Ok, I'm back.

Those 29th birthdays aren't that hard to take. I've been practicing them for......20 some years.
CW- Take care, we don't want you to get any "sick" germs on the cakes. Seriously, this is not the weather to get the immune system down.
Chris- Great shots!! Have some spots around Clinton/Sterling area we could hit around X-Mas. We'll try to thin the schedule for that week. Could follow Peavine line all the way to Galesburg if time permits and there are some great Quad Cities spots that will treat your camera lense well. Did you sign the book in your cabin at White Pines?
Well very cold here on the sandbar. Tour bus hasn't started in 2 days. Needs new glow plugs. Got the woodburner going good, it's 80 degrees in here. Enough snow to last me for another year. Might try to get out and thin the coyote packs this weekend. They are so thick that there are hardly any bunnies or pheasants left.
Have been very busy but now is the lull before Christmas so will try to stop back in more at the Diner. I need to put on some hibernation weight before I get too thin.[(-D]
Will stop in tomorrow for festivities and CAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm...I must have some really bad luck. Went down to the DTC to drop off a package to one of our customers with my camera, and couldn't find him! Made a couple passes over the whole line out to Parker Rd. and back and never saw him. Is he still down that way, and I just managed to miss him while worrying about winter driving?

My mother--my mother--once served my daughter ice cream for breakfast. So I guess nobody will mind if I have some tomorrow for my breakfast. I'll get the grains in my diet by having some birthday cake underneath it.

Better serve the cake warm! (Hotcakes?) It's not midnight yet, and we're down to 3 above. When I come back here I'll let you know what it got down to.

P.S. This daughter now won't let her parents anywhere near her daughter for mealtime food selection yet!

Good Wednesday morning everyone!! What a nice COLD
morning. (brrrrrrrrr) Coffee is on, juice is made, and the hot chocolate
is just about ready.

Breakfast will be served as soon as the LADY OF HONOR gets
in. Breakfast this morning will be western omelets, whatever else the

Good Morning all! -11 with a WC of -21 !!! Oil in tour bus has turned into sludge, cold water line to kitchen is froze, and it's a kitty party. Good day to call into work with a "Y" day. (why not) Remember 4 months ago when we we *****ing about 100 degree temps. Ah, how good would that feel now!
Will be lurking all day while thawing out pipes.

MC, I don't remember being in that particular building, but I may have been. I don't do quite as much running as I used to. We've got a new estimator that does a lot of that work now, while I get to spend the day at my drafting table doing take-offs.

Willy, Always interested in seeing new photo oppotunities (and I love it when I'm back there on vacation because I actually have the time to pursue the hobby a bit!). I did sign the guest book. We were in the Knotty Pine Cabin, which is one of the new ones on the South Side of Pines Rd. (Across the street and a little East of the main park entrance). My Mom and Aunt really like that cabin, but I miss being able to jump out the door and run over trackside on the Lookout Trail if I heard a distant throb of approaching diesels. Just a bit too far of a run to catch anything in the new cabin.

Meanwhile, the same frosty air that has seen fit to drop over much of the country has affected us as well. While not quite to -11 or -16, we are below zero. This is one of those days when I really enjoy my 15 second commute to work!

Oh well, may you all have warmer weather in your futures. TTFN!

Good Morning all,

At the college right now-studying for a Criminal Justice System exam. I seem to be doing well in my courses despite some stupid mistakes I sure won't repeat in the second semester.

All things look good that in 2 more years, I will be a customs officer. In a few years, I will hopefully be visiting the U.S to watch trains. Maybe then I can finally meet some of you fine folk.

Have some news - it is 7 above - and we had a fire alarm! Stand out side with only half of your winter wear (earmuffs/mittens got left behind!) until those adorable young firemen come to make sure your abode is habitable.

Weatherbug temp sensor in Madison is going up and down like a yo-yo right now--it peaked at 18 about 5 minutes ago, then dropped to 15, now it's on the rise.

Had another smoker start at work this morning-Willy, I know what you're going through, I'm sure the oil in my pan is as thick as corn syurp. I'm starting to wonder if my co-workers appreciate the smoke.[}:)][}:)]

Still working on thawing out the cows so I can send Mookie some milk--at least we don't need refrigeration!!

For Mookie to take home for her birthday supper, and for our diner patrons
in here tonight, here is the supper menu:

country-fried steak, w/potato wedges, mashed taters, green beans, corn,
biscuits and gravy. And, of course, there are several containers made for
Mookie to take home, that includes several pieces of her Happy Birthday,
Mookie chocolate cake, her chocolate eclair from Mutt, and whatever else
she might need to take home tonight.

Also for supper tonight: chilli, bean w/ham soup, cream of potato soup.
So there's lots of options for supper tonight.

Randy, know all about that smoke. My tour bus has over 550K miles so rings are a little worn. My problem is injectors. Have tried every cleaner known to man (and woman) but to no avail. Injectors are about 80 bucks a pop. Times 8. Ouch!!!! Anyway the city hires me during the summer to drive around town and fog the skeeters. LOL

Mook, I'll be the one to ask the question so you can yell at me instead of MC, Carl, Mutt and all the others that will pick up on this. Was the fire alarm a direct reaction to the number of candles on your cake?
I'm going back to my corner where it's relatively safe. Stay warm Willy

Good morning, everyone! Mookie, hope your birthday yesterday was a fantastic
one!!

Well, our temp this morning is about 25, with the wintry mix coming in around
noon time. Think they are calling for us to get up to about 5, 6 inches. Guess
I'll be ready with the snow shovel, and ice melt.

Juice is made, coffee and hot tea, and hot chocolate/cocoa are ready.

Breakfast this morning: went to the store yesterday afternoon and got some
maple & brown sugar oatmeal. So we'll have some of that, along with
toast, and there's also turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, and scrambled
eggs for breakfast.

Wonderful morning! Not a cloud in the sky, and not a degree on the thermometer.... (Brrrrrrrrr!!!)

One nice thing about our neighbors to the north is that they use Celsius, so if it's below freezing, the radio stations tell you it's "minus" something...

Eggs, bacon, and a muffin sound good... Actually, give me a side of the bisquits and gravy, too.

I was on a road trip once whilst in the USAF. Our little convoy stopped in one small town (I'm guessing Tennessee) and the folks at the restaurant promised us bisquits and gravy for breakfast. Unfortunately somebody forgot, or didn't pass the word... Darn.
