Sarah - we are just looking for a reason to stuff ourselves for a week. We will all need SD70's and Dash 9's to pull us out of the diner....

And in case you believe that propaganda that I am 29 - that's ridiculous! My driver's license sez 25! My story and I am sticking to it!

For supper tonight, it's leftover meat loaf, mashed taters, garlic toast, etc., etc.

And of course, for dessert, we have what is left of the first eight chocolate
birthday cakes for Mookie. w/vanilla ice cream, or Neopolitan ice cream,
your choice.

De-tail, Re-tail, - Mutt and Carl need less free time. CW - 8 cakes? No wonder my eyes are crossed.

Joe - I got a copy and going to work my way through all of it, I hope. I have found a college degree is very important in a job interview. Beyond that - seems not everyone should have gotten theirs. (Right now 2 people doctors spring to mind.... )

It is cold, but sun supposed to shine. Cold weekend so will just drive up and down close to tracks to train watch. Don't want Millie's tires to freeze to the pavement!

Good morning all!! Sorry, we "overslept" this morning.

Joe, thank you so much for getting the coffee, juice and hot chocolate going!
Think I'll be taking both a cup of coffee and a cup of hot chocolate this morning.

Regular breakfast menu this morning.

Mookie, our temp is about 20, with a wind chill of 10. So it's time
to really bundle up to go outside. And Mookie, what would you like for lunch
and supper today?

Tip Top of The Morning All,

Finally, I've edited most of the shots from this past trip, and gotten them posted. I'm going to eventually get a message in the forum here, and pick out my fav. RR shots. Until then, the gallery is up here:

http://www.pbase.com/copcarss/nov_05

There's a little bit of everything there, including some of my sis's senior portraits, so I apologize for the non-RR stuff in there.

Meanwhile, you'll see some shots of the former Northwestern Steel and Wire 0-8-0's between Sterling and Galt. Anybody know what's going on with the one that's getting worked on, or who Ken Marks is? (There's a shot of his name spray painted on a con rod) It's interesting that anything is going on here. Especially considering that some work looks somewhat involved, but at the same time the Boiler lagging just got a quick paint job over rust and everything.

Oh well, hope you all have a great day. TTFN!

Gee, Chris, some of those shots make me think I was right there with you!

That one taken at Clinton is nothing short of spectacular (and I wish I'd been there!).

Chris, regarding the Canadian census "ad", there were a number of DCLX (Dow Canada) covered hoppers painted up like this. I wish I knew how many; I think I've seen over 70 different ones.

Compared to Delavan, Ottumwa is a BIG city.

Mookie, you are soooo right: it's a very good day for chilli!! So there are two
pots of chilli on the stove: one, mild/medium; and one, hot/spicy. And we
have lots and lots of crackers to go with it.

Hi all. It's been forever since i've been in here. Happy December. Brrr.
Went to Sam's club the other week and got a set of 6 DVD's called Extreme Steam. 12 hours of selected steam engines in various places. $20! Pentrax made them too. My wife couldn't understand why I was so excited. Good stuff for a cold winter night.

Now that most of you have finsihed your lunch, guess I'll go ahead and
post the supper menu for tonight: Of course, we'll have the usual Friday
night fish fry w/fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw; but you'll also have
your pick of chilli, or potato soup.

Never knew that, Jay, another little tidbit to add to me and my sister's interesting information stack. This one gets filed next to Tom Wopat's hometown (Lodi, WI for anyone interested)

Not much else new up here, other than the 2-3 inches of snow on the ground. Found my parents' video camera that I used to use about 3 years ago to shoot trains (nothing fancy, just a fairly nice Sharp Viewcam, but not digital) and was going through some video I had shot back in 2001 of the Wisconsin Central. Brought back a lot of memories.

I'll take a fish fry for dinner, CW, had baked last weekend, so we'll take the fried this weekend.

Chris, nice shots, I'll have to try to touch base with you over the Christmas weekend to go chasing near my parents in Burlington.

See everyone later.

Because then I'd never get outside again....and right now I'm a bit of a celebrity after getting 4WD stuck twice in 16 hours at Winter Park/Fraser.

Yes Joe, chilli does sound very good for tonight: unfortunately, here at home, it's
not chilli night. Will have to go to the store tomorrow, and see about getting all
the ingredients to have chilli here at home. Tonight, we're have the "L" word no
one here likes to hear about. Some people just don't know what good eating
they're missing.[:(][:O]

In spite of my feeling generally blah overall, I still have an appetite.

And the fish and chili both sound good.

I may be destroying myself for the weekend.

Joe, thanks for putting the coffee on, making the hot cocoa.

Today's Saturday brunch is on the warmer breakfast bar: bacon,
scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, maple syrup,
blueberry syrup.

Everyone have a great day, and remember to be careful out there,
wherever you have to go today, and stay safe & sound.
