I liked your photo of the old fire trucks, Locomutt. I have a special place in my heart for fire fighters themselves, since they once came to my rescue. In the last place I lived, I had a gas stove, and my Mom once told me that I should make an effort to move both the stove and the refrigerator to clean underneath and behind them. I decided that it was time to do this, and when I pulled my gas stove out, I broke the gas service line, and I did not have a wrench with which I could shut off the gas. The valve was underneath the kitchen cabinet next to the stove. I dialed 911 and the S.F.F.D. was there within 3 minutes. Needless to say, this once incident scared the hell out of me!! With a spark from a light switch, KA-BOOM!!, I could have been history!!Dead [xx(]

Brian - very nice photos! Also, glad to see that Chad is back safe and sound.

I've come down with another nasty cold, but not as bad as the last one. One good note is that there is a chance of snow later this week. Of course I suppose it'll end up going just north of Omaha like it always does, but I can always hope.

Anyone seen or  heard from Ed down in the swamp? Is he doing the backstroke up the switching lead yet?

About to head to Gillette (I'll let Chad know about women "behind every tree" if I can find a tree) on the Campbell Sub just outside town. Of course we go up there after the snow starts flying...

I just saw the news reports from the Swamp and vicinity--not pretty!  We're getting a bit of rain right now, too, though there's no threat of a major storm.

Let us know how things are for you, buddy!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  We've had non-stop rain for 22 hours now.  At

last it's been a steady rain, not really a hard downpour.

Coffee is ready, orange juice is made, and have hot water available for tea and

cocoa.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled

eggs, your choice of hash browns or fried taters; oatmeal, toast

Our ISP is doing a major maintenance.  Haven't been able to get online with them

since last night.  And, they have NO IDEA when it will be back up.  What a lovely day.

Had to go around Robin Hood's barn just to get in the Diner!!

Later, everyone!

Joe, what's your report on the cake checking?  Think I have enough cakes around
here?

Well, Produce is over for another Tuesday.  Today we got potatoes, w bunches of
bananas, and a salad mix.  That was all they had for us today.

Lunch is now ready:  we have the following soups:

1.  beef vegetable
2.  beef stew w/cornbread
3.  cream of mushroom
4.  cream of tomato
5.  broccoli/cheese

To go with the soups, we have the following sandwiches:

1.  grilled cheese
2.  tuna salad
3.  peanut butter & jelly
4.  burgers
5.  hot dogs

Nothing tastes better than a cup of hot soup on a cold day like today. I think I'll have two servings of the vegetable beef soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, and maybe a hot dog as well.

At the present moment we have a temperature of 43 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The wind is blowing out of the northwest at 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 28 mph. I went out to our local Sheraton Hotel to apply for work within the last couple hours. I was too lightly dressed to walk home so I patiently waited for the next bus. When I finally got home I cranked up the heat here and put on a sweater. There is a threat of snow for early tomorrow morning. We could have anywhere from one to three inches of the white stuff on the ground by sunrise.

Afternoon everyone......

Another damp, dreary day here in Wisconsin, supposed to be in the upper 50s with rain, and supposed to rain all week.  Will send Ed a bar of soap to take his bath out in the railyard, heard they got over a foot of rain since about Saturday.

Not much new around here, Wisconsin got to keep Paul Bunyan's Axe for another year, score was something like 41-9.  The Bears last night eked out a win over Arizona, without scoring an offensive touchdown (shades of last year???)

Found out what my truck would sound like if I ran straight pipes, landlord has a truck similar to mine, and I took it for a ride Friday night.  My truck is keeping a muffler on, although a performance one would be nice.

Thanks for the vegetable beef soup, CW, was delicious.  See everyone later.

Heavy wet snow in Denver as we post. Going home will be an adventure. (Do 3 scotties make good sled dogs?)

Taking a bowl of Broccoli Cheese Zoupe to a cubicle with a view to watch the crazies with bald tires start flying off the freeway interchange. Should be good for a little excitement today.

Got plenty of beef vegetable soup, beef stew w/cornbread, and broccoli cheese soup
for supper tonight.  Hope it will warm up some of you, who have had to deal with rain,
wind, and whatever else you've had to deal with today.

Everyone be careful, and Joe, your plates are ready to go.

Wet weather has passed us after dumping a half inch or more since yesterday afternoon (probably closer to a full inch).  No snow through the weekend; it must not want to go east of the asparagus.

(I understand asparagus is best when cooked on the Front Range?)

Just got back from the cardiologist.  The picture they made when they drew my blood was very impressive.  The b/p, however, was not.

One thing you do not want to hear in the cardiology center (but we heard it anyway):  a staff member whistling, "Ding, Dong, The Witch Is Dead".

....Mid 50's and low 60's in our Muncie area today....Heard over my communication radio early this moring we received a bit over 3" of rain over night...Went out and checked my gauge this morning and it showed 2.8" for my location just outside the city...Still quite a bit.

About noon it cleared a bit and no rain this afternoon.  Tomorrow to be upper 60's or low 70's and sunny.  Hope that is true as I have yard to mow.

Traveled from Pennsylvania to Indiana yesterday and had a tail wind....Great for fuel economy.  Figure a bit over 30 mpg.  Lucked out last Friday as we had a brisk wind blowing from the west when we traveled east.  Can't beat that.

You must have the right connections.  I always seem to get headwinds both out and back.

Jay, I get the headwinds both ways, too--and they're a lot more noticeable on a bike!

Still get decent mileage, though--just takes a tad longer.
