Bear with me here, this is on the new internet explorer software......

Just looked outside, looks like the grass has about a half inch or better of snow, forecast calls for 1-2 inches. It's been snowing since at least 9 tonight, took a drive out towards Dodgeville and hit a mix at about 4:30 between there and Lone Rock, changed to rain at Spring Green again. Hope this does not foretell the rest of the winter, Farmer's Almanac is forecasting a cold and wet winter here.

Congrats, Larry, on the wedding. My cousin had her wedding today, hope they had alternate plans for the reception, was supposed to be outside. I decided not to go, don't care to use diesel right now, don't care for that side of the family, either. Something on that side of the family just doesen't sit right with me. I'll probably get some angry remarks later.

I think I'll grab a bowl of chili (about 2-alarm, please) and take a seat over in the corner, by the fireplace. Nice and quiet......

See everyone later.

Gee, Randy, I didn't realize I was writing so incoherently!

It's wet out there this morning, so I get the car.  It's not going to be a nice day for a walk.  Or a bike ride.  But we didn't get the snow here.

This is my last day of work before the weekend.  I wonder whether cars in our Conway block will move.

Good Sunday morning to all.  Sorry about getting in so late, but just couldn't get my
eyes to totally open.  But I'm in here, and the coffee is on, along with hot tea, hot
chocolate, and the orange juice is freshly made.

On the warmer bar, you will find:

bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, homemade biscuits, hash browns,
pancakes (hot cakes in some areas), maple syrup, sorgum molasses.

Our temp started out at 55 this morning, and is to slowly drop all day today.  But we
only have a 20% chance of rain.

Larry, that's a great picture of the newlyweds!  Very lovely couple!!

Everyone have a great Sunday, and please be back in around 1:30, when I'll have
Sunday Dinner ready.

Glad to hear everything went well with the wedding. Congratulations to all the participants. How is giving away a bride? I have to look forward to that in some years, although Ed has a leg up on me. That is a new twist on the "demand". Perhaps some Beatles? "All you need is..."

Awesome. I'm ready to dig in. Pass the beef and green beans please. Carrots too. Salad? The cake sounds good, I'll try it out if the diet monitor doesn't see me!

A mixed bag, huh, Joe?  Let's see...would that be mixed leaves and rainwater? Wink [;)]

Couldn't keep track of the perishable train beyond Willowcreek.  They were projecting a Tuesday arrival for it, but I think it'll get there tomorrow.  Hope they're ready for it!

Got the dragon-flu or something (possibly just rain-face from the weather).  Thank Goodness I have a couple of days to recuperate.  Tomorrow I have a new dental hygienist to break in.

We had five tracks out of service in our yard today for tie replacement.  One of the system tie gangs was working in there with about 25 pieces of equipment.

No problem at all, in no small part because I know the groom is the right man for the job.  After the pastor asked who was giving her away, I answered "her mother and I," then gave her a kiss on the cheek, shook the grooms hand and placed her hand in his.  Took my seat and watched the rest of the ceremony.

We enjoyed our trip on the ADIX yesterday. Saw Lois, but she was awfully busy. A good time was had by all and except for the Amtrak related delays in both directions it all went without a hitch. You do have WAY too much snow up there for this early in the season...

We made it up there today (Sunday).  Unfortunately, due to timing issues with the Utica train, we didn't get to go south, so didn't see the river there.  Almost all of the snow is gone already...

Oh, and although the Moose was running high, the Mohawk left its banks in Utica between our departure and return necessitating a little tiptoeing back into the yard...

And the Moose doesn't even drain down to the Mohawk valley...

Evening all.....

Brian, I see Gallagher was in Cedar Rapids this past Wednesday and Thursday, wonder if you got the chance to see him or not. He's coming to the Barrymore Theater in about four weeks, thinking of grabbing tickets and going to see him again, it's been five or six years since I saw his last show (the silage blower bit was great!!).

Another raw day in Madison today, forecast is predicting nothing above 50 for highs for the next week or so, normal high is in the upper 50's. All the snow we got last night is now gone as well.

Found some of Sunday lunch/dinner still, will take a seat next to the fireplace again and have a great meal. See everyone later.

Good Monday morning to all.  I hope everyone had a very nice weekend.

Coffee is on, juice is made, and we have hot chocolate, hot tea also this morning.
If anyone would prefer hot cocoa, there is a kettle of water on the stove burner.

Breakfast this morning is on the warmer bar:

bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, fried taters, oatmeal,
toast.

Have a great day, everyone!!

As much as I'd like to catch his act (from a distance), we can't afford tickets for stuff like this right now.  With a wedding coming up in a year, and Christmas just around the corner, our entertainment right now consists of walking (or hobbling in Joanie's case) the mall or watching TV.

Certainly is a chilly day here as well- 30 degrees here this morning.  We were supposed to get some snow Saturday night, but it didn't happen.

A cup of hot chocolate would taste pretty good this morning. It's pretty cold here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with 19 degrees, but the weather conditions here actually make it feel like it's 11. We were supposed to have gotten a mixture of rain and snow over the weekend, but that never really materialized. The temp here is supposed to max out at about 44 degrees later this afternoon.

I have a job interview at 2:00 this afternoon with our local BEST BUY store, and while I am not very optimistic about it's outcome, I feel I need to give it a shot, since they asked me to interview with them. I have never had any practical experience working in retail, but since I like to talk with people, maybe I will fit in somwhere with BEST BUY.

The happy couple. That really is a smile, by the way.

Their photog used my Rebel XT, along with her own, and I just got my memory cards back with the images still on them, hence the picture.  I'm disappointed - she doesn't look to have been shooting a fast enough shutter for many of them, and got a lot of blurred pictures, including some of the posed shots, which shouldn't have involved any camera motion.  Photoshop only fixes so much.

Hmmm...methinks they were using either Program, Aperture Priority or one of the Pre-programmed modes. By shooting flash, any action should have been stopped, provided that the shutter speed was near the top synch speed (1/200th on the Rebel XT if I remember correctly). In the modes listed, the camera will still try to expose for the ambient light (which in a church, usually isn't much). The flash will go off for it's short burst, which would usually be enough to stop action but because the camera is exposing for ambient light, it will still "see" movement (especially on bright things, like, say, a white wedding dress).

Possible solutions include: 1) Making the camera shoot near the synch speed by using Manual or Shutter Priority Operation. (This'll yield darker background, but sometimes it emphasizes the subject (bride and groom) and actually works pretty well.  2) Using a higher ISO. 3) Use a faster lens (f2.8 zooms, or preferably even faster primes).

Speaking of the flash, it would have been nice if they would have bounced it off of a wall or ceiling, or at least got a bracket to get it off the camera. Those shadows are harsh!

Sorry about the bad luck, Larry. If you need any help with post-processing, let me know. Like you said, though, some things cannot be saved in photoshop.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a Gallagher?  It doesn't sound promising--watermelons ahould be eaten!

Chris, you should consider marketing your photography services nationwide--people get a great photographer if they put him up for a week or so, and tell him about the local railfanning spots (as well as pay the customary charges!).

Slightly better today, Joe--Pat wants us to do some electrical work today, in addition to visiting the dentist--don't know which I should fear more.

Thanx Joe - the extra blanket helps.  We had a little snow - almost got my tongue wet!

Still recovering from a furball weekend.  Didn't venture out too much - sounded like a fog horn! Just a really allergic reaction in "da throat"....I drink and eat items with artificial sweetner - and I shouldn't.  It really raises a riot with my throat.  Especially during allergy months.  So will eat dry kibbles and milk for a week or so and should clear up.

BC led a sheltered life.  I got between him and the TV and he couldn't see Gallagher.  I am almost positive he made our tv screen sticky a time or two.  Can't believe you would pay good $ to get messy!

Poor Mudchix is miffed.  Scrooch your chair over here dearie and tell me all your troubles.  I may have to pull out a few feathers to sooth them properly........Evil [}:)]

I guess I should thank you, Sis, for standing between me and the TV!  Don't have time for that s***, anyway.  In the 1970s I was working evenings, and well married in the later evenings.  Didn't have to bother with televisions or collections of movies; they were often a distraction.

Sounds like this Gallagher was a little more violent than Carrot Top (who is funny, but could be funnier).

And as for you, Sir Chicken, don't bother with that 16-pounder.  The threat of you planting anything or anybody in the ground needs no such reinforcement!  When I'm the miffee, I'd want you to just scowl in their direction!

Dan, he will be at the Barrymore Theater on Friday, November 17 for an 8pm show. Tickets are $25 for general seating, $30 for seating in the splatter zone, both in advance, tickets are $2 more at the door on the day of the show. He also has audio clips on his website that one can listen to. I don't know if he provides the plastic for the splatter zone. Tickets are for sale at www.barrymorelive.com.

EDIT: Carl, he only got violent with the hammer, and took everything out on produce.

See everyone later.

Haven't heard Wierd Al in years, Vic!  Used to catch Dr. D on the radio very late on Sunday nights.

I'm not allowed to wield a hammer when miffed.  And it still sounds like a waste of good produce (I suppose if the produce isn't so good, it would be okay).
