Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Joe, thank you very, very much for taking care of breakfast this morning.  I woke up at 6, but have been going a little bit slow this morning.

Well, so far, all we got overnight was a little bit of rain.  When I woke up at 6, our temp was 38 degrees; think it's now at 37.  So the snow seems to be taking it's time getting here, and they now say our accumulation will may be and inch or two, instead of what they were predicting yesterday.  I think Eastern Kentucky is still supposed to get anywhere from 4 to 7 inches by tomorrow night.

Everyone take care, and enjoy whatever activities you have lined up for today.

Good morning and thanks, Joe, for the fine breakfast. Paula, I am sorry that the quack office let you down. We will try to remember you Monday. 36 and overcast with fog in Carolina. Generally blah, which matches my disposition. We are probably going to my sister-in-law's tomorrow for her annual Christmas fiasco. Dinner is always scheduled for noon and always gets served between 3 and 4 PM, normally closer to 4. I wouldn't go except to keep the wife from going to sleep at the wheel!

Everybody take care, stay warm and safe. See yall later

Morning all......

Light snow falling here in Youngstown, OH, supposed to only get 1-3 inches here, just glad I'm not in the Virginia or West Virginia mountains, they are forecast to get up to two feet of the white stuff.

Running glass down to Trenton, OH, today, not sure what's going on after that, most likely will be something to get me closer to home.

Thanks for breakfast all, see everyone later.

.....We're up to 38 degrees now with very light {wet}, snow.....Looks like a bit more than 1 inch so far.....Roads / streets are melting / slushy.  Forecast for us here is up to 2" of the stuff today.......We've missed a screaming bullet of a passing storm here from all indications.

Well, we've been hovering at 37 degrees for most of the day, with a windchill of around 31.  No snow yet, we've just had sprinkles of rain offf and on most of the day.

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Cheese w/extra cheese;  2.  Canadian bacon;  3.  Goetta;  4.  Hawaiian;  5.  Pepperoni/mushroom; 6.  Supreme; 7.  Italian sausage.

Been baking Christmas cookies today, so there's some on the counter for everyone for dessert tonight, in the shapes of angels, shepherds, lambs, wise men, Santa, elves, reindeer, bells, harps, etc.  There may even be a few partridges in the mix somewhere.

Everyone enjoy, have a good evening, and take care and stay warm and safe.  We'll be celebrating our Christmas in just a little bit:  Sarah leaves out Monday, to spend Christmas with her Mom and Grandmom.

Of course, once spring and summer get here, everyone will be complaining that it's too hot and humid. Then they'll all want it to be cold again. Trust me, I know how these things work. Evil

For now, I'm just content to send everyone a gift of snow for Christmas!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  We don't have any snow here in Louisville, Mookie:  looks like it all went east and northeast from us.  I never saw even any flurries, but the morning weatherman said we got flurries, at least in the eastern part of the county.  Sarah and I did go out and buy a 50# bag of ice/snow melt yesterday afternoon.

Our Christmas was really good.  I was given 3 pairs of socks, 3 skeins of yarn, a crossword puzzle book, a Debbie Macomber book about Christmas Angels, and a very lovely homemade Christmas card, along with another Christmas card.

Coffee, juice, hot chocolate, and hot cider are ready, along with plenty of hot water for hot tea.  On the warmer bar this morning:  blueberry and strawberry muffins, bagels, bear claws and cinnamon and pecan rolls.

What would you all like for Sunday Dinner?  I'm taking requests, along with the fresh pot of beef stew I made yesterday afternoon, while the pizzas were baking.

Everyone enjoy your morning, whether you're staying in and staying warm (or semi cool, for Houston Ed), keep safe and take care.

....My guess, we received about 2" of the stuff by the end of the day yesterday.  Just  a snow flake or two now falling now and temps at 32.2 degrees.  Just loaded our 2 special water proof containment sand bags, each of 70# to the back of our little truck {behind the wheel wells.  Once in place, they don't even move over all the season I keep them there.   And they do help.  But with posi-traction differental, one has to be careful on turns so it doesn't push sidways.  That really should be a help moving forward since both wheels are receiving torque with more resistance to spin separately.

So....guess our "Winter" season is under way.....even though we missed the big one this time.  Packed down snow / ice is just as treacherous on unsalted county additions streets, etc.....{where we are}.

So everyone continue to be careful out there...At least it's not critically cold here.  But see there is another weather disturbance brewing out west.  Maybe it can be intercepted in Nebraska and shoved north a bit......

Mudchicken, I had not heard about that, until you mentioned it here.  Immediately went and asked Walt about it.  How I missed that on the news, I'll never know.  I will definitely be praying for his family and his fellow coworkers.

Our Sunday Dinner linup for this afternoon and tonight:

1.  Beef stew w/cornbread (freshly baked, just took it out of the oven), garden salad.

2.  Sloppy joes w/your choice of fries, steak fries or curly fries and garden salad.

Everyone have a very good afternoon, stay warm, take care and enjoy your lunch/supper.

Beef stew and cornbread - sounds almost like what daughter-in-law is planning for Christmas Dinner - at my suggestion.

Yum.

Worked our last three Polar Express trains Saturday.  We enjoy working the trains, but we're also glad it's over.  Stopped by the train this morning and the mechanical department was just finishing up winterizing the cars and locomotives.

An interesting twist to the final day was the addition of the former B&O office car "Silver Spring" to the consist.  One of the members of our parent organization served up homemade soup and sandwiches for lunch, and Italian for dinner,  in the dining room of the car.  I didn't get a chance to sit there while we were underway, but it was easy to imagine what it would be like.

Nice.

.....By no means Cannonball......We received just about 2" of the stuff yesterday and just a snowflake or two since.  Even had above freezing temps both yesterday and today.

2" of the stuff packed down, etc....can get slippery back in our residential additions, but nothing near "snowed in".

We dodged the weather bullet.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  We have a very chilly 32 degrees this morning, going for a high of 40.  So looks like Sarah shouldn't have any problems with her flight out later on.  She and Walt will be leaving out right about the time I'm heading out for my doctor's appointment this morning.

Coffee, juices (oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple, apple, grape) are all freshly made, along with hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are all ready to go this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, sausage and homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and eggs.

I have a big pot of vegetable soup and a big pot of cream of broccoli soup on the stove/range cooking for lunchtime today.  And there's still some beef stew left from yesterday, if anyone wants some of that for lunch.

See you all after I get back from the doctor's.

You would be correct.  It's currently parked at Utica Union Station, on the Adirondack Scenic's storage track.

I believe it's Amtrak-ready.   Clerestory roof, six-wheel trucks.

The owner regularly had us take it to Thendara, where it would stay for several days before returning to Utica.  I've toured it, eaten on-board, but I've never ridden in it.
