There were some last time I worked, but that was two weeks ago.  Wish I was going to be up there - great chance to meet!   I believe I'll be taking some family members for a ride on Sunday - after the wedding festivities are over.  Which train are you riding?

Snotty here!  Went home before lunch yesterday with an allergy attack.  Took a sleepy allergy pill and don't remember the afternoon.  But feel almost normal today.  Had 5 inches of snow north of us - sandhills are alive with the sound of snow.

Raining - lightly.  Not much else to happen.

Good Wednesday morning to all!  Mookie, have you come out of the closet?  Who's
bothering you this morning, and I'll get after them for you!

Joe, thanks for putting the coffee on, and making the juice.  I've also got hot tea and
hot chocolate going for our resident mudchicken.  Think he needs our help thawing
out!

Breakfast choices this morning:  bacon, sausage, hotcakes, biscuits, sausage,
sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, nice, hot oatmeal, toast, cream of wheat, grits (not
the instant kind, either).

Lunch menu today:  roast beef w/carrots, potatoes, onions, cole slaw, hot dinner rolls
or crescent rolls.

Desserts for today:  hot apple cobbler, apple pie, caramel apples.

Everyone have a great day, and Mookie, hope you allergies are better this morning!

A short report on last week in Iowa.

Iowa Northern owns the ex-Amtrak locomotive.  The rest of the consist was three Amtrak coaches and an office car recently acquired by the Iowa Interstate.  The train was handily parked right next to the hotel.

Ex Rock Island Depot at Vinton, IA.  Looks like they never left.

Off the platform of the office car west of Cedar Rapids.  Pretty good track on the Iowa Interstate.

FRA certified ready to run China built.  If you want one for your back yard, it's for sale.

Brian and Joanie stopped by for coffee after the first day session.  Nice visit and a thanks for the print of the C&NW heritage unit.

Our friend Mark was in Wednesday, but had a business meeting that evening and had to depart right away to work on the process of relocating himself and family.  He has landed an excellent position with a construction engineering firm that does a big business in transportation infrastructure.  The work load may preclude visits to the DD&CS, but perhaps in time...

Beside the trains rides, there were excellent presentations on Iowa Steam and Electric Railroads, past and presents, and great conversations with many old and new friends

Afternoon All,

For starters, VERY belated birthday wishes to Carl, Larry and Zardoz. Hope you all had a great one!

Shipped the sisters back towards Illinois yesterday afternoon. They were a little delayed, but thankfully they got out before the snow got really bad. Of course, today it's all but melted (well at least on the NW side of Denver). We only had a couple inches. Heard that places up in the foothills saw as much as 14 inches.

Meanwhile, glad to see you back, Chad. Did you have a good trip?

Well, I'm still unburying myself from a pile of papers that accumulated on my desk during my sisters' visits. I suppose I should set about the business of tackling that.

Hope you all have a great day!

Joe, there's leftover roast, potatoes, etc. from lunch, and if anyone doesn't want that,
there's also a big pot of ham , beans & cornbread.

Don't think we're supposed to get any rain tomorrow, but the temp is supposed to
drop some tonight, and l believe that Friday & Saturday, we're only supposed to have
highs in the 50s, with night time lows in the mid to upper 30s.

We're drizzly this evening, and probably into tomorrow morning.  I biked to work today, but was rescued for the homeward trip (which was okay--we had other errands to do that involved both of us).  Lows tonight around 40--they're talking about a chance of snow for Sunday.

Frustration--bike computer is down; can't find problem.  Odometer is stuck, among other things.  I'm just a couple hundred miles shy of 100000000000.  How should I be writing that, Brian?

New b/p meds obtained today.  Look out!

Chris, T-Day plans are very much up in the air until I find out when I'm working (you'll probably be here before I find out!).  The California contingent will be here from Wednesday to Saturday morning.

Just too much news to keep up with everyone.  Hope all the birthdays were wonderful.  Glad all our people are back home safe and sound.  And Tree's nuptials will go off without a hitch!

Frosty here this morning.

All ankles are fair game right now.  Allergy season is drawing to a close, so I am feeling pretty frisky!

Going to take coffee and go out back where there is a pile of leaves to play in..................................

Take this along - you'll have a leg up on the narrator once you get to Otter Lake.

Saturday is pretty well out for me - but not completely.  Depends on what the family decides in terms of riding the train vs other plans for the day.  Sunday has been the goal, though.

If I am there, I won't be in "uniform," but may well have my railroad radio on my hip.  At 6'5", I'll be hard to miss.  Might be hard to hook up, though, as the Otter Lake train gets back just in time for the Utica train to leave.  (You might check with the ticket office to see if I'm in the area.)  In fact, we usually cancel our Form D from the train (vs the phone at the station) so the Utica train can get their paper.

Enjoy your trip!  With 300+ on the train, you'll undoubted have both F's, plus the Geep.

Good Thursday morning to all!  I'm still a little bit sleepy this morning, but Mookie,
here's a towel to dry off with.  Those pesky, wet leaves!!

Coffee is on, juice is made, and on the warmer bar, I have:

bacon, sausage, oatmeal, toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, fried taters.

Looks like I listened wrong to the forecast last night, for today:  we are currently at
62, 64 degrees, and will probably hold there until this afternoon, when the temps will
start slowly dropping, as the rain comes in!!  Sad [:(]

Guess that's about it for right now, and if anyone has any lunch/supper requests,
PLEASE let me know.

Joe - had mouse trouble years ago.  Girlfriend got rid of one particularly pesky one.  She accidently sat on him.  He was gnawing on the canvas in a rocker under the seat cushion.  I found him later on the floor dead.  Put two and two together - and had a new exterminator - for free!

Morning All,

Well we've finally had a good couple of nice hard freezes. Thankfully my allergies are finally starting to settle down a bit. I might be feeling a bit frisky, too, but I think I'll refrain from jumping into the pile of leaves behind the DD&CS. There's a kitten in there right now, and she looks a bit miffed (and wet!). Mooks, I set a big fluffy towel that just came out of the dryer out on the porch with a big cup of coffee and some chocolate cake.

Carl, I'm sure we'll be in touch about the Nov. trip. Meanwhile, I've also got the Dec/Jan trip planned out as well. I'll be back again from Dec. 21st to Jan 3rd. We'll have to see if we can get together then, too. I might be hanging out at Eola whenever I have a free minute on these trips, so if anyone else back that way sees me, be sure and stop to say "Howdy!"

Well, I must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN! Ta Ta For now!

Well, I'm sick this morning and staying home from school. I will be off to see the doctor later this morning and see what I've got this time.

It was certainly frosty here, this morning. It looks like most of the flowers in the garden have finally met their end.

No mice problems here, Mookie. Chessie and Tehachapi keep them well under control.

Anyway, I hope everyone has good day today!

Willy
