Mookie, hope you're taking a big container of the chilli with you. Will warm
up your & Driver's insides once you get into your house, and sit down to
eat. And I'll try to remember that you won't be in tomorrow.

Sounds like the cold air for this week is wide spread....Here in central Indiana we'll be in the 20's for highs and down to teens and possible single digits for lows all this week to at least Friday....Believe some of this is headed clear down to Florida...{Of course modulated a bit by the time it gets there}...But it can get cold down there too...Especially central Fl....spent 8 years of winter there and saw temps into the 20's several times....Got about 1/2" of snow here Sat. overnight and none since...not too bad.

MC,

No joke! My boss almost did that coming in on C-470 from Highlands Ranch this morning. He says he's taking I-25 home tonight! Imagine that, I-25 through the Tech Center during rush hour being the better alternative!

Brian,
Do yourself a favor....Don’t take your medicines with orange juice, or any fruit juice for that matter.
Most contain tannic acid, orange juice and apple juice especially so, and the acid destroys a lot of the medicines ability to work.

Some medicines have a time release coating, so they dissolve farther in the gastric system, not in the stomach, where the stomach acid can also destroy the medicine.

Instead, drink a large glass of water with them, it helps the absorption rate through the stomach lining and the intestines.

Wait about 30 minutes, and then hit the juice.

Never take any medicine with milk, for the opposite reason, it can coat the pill and the gastric canal, and the medicine never gets dissolved enough to be effective.

Read the instructions on the package, they almost to a Tee all say take with water, antihistamines usually recommend a large glass of water.

The above info is from both of my sisters; the oldest teaches internal medicine at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

I'll take two doses of Sudafed with my breakfast, please- oops, you probably don' t stock that, do you? Wait a minute- I do have some, just get me a big OJ to wash it down with. I'll check back in at lunch (cough, cough).

Carl, was the patch of ice on the walkway of your neighbors that have almost a million kids and a trampeleen (spelling) in the back yard?? If it is I'm sure they will make some good use out of it. I know I would.

It started snowing here again tonight. So far it's not sticking to the ground. Speaking of sticking to the ground, we had a lot of accidents in the greater Philadelphia area due to black ice on the roads this morning, also stupid drivers played into the mix. I wonder what traffic is going to be like tomorrow??

No, Sarah, it was the other neighbors (are you kidding? the trampoline people don't bother doing their sidewalks!). I wouldn't want anyone slipping on it. Fortunately, it was pretty visible on an otherwise clear-and-dry sidewalk. The sun was out today, and I hoped it would melt and go away, but it was too cold outside for anything like that to happen.

You Cheeseheads will kindly keep that subzero stuff north of our border, please!

I got the coffee this morning. Way too cold out today. I'm going back to catch a few more Z's.

Guess I won't complain about my 12 degrees this morning, but if it's frigid in the midwest, it'll be here soon enough. Most of the snow is staying in the lake effect belts, although they are forecasting upwards of a foot for those areas.

....And 12 degrees is what it was here too this morning....Central Indiana...No wind and the sun is shining brightly. This is typical what we'll have all this week.

...Ed, that is good info on the no orange juice with medicine....Wife Jean informed me of that in the past year as I would do that occasionally in the past....Had never thought of the negative aspects of it before...So, now it's water only. {With medicine}.

MC,

Thanks for the info! Generally, we have at least one run down to the Tech Center for plans or pre-bid meetings, etc. I might have to see if I can get myself out of the office for once, camera in hand!

Well, it got down to -2 this morning, now sitting at 8 degrees at noon CST, forcast high of 10.

Starting my truck at work this morning, my truck was acting like a Pro Stock Diesel tractor on startup. Lots of smoke [:D][:D][:D]

Keep the chili going, CW, it's good food to warm up to. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...I must have some really bad luck. Went down to the DTC to drop off a package to one of our customers with my camera, and couldn't find him! Made a couple passes over the whole line out to Parker Rd. and back and never saw him. Is he still down that way, and I just managed to miss him while worrying about winter driving?

It's even cold here in sunny California. Yesterday I was in a group on a tour of the BNSF yard in Barstow. It was so cold there there were small patches of ice on the sidewalk behind the Admin. building!

Yeah, Carl, you're right: this isn't the kind of weather you want to be "under"!!
I have alternated between freezing most of the day, or almost sweating. It is
definitely not fun.

Taking another chocolate cake out of the freezer to thaw for Mookie's birthday
