your warm now, bring in coal for tonight. Yes Mom.  I didn't like that then  , but I miss that now.              Cannonball

Good morning. I didn't plan this I swear, but it is 10:47 again this morning. Same time as yesterdays post.

41° now, up to 54° later. Snow expected in the early hours tomorrow morning. High of only 11° by Sunday. Pretty typical once a Chinook stops blowing.

I've already had a surprising number of phone calls this morning. Don't know what will happen next, have to play it by ear.

See on the News Wire that CP exec's talked a lot about the DM&E and the PRB, but didn't actually say much.

That's all I've got for now.

Quiet popcorn.  Isn't that an oxymoron?

Made fast trip to Syracuse this AM for fire retardent spray.  Part of it is on.  That's a lot of squeezing on that sprayer...  Will finish it up shortly, then hopefully it will dry soon.

Headed for the big train show in Springfield, MA tomorrow.

Went up to the grocery earlier, to get a couple of things to tide us over until after the first of the week.  Cloudy skies, w/ a semi brisk breeze.  I had my hood on my jacket up, so wasn't too bad.  Although, even with gloves on, my fingers were really cold.

Meals for the rest of the day:

1.  Beef stew w/cornbread

2.  Open face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, green beans, and your choice of cole slaw or garden salad.

Dessert:

1.  Yellow cake w/chocolate icing

2.  Icebox lemon pie

3.  Ice cream (whatever flavor you want, from the freezer)

Think I'm gonna go do my exercises, then maybe come back to the puter and check on emails.  You all take care, stay warm, and see you all later.

Grocery store this a.m. - wore a spring coat and left gloves in Millie.  Fried rice for lunch at Vietnamese restaurant we like (Driver always gets Pho, then adds hot sauce and I can sit and watch his face turn red.  I swear he would eat hot coals if they agreed with him.

Did a little train watching.  Lots of Tonka toys out right in our area.  Not a clue what they are doing, but maybe going to fix the xing as part of their work.  They are spread out all up and down the tracks.

Will go shake the chicken cage and see if he has some inside info on what might be going on in the neighborhood.

Yellow cake and chocolate frosting?  Yep - and a cold glass of milk!  Make that supper!  Quiet popcorn later.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Dry and 35 degrees outside this morning.  Our temp's not supposed to climb much at all today.  May get to 37, 38 degrees for our high.

Mookie, you know that around here, there's always at least one cho. cake w/choc. icing, and one yellow cake w/choc. icing!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  how about a nice selection of doughnuts, danish, bagels, muffins, bear claws, along with the regular breakfast menu of sausage, bacon, eggs, etc.

Not much to talk about this morning, so guess I'll go for now.  Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good morning, 32°, wind N 19 mph, windchill 25°. Heavy snow warning with up to 6" expected by tomorrow night. High today dropping to 27°.

Hope all this fine weather doesn't mess with my weekend plans. The team I played Curling with before my shoulder pain became to severe is playing in a Bonspiel (tournament) today, tomorrow and Sunday. I will be there all day today and tomorrow and on Sunday morning. I want to be there to support them, but it is awful hard to not want to get out there on the ice when I start to think they are not doing it right! Still it is great fun seeing everyone.

I will be leaving in about an hour and a half, so I will see you fine folks tomorrow morning.

.....Yes, this place is so quiet this morning.  Here, we have mod. temps {for Winter}, and overcast.  Had an inch of snow last evening.  Just had a light system rotating across Indiana.

We've been lucky with snow fall this season, compared to others...Note another storm coming from the southwest.  Heard them say it would continue and end up over in the east coast area.  The "Low", is rather southwest now, and that seems it just might pass south of us again....

Have a niece that lives in Phila., and that area has had 35 plus inches of snow this season....Much above their average.  Another snow day for her school, a priviate boys school.  {She is faculty.}

Edit:

Now, by latest forecast on the Weather Channel:  The storm coming from the southwest, will come over us....{it's wide}, and according to the tracking I saw illustrated, we'll be hit by it too.

Don't know any figure yet of how much.  Wow...This snow machine...Is it La Nina, can't seem to turn off the snowmachine this season.

Looking at other areas totals so far this season, reminds me of a record we set back in Pennsylvania in the Winter of '58....That was: 188 in. for the total season..!

(1) Pedestrian vs. train last night. (same sorry result - happened next to the local cop shop & firehouse)

(2) Garbage truck rammed a BNSF/UP/RTD underpass this morning on the joint line. The garbage truck lost.

just another fine day.

ps- Mooks, we'll turn the fan on, just send moisture back to the flat half of Colorado (record snowfall up there in the mountains, nothing down here. Mountain town fire crews are having trouble finding fire hydrants with their 6 foot witness flags attached)

Good morning! CW has told me that's been a long time since I was last in here. I had a bad scare yesterday afternoon, and ended up being rushed via ambulance to one of our local hospitals.

Since I choose not to drive, my sister took me grocery shopping late yesterday afternoon, and after I had checked out I was pushing a fully loaded grocery cart out toward my sister's car when I blacked out and collapsed, the next thing I knew, I had an ambulance crew attending to me on the way to Sanford Hospital. We also have a pretty good crew of fire department paramedics and according to what my sister told me, they were on the scene while I was yet unconcious. This was at 4:30. The hospital nurses ran an EKG on my heart and that came out a bit abnormal. I did not have a heart attack, that has been ruled out. I am however, a type II diabetic, and since I had not eaten anything all day, I surmise that my blood sugar level had dropped dangerously low. The hospital fed me dinner.

I think I am doing O.K. now, I had a little trouble sleeping last night - the hospital did send me home at 10:00 P.m. And I've got some REAL NICE bruises on both of my arms from being poked with needles. I made sure I had breakfast this morning, I fixed myself a ham & cheese omelet. Needless to say, all this scared the living daylights out of my sister Ginger.

Yowzers, Ray. That was scary. I too am type 2, and can feel the low sugar before it bottoms out. It feels like I am on fire and gives me a chance to eat or drink something. Take care Bro
