Good morning all, and Paula, glad that you are feeling better. I have a light headache, but nothing too bad. 64 degrees and cloudy in Carolina at present.

Willy, pay no attention to that dunce. The heathen will always be offended!

Good morning! Tom, I hope you can quickly rid yourself of that headache. And Paula, I too, am glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Willy, in our society there will always be someone who is offended by something, so don't let people like this bother you!

Today is 9/11, and I just put my American flag out, and I am hoping that the rest of you will do the same.

A beautiful morning here....was a bit foggy, but now the sun  is shining brightly.  We have been preparing for a garage sale for a few days to occur tomorrow.  Weather seems to be cooperating ok.  Find some of the stuff I have has some value....Example:  Set of Cibie H4 7" dia. head lights made in France....pretty salty in price.  One other example:  1930 Acme Stores coffee can....Look it up on here....Surprising...!

Ray, our flag is also flying today (as it is every day)!  At 9:59, I heard over the scanner, someone from the fire department, announcing a moment of silence and remembrance, for the firefighters and all other people who were so tragically lost eight years ago today.  May each and everyone of us never forget all the people we lost that day, and may we all continue to support our troops who are still fighting the good fight, not only in Afghanistan and Iraq, but wherever else we have men and women fighting to protect all people, everywhere.

Best wishes to you Paula. I'll have a bite or two of all cobblers.

Quentin. I saw this car in a parade on Labor Day. It appears to be all original, not restored. What year could it be. I have a guess.

Willy: It's a big world out there. The offended knucklehead will spend his/her time in a very limited part of it.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...the same piece of road has claimed three truckers hauling asphalt in less than 15 days. The ghost of the C&S narrow gage is laughing out there somewhere.

Tom, Joe Wilson does not represent my state, but I am proud of him for having stood up and called Obama a liar, and he should not have appologized for his remark. Obama will continue to lie before the American public to get what he wants, which is control of our lives, and shoved down our throats!

We've had a pretty good afternoon:  I left the house first, went to the library, to pick up a book I had on reserve.  Then I walked to 11th & Broadway (Union Station), and met Walt & Sarah there.  We toured the Disney Christmas Train.  Very, very nice.  It wasn't too crowded today, what with kids just getting out of school (middle & high school, elementary kids weren't out yet), so there was plenty of breathing room.  Just may have to watch the movie, when it comes out around Thanksgiving, Christmas.

FYI, the warmer bar has been completely refreshed for tonight, with plenty of fish, and all the sides and desserts.  Help yourselves, and you all have a fantastic evening.

It still gets warm in the afternoon here--up from 58 to 91 today. We expect thundershowers most of next week; perhaps our section will get some rain this time.

Going up to South Ogden today, we saw one eastbound; it's quite a sight to see a long string of cars on all of the visible railroad where it crosses US 89. Coming home, we saw not one, but two trains north of Salt Lake City. The first was southbound, with one DPU on the rear, mostly covered hoppers and two units on the front. Then we met a northbound, with six units on the point, a few autoracks, many doublestacks, and two DPU on the rear.I expect it was a hotshot to rate so much power. Of course, the line east of Ogden on into Wyoming is not a straight, gradeless line.

Paula, I hope you have had your last sinus headache.

I found it interesting that somebody I work with was quite offended that theology is part of the core curriculum at a Roman Catholic university. Makes perfect sense to me, but maybe that's just my jaded, insensitive Catholic point of view...

Apparently your co-worker has had no previous knowledge of the curriculum you should expect at a Roman Catholic university. You could wonder what religious training, if any, he has had.

But, as other contributors have said, do not not let his remarks disturb you; you may have an opportunity to lead him deeper into knowledge of your faith.

I'd sure like to know who on here feels the need to rain on other members' parades by rating that thread as a "one star"- whoever it is has probably done that to other threads as well.  I hate the fact that the forum software upgrade made those ratings anonymous.  When I see stuff like that, I do my part to swing the rating the other way...Mischief

It has been a beautiful day here....and very nice yet as I type...Windows wide open and ceiling fan running.

A busy day for Jean and I and some helpers.....Getting tomorrows garage sale ready to run.  Any one know what a WebTV is....Have one of those {like new}, in the sale.  Used to use it down in Florida when we spent Winters down there.  {For email}.  Took along a 13" TV for the bedroom anyway, so that also served as the monitor.

Lots of work last few days getting ready here.  Wife prides herself in having a clean environment for it and really a bunch of quality stuff.

Getting very dry here again.

Home from the memorial service.  We hold one each year to recognize those fire department members who have answered their last alarm - generally of natural causes.  This year we also added a plaque to our line-of-duty-death monument recognizing the young firefighter/EMT who was killed here during a medical call in January.

And now that we hold the memorial on 9/11 (it used to be held during our annual firefighters convention, but that's a thing of the past) we also take a moment to remember the 343 firefighters who lost their lives during that event, as well as the police officers and everyone else.

On a lighter note, the local model railroad club has their annual train show this weekend, so that's at the top of the agenda tomorrow morning.  The afternoon will be taken up with a fire department roast beef dinner.  In fact, that'll be dinner at the diner tomorrow night!

Sunday I'm on the railroad.

Modelcar

The vehicle is a 2 door sedan 1937 Chevrolet.

As I recall, the first car I owned was a 2 door 1937 Chevrolet Sedan. What paint it had was the original medium blue. The hand brake did not hold well, so it was quite interesting to start it when it had stalled on a steep hill--one foot on the clutch, and the other on the brake, gas pedal, and starter.

My little sister had an old 71 Chevy Vega (Motor Trend Car of the Year) and lived on the South Hill in Spokane. She used a rock for a parking brake. One summer day she told her little girl to fetch the rock and put it on the rear floorboard. Aimee decided to pitch the rock through the open window. The floor pan was so rusted, that the rock fell right through the floor. LOL I cut out a piece of TV tray & pop riveted it. Bingo. Repairs. Zero Dollars.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Nice, cool 61 degrees here in Louisville, at 7:14 a.m.

Adrian, very nice pictures, and glad to see you're doing o.k.!

Bob, interesting story, there!  Used to know a guy who had a Chevy Vega:  he was our organist at Church.  Think it might have been a 71, but it could have been a slightly later model.  Haven't seen him in 20 years, as he's now a monk at St. Meinrad, IN.

Coffee, juices, etc. are freshly made, and there's milk,, hot water for tea, and, if mudchicken needs it, plenty of Gatorade.

Larry, are you fixing the roast for tonight?  That sounds pretty good!!

Everyone have a great day, doingwhatever you need to get taken care of, and take care.

Good morning. 77 and sunny in Carolina this lovely day. Tonight is BBQ ribs night here. No doubt, Sarah would be delighted to try the stuff we have down here. Not too much on the wireless, nothing to speak of on the computer, and I hear the rack calling me. Time for a nap. TTFN

There was enough sound metal to hold the rivets?Big Smile

This reminds me of the 1950s Studebaker (you remember the ones that you had to look at carefully to determine which end was the front?) that Ricki's younger daughter bought in the early 80's (before she was old enough to be licensed to drive); it had holes in the floorboard. She kept it for several years, driving (once she could, legally) it seldom , but sold it a few years ago.

A little trivia Johnny:

When  post war car production began it was Studebaker who did a one upmenship on the major car companies....Except Kaiser / Fraizer....and they were a brand new car company.

Studebaker brought out their radical design in 1947 model year and most of the major companies didn't get a "new" design on road until the 1949 model year.  {Just warmed over 1942 models}, for the 1946 restart after the war.....

Studebaker had to back order many, many orders as it seems they couldn't meet the current demand.....!

The 47 and 48 models had a really nice front end that went with the total car and then came the radical design "corn picker front end" , that in many opinions destroyed the design overall....
