Well, now! Local media are reporting that two guys went through the drive through at a local McDonald's and were handed a bag with a loaded 9mm semi automatic and several bags of crack cocaine.... What a happy meal that woulda been for somebody!

 Here's tonight's menu:

1.  Roast, taters, carrots w/plenty of gravy, and garden salad or cole slaw, which ever you prefer to have.

2.  Pizza:  pepperoni/mushroom, Goetta, Hawaiian and supreme, along with Italian calzones.

And the roast was delicious (I didn't cook it, but I did slice a lot of it).  We managed to bring in about 125 patrons - a few less than would have run us out of food, but more than we got last time.  We're happy.

Time for bed.  On the railroad tomorrow.

The McDonalds story has abruptly disappeared from the WIS TV newspage where I found it. I wonder if it was a hoax or what.........

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Current temp here in Louisville, is right around 60 degrees, think some of the outlyig areas may be seeing temps in the mid to upper 50s.  Predicted high today will be about 81, 82 degrees, with beautiful sunshine all day.

Coffee, juices, and other regular breakfast beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the breakfast bar this morning:  you have your choice of:  blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls, caramel pecan rolls and doughnuts.

Everyone have a good morning, enjoy your breakfast, and take care, going to Church, work, out railfanning, or just relaxing around the house.

Here's our Sunday Dinner menu for today:  For our football fans, we have:

1.  steaks, burgers, brats, and bbq wings fresh from the grill

2.  pork chop abracadbra w/mashed potatoes & broccoli

Other side dishes include potato chips, any kind of dip you want, and for dessert, there's a couple of football shaped chocolate cakes, decorated like footballs.

Hope your particular team wins, and everyone enjoy!!

....And yes, it has been a beautiful day as I thought it would be this morning....Reached to about 78 and about  a half hour ago it was 73 and clear, and calm.

Flowers are still looking pretty nice around the house, so we watered them just before dark.

Our morning started about like that, and it did get up to about eighty during the day, despite the clouds. When we left for church this morning, Ricki wondered if she should take a sweater--but she did not, and regretted her decision since it was quite cool in the church. We may have rain, we may not have rain the next three days or so.

Tom, it's good to hear that WIS is still around. We never could get a good signal from any Columbia station, or from WSOC in Charlotte. WAYS (Charlotte) came in better, but we usually listened to WBT (also Charlotte) most of the time.

There was a time when I would go to sleep listening to WWL in New Orleans--and wake up to a station in Kannapolis, which broadcast during the day. This was on a radio that I had built (five tube superheterodyne circuit, using a power transformer; none of this AC-DC circuit stuff).

WIS put up a 2000 foot tower in Kershaw County in 1959, I believe, and I thought that made them statewide. Anyway, with the advent of cable, I have lost track of how the over the air stuff works now. WIS was claiming to be Florence over the cable, Florence's channels 13 and 15 are both claiming to be Myrtle Beach, and have moved their news bureaus there. Things are just chaos anymore regarding where a statioin is located. Every little burg has its own radio station now, but they are actually located in Florence or Sumter, but IDing from Effingham, Pamplico, Coward or Scranton

Good Monday morning everyone.  Nice and cool, with a temp right now in the upper 50s, to maybe 60, 61, depending on where you live in the area.  Supposed to get up to about 85 today, with plenty of sunshine.

Coffee, juices are freshly made, and water is nice and hot, ready for hot tea.

On the breakfast bar this morning, bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

And, later on this morning, I'll be preparing meat loaf, shelly beans, corn, fixing fresh garden salads and cole slaw for lunch and supper menu for the day.  And if any of you want something else added to today's menu, just let me know.

Mookie, how would you like to sit out in the garden this morning, and watch the train crews working on the railroad?  (Or did you have enough of that over the weekend?)

Well, except for that rain during our first trip (which, fortunately, I didn't have to work outside in) it was a decent day on the railroad.  Passenger count was predictably low, but will pick up soon, as the fall colors are already starting to appear.

Due to a "short" crew on Saturday, the train wasn't left in it's usual configuration for us on Sunday morning.  We normally do a push move north for our morning trip, meaning a crew member has to be stationed on the "rear" of the train to provide protection.  It's a six mile trip, but most of us have it down pretty well going north.  The locomotive was on the north end of the train, so we pulled north and pushed back south.

I know the territory, but seeing it (and having to call it) "backwards" is still a touch unnerving.

I've got my bearclaw and tea.  Picked up some regional magazines I don't see often at the train show Saturday, so I'll be looking them over.

Mookie is having weekend relapse this morning.  I would go to the garden with you, CW, but can't seem to get one paw in front of the other.  Need several naps today for whatever reason.

Busy all weekend.  But did manage to watch the parade that BNSF put on.  Saw a GP28 roll by, saw NS, CN and KCS all go by.  They all looked very smart in their different "suits".  Then the ugh-orange.  Saw a lot of older paint schemes for BNSF - even they looked nice.  And a grouping of Dash-9's that we haven't seen a lot of lately.  They were even on a wb coal train.  Still haven't seen Joe's new engines, but will keep watching.

Had 4 people at the watch site yesterday right after lunch.  It was a little slower, so there was a short time when all 4 of us were in nap-mode.  Isn't that great - no conversation, just mutual napping.  Going to have a drill team soon - papers up, papers down, nap, watch.....

Huskers won their 2nd game handily but the big 12 didn't look all that great.  Must improve or we will be the sad 12...

Mookie, that's o.k., that you needed extra sleep (nap) this morning:  apparently, so did I.  Went back to bed, and woke back up just before 9 a.m.

The meat loaf, mashed taters, gravy, and all the rest of the side dishes are ready, and on the warmer/cooler bar.

And, even though I went back to sleep this morning, I feel as though I could already take a nap.  But, I'm going to try to stay awake.  Think after I finish here on the forums, I'll go over to facebook, and check out what's happening over there.

We had our first real rain, complete with thunder and lightning, out this way since in June. It started just as I finished cutting some firewood up and and almost filling my woodbox. We do not expect temperatures much above eighty until the end of the week. There may be more rain tomorrow and Wednesday.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Nice, pleasant 64 degrees here this morning.  Johnny, we'll be joining you in the rain department, later on this afternoon.  Supposed to be some thundershowers coming our way, possibly around 5 p.m. today.  That's all right, so long as there's none this morning, to put a damper on Tuesday Produce!

Coffee, juices and the rest of the morning beverages are freshly made, and on the breakfast bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, biscuits & gravy and tater tots.

I really do hope that they bring us some potatoes this morning.  Used the last ones yesterday, when I made the meat loaf.  Watch: it'll be my luck, they bring sweet potatoes, which none of us eat.  I have never been  able to acquire the taste for them, and we had them all the time on the farm, along with regular potatoes.

As far as lunch and supper go today, do you all want to go back to our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta, or would you rather have something different?  Let me know, so I know what to fix after I get through with Produce.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good morning, and take care.

Well, I'm back from Produce.  We had 69 people today, counting our ten helpers and myself.  They were driving a Thrifty Rental Truck, because their truck is broken down.  We got potatoes, sweet potatoes, little cartons of skim milk, spring salad mix (which was just mixed greens) and green apples.

I've got our Mexican Fiesta ready, and it's on the warmer bar:  tacos, burritos, enchiladas, Spanish rice, along with several other Mexican dishes.

Hope everyone is having a very good morning, and I'll be in and out this afternoon.  You all take care, and see you later.

Cloudy here this morning, but pleasant. The temperature right now is 65 degrees and we're going for a high of 80 degrees. No rain is expected for at least the next five or six days.

I have my first Atmospheric Sciences exam in about 45 minutes, so wish me luck on that. I know I'll do fine on it, but a little luck is always nice to have.

I took a break from Arby's during the first few weeks of the school year, but I'm back on the schedule for Friday evening and the Saturday lunch hour, shifts that don't interfere with school work. I'm lucky to have a manager that's willing to schedule me for the times that work best for time, and not necessarily the best for him.

I hope everyone has a good day, and I'll report on the exam later today.

Let's see - rain is wet; fog is stinky - but so is smog.  Hail hurts and the atmosphere around our house always includes a barking dog.

I've got everything fixed and loaded on the warmer bar for supper tonight.  Hope you all enjoy it.

Just heard on the local news, that the rain coming into our area has stalled, and looks like we won't get anything before Sunday sometime.  Then we'll have a cold front moving in, and the highs next week will only be in the 70s.  That'll be nice, since next Tuesday is the first day of autumn.

Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening, and take care.

A little rain here and there today. As we were coming out of Ricki's spa in South Ogden, a shower with great big drops began, and we soon drove out of it--and into another shower about half-way home. We could see scattered showers here and there on the way.

No freight trains were in sight, either going up or coming down, but we did see a Front Runner train, with one unit and three cars, heading north.
