My son texted me this AM about the tsunami. Sounds like things rather petered out by the time it got to Hawaii.
Six feet doesn't sound like much, but many of those South Pacific islands aren't that far above sea level. That's certainly the case on the atoll I was on for a year. Odds are that a six foot tsunami would have washed over a significant amount of the island.
Pizza hits the spot!
Long day. Up til midnight putting reflective strips (one dot at a time) on the back of our fire engine, then out at 7 AM for a meeting two hours away. Dinner following the meeting was good, but then there was that two hour drive home. I'm bushed.

Joe, thank you for fixing the pizzas for tonight. You beat me back in here, by a couple of hours.
Cannonball, sorry to hear about your knee. Just take care of yourself, and don't try to do anything you're not supposed to do, until the doctor says it's safe.
Everyone have a good evening, keep safe, stay warm and take care.
switch7frg Quentin; I agree with you on XM Rad. Past time for that to get here. LOL , was that fellow listening to it when he remodeled the auto repair shop in Muncie ? What a mess that was.

Jim....just a short time ago, as Jean and I drove past that garage...{located on north Walnut St. very near where the C&O {now the Cardinal Greenway Trail}, crosses....I remarked the building really didn't look like a garage business building....More like a neat residential structure. But it did get altered. Not sure what might have been wrong with the driver to blast thru it's front garage doors. Video shows the space inside as the car comes crashing thru the garage doors. Luckily, I don't think it caused any major injuries....to workers.
On the knee injury....Our best wishes for a speedy recovery and healing. That probably "smarted" pretty good.....
We're trying to get rid of Winter here but some days it's two steps forward and 3 backwards.....An inch and a half to add to our aging snow cover here last evening, and now we're above freezing, so it's trying to remove it.
Can't complain though....so many other areas have been hit with so much and all kinds of Winter messes this season. 31" here so far, and that is about 4" above our total seasonal avg. And that has been in reality, 24.3" in my unoffical figures here at home for the past 5 years.
Yes, on the new sourse for music......I hear it out in the family room and the wife is very much relaxing with it in her La z Boy....

This just in on the radio....Tsunami waves of approx 6 ft have hit the shores of French Polynesia.

Good Morning everyone...56 degrees and sunny here in Alamo City.
Listening to the BBC news ATT on the computer. Hawaii is now under a Tsunami Warning.
I remember when I was stationed in Japan...after we had earthquakes, the Japanese authorities took tsunamio warnings VERY seriously. And in the Air Force briefings we used to get. if you were foolish enough to be on the shore..."if you can see the wave approaching...its too late!"
Hope everyone has a pleasant Saturday!
spokeyone; you are very correct. This some warm humor on a cold winter day~~~ LOL
Cannonball
seniorhoagyjrI'm assuming that he was on the computer to long (as he ALWAYS is..) and his mom told him to get off and he didn't......
Well, if he doesn't want to tell us, we won't keep after him.
I think of a college classmate of mine–back in the spring of 1956, by the time he arrived in our physics lab, about a half hour after lunch, word had reached us that another student working in the dining hall had called him "Sugarlump" (he cleared two tables and set them up for the next meal). He did not deny it, but refused to tell us why. Fifty-two years later, at the 50th reunion of our class, he still refused to tell us, saying that it was too embarrassing, when he was asked about the circumstances.

Modelcar Believe this area is much more able to help themselves....not a poverty sticken area such as Haiti. In fact, before this a thriving economy...But now what......?

Well, the strongest earthquake every recorded, a magnitude 9.5, hit about the same area of Chile in 1960 and they were able to recover. I suspect they will most likely be able to do the same this time.

.....And besides the massive Winter in many places, we have the 8.8 mag. on another earth quake down in Chile....Terrible. Looks like infrastructure has really taken a massive beating....Birdges down.....massive breaks in highways....burning buildings from broken gas lines.....Looks like another full blown tragedy. Who knows how much human life this time....Terrible.
(of course she had to trudge over the top of the rest of the used car lot to get to it....)
So I hit up my mother on the superlong distance phone and she mentioned she went to work after a few days off from snow. I asked if they finally got around to plowing our area, or did she do some work with the front end loader.
"No, I just fired up your powerstroke and drift busted out to the main roads."

cherokee woman Walt, Sarah and I went out and played pool last night. I even managed to break the balls decently, with my pool cue. But, it was fun, and very nice to get out of the house, and do something on a Friday night. I think we all had a pretty good time.

In our little home town {many years ago}, and in our rather large Hotel...{originally, main st. was route 30, hence the large hotel....we had a poll hall on the basement level. As a teenager and early twenty's {after being back from Asia}, we had a lot of fun playing pool. At times it seemed to be easy to play and run quite a few balls and other times, couldn't bank shots or hit them correctly, etc....but it was fun....Really enjoyed it. Wish I had room for a pool table {a real one}.....Haven't played the game in years now....
cherokee woman Good Saturday morning, everyone. Well, we're getting a little snow shower at the present time, 7:52 a.m. Very light, and probably won't see more than 1/2 to 1 inch accumulation. It's supposed to be mostly cloudy today, but we may see a spot or two or some sunshine, with a high in the mid 30s. Welcome, Tyler! We're always glad to see new faces around here, along with old friends!! Walt, Sarah and I went out and played pool last night. I even managed to break the balls decently, with my pool cue. But, it was fun, and very nice to get out of the house, and do something on a Friday night. I think we all had a pretty good time. Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Mookie, here's your coffee mug, ready for you! On the serving station this morning: turkey bacon, pork sausage patties & links, has brown potatoes, fried country ham w/red eye gravy and buttermilk biscuits, and there's some regular milk sausage gravy also, along with grits, for anyone who likes them. Everyone have a very good morning, keep warm and safe, and see you all later on, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

Not snowing now.....Overcast, and it looks like Winter as we freshened up our snow overnight with a new inch of the stuff....But many areas are getting it much worse than we are this season, so I'll not complain.
The areas of grass we could see before are covered again of course.
Update: Correction on the snow overnight: Believe it's closer to 1 1/2".
Morning All! Hopefully today can be a kick back and relax kinda day...Pizza sounds really good about now....mmmmm
It's 27 degrees out here in freezing cold Indiana..and the snow is STILL on the ground!!
Murray Quentin, my wife and I bought a new car several weeks ago....It came with Sirius Radio...I LOVE it!. I can now drive into work and listen to BBC World News...

.....I'm sure that is a pleasure in your new auto Murray....That's almost a must now {for folks who enjoy various kinds of music}, and we finally took the bull by the horns here after being so disappointed in the past decade or so of what can be listened to on normal FM stations.
My receiver in my stereo system in the family room is a half dozen or so years in age and not "XM ready", so I had to "get into" just what I had to have to do this project. Had several frustrations, but eventually got it worked out and finally, got it registered today and turned on to the system.
First try was enlightening, as I had full signal indicated from the satellite, and that made me very pleased. Now to become familiar with the unit to let it do it's performance is the next learning curve. So far, very happy with my efforts.

Modelcar Welcome aboard Tyler.... We just returned from a trip over on the outskirts of town for a bit of lunch. Also, finished up my XM Radio project to connect to our family room stereo system.....No snow so far today....Believe we might see an inch or so overnight. Snow on the ground melted some more....Quite a bit of grass showing thru.....Much more daylight in the evening now, about 1 hr. and 15 min.
