Good morning, everyone! Such a nice day today: rain, temps almost reaching
70 here today, then the bottom will fall out tomorrow, with a high of about 45,
after a low of 40 tonight. Coffee and juice are ready.

Breakfast menu: sausage, biscuits & gravy, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs,
toast and jelly.

Lunch menu: BLTs w/fries, tuna salad sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs,
along with a nice hot bowl of the following soups: tomato, potato, and beef
vegetable.

Then, Mookie, beef stew is on the burner, and cornbread is in the oven.
Be sure to stop by, and get two to-go containers to take home with you.

We are currently under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. tonight, and a severe
thunderstorm warning until about 4 p.m. (I think that's what I head on the
weather radio, and the local news). Guess it's about time to batten down
the hatches.[V][:(]

I have the feeling that the seasons will change while I'm at work. Unfortunately, that's a deterioration of conditions I'm lookin' at.

Cher, BLTs and tuna sandwiches both sound good. How about one each for the road?

(Said road will soon include a new restaurant alongside--my favorite place for getting BLTs! Of course, it already has my favorite hot dog place, my favorite burger drive-in, my favorite... I'll probably never get to work, at that rate!)

here with an empty tum-tum, that's your own fault, not mine!![C=:-)][}:)]

The rains have cleared out from here, and guess the temp is start slowly
dropping now. Believe our low in the morning is to be 40, and our high
tomorrow is supposed to be 45 degrees.

I just made a terrible mistake tonight. I went to take a nap at around 5:30 amd I just got up at about 8:15 EST. I shouldn't have done that because, I have to get up at 7:00am tomorrow for school. It looks like I'll be tired again for school. OPPS.....

It was unseasnibly warm here today, when I walked outside this early morning it was about 60 something degrees out. However the roads were covered in what I like to call "morning dew" so it was somewhat slippery out. There were a lot of accidents due to that. I didn't need to warm my truck up!! I saw on the weather forcast that it is suposed to get really cold and rainy tomorrow.

I think I will have some of that beef stew abnd corn bread. Actually, I'll have more than one peice of cornbread please.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! Sure hope the Mookster is all right, and
hasn't gotten snowed in, or snowed under! After all the rain yesterday (thank-
fully, we never got the thunder & lightning), our temp right now is about 46,
and will be steadily falling througout the afternoon.

Breakfast of turkey bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, hash browns is set out
on the breakfast bar. It's Produce Day, so I'll see you all later on.

All youse people east of Nebraska - DUCK AND COVER.

In the land of no weather - we missed the whole shebang. We got maybe an inch of snow - and tons of traffic accidents! People just don't know how to drive slowly in this town. What little snow we did get turned to ice immediately on the streets and bingo - right in front of our house! No one hurt, but the noise raised the hair on my topknot.....

60 mph winds out of the north - and no warnings of hurricanes or tornados. Just normal Nebraska wind! Not too far west of us was inundated with snow and wind - and it is all moving that-a-way! Guess living in a hole in the ground (Lincoln) pays off sometimes! [^]

Looks like Chris and the CZ are running over 5 hours late and still working their way through Nebraska. Sounds like the man on the point may only be able to hope that there are tracks somewhere under the snow drifts.

It has turned colder here, but forecast says that most of the snow has been wrung out of the storm.

We aren't going to get too much in the form of liquid substance (I'm reluctant to say the four-letter S word), but it's raw and windy out there.

Today I'm buried in the basement, well under the weather (in both senses of that phrase). Will have to surface and get out a little later--I promised.

Carl, to help you feel better, how about a bowl of homemade chicken noodle
soup? And a grilled cheese sandwich. (By the way, that's what is for lunch
today, folks: along with beef vegetable soup,

Mookie, supposedly, we're not to get nothing but possibly some snow
flurries Thursday. Still, I have the snow shovel and a bag of ice melt
handy.

Supper tonight: pork chops fixed in the Crock Pot, with brussels sprouts,
or brocolli, or lima beans. Dessert tonight: banana pudding.

Joe, didn't get any peppers or onions today at Produce. All they brought was:
bananas, summer squash (which I'm taking over to my neighbor), and

salad mix.

Mookie,

Please keep those WINDS contained to that area of the Mid-west !!
Had to go out and do several errands today;had the distinct feeling
that I should have had some extra rocks in my pockets !!! The 40 degree temp.
isn't that bad,but the 30-35mph wind gusting to 50+ is a bit hard on
slender people that don't weigh that much....it's sort of a pain on arms and
shoulders grabbing and going from sign post to sign post !![%-)][sigh]

Carl, while you're in the basement, see if you can find a copy of a
certain book a couple of us have been talking about.[:-,]

CW,soup and a grilled cheese sandwich sounds real good right now.

Was looking, Mutt--they haven't turned up yet! I thought there were others when somebody got a copy last year [:)], but can't find 'em now.

We were out and about for a while today. A few in-your-face snow pellets driven by strong wind. For lunch I had the chicken, no noodles, no soup. Then we had to buy a spool of thread--"Dark Spinach". There's a connection there, bright people!

We had the receiving yard emptied out when we went home last night. Today, the trains were running like crazy. We had six or seven at Elmhurst in about an hour.

Supper is now being served. If you don't like any of the veggies listed for
tonight, also have some green beans w/onions & potatoes.

Joe, I've made some mixed fruit Jell-O w/sliced bananas especially
for Matt. Hope he enjoys it. And have plenty of banana pudding for
everyone else.

Very windy and very cold here today. I could use some hot choco and warm cookies.

I followed everybody led and hung my outside lights over the weekend - it was in the 50's and now its in the 20's.

No bonus, Jay--and not unexpected. Monday and Tuesday are normally slow, coming after the civilized world's weekends, and this was after a very long weekend. Of course, things will be winding down until the slowest week of the year, starting around Christmastime.

However, I did get to come home after only 7 hours 55 minutes on duty! Got paid for eight hours--that was my "bonus".

Banana pudding is something I haven't had for a long time. I think the pudding will help soften the adverse effect bananas have on me (mild allergic reaction, I suspect).

Well, today over here in Philadelphia it got up to 70 degrees here! It was really warm out. I'm begining to wonder if we are going to get any snow this year?/ Last year we didn't get too much due to warm weather in the winter. Usually when that happens the winter after, really hits hard like, the blizzard of 1996 over here in Philadelphia. I miss that blizzard, I had off from school for a two weeks and I think we received 3ft of snow, something like that. Well, its raining here now,and is very windy out. I hope the power doesn't go out.

Carl, this is an order..... GET WELL SOON, ok.

Carl- What can we say-An early quit is an early quit!

That reminds me. It was about 7 years ago when I made my first trip in decades on Amtrak. Took the Capital Limited from DC to Chicago. Don't know what day of the week, but CSX's Cumberland Yard was pushing the last cut from the inbound yard over the hump and the bowl and the outbound yard barely had enouugh cars to make up anything like a respectable train. I wondered then if on my next trip by there would be any thing but weedy ballast in the space. On my last trip coming back a couple of weeks ago, the it didn't look like there was room for another modest cut of cars and trains were stashed all around the place.

Times do change.

Sarah, I hope to feel a bit better soon. Went out in spite of things today, and am likely to do some necessary shopping and visiting again tomorrow. I will survive; I'm able to get a little "homework" done.

That looked like quite a squall line headed your way. It might be what's left of the great Midwestern Blizzard, which seems to have passed us by, for the most part.

Good morning all [8D]

Well I worked Monday night then worked Tuesday day. I went to bed about 8 pm Tuesday night and got up around 11:30 or so. After this post I am going back to bed. Duchess has been walked during this "up" period so hopefully no more "wake ups" until around 8 am.

Things were sure crazy over the holiday period and all weekend. Now maybe it will be a little better. I am so tired I don't know if I am in Lead, Trail, or have bypassed the Alerter. [:0] [8] [B)] [}:)] [;)] [8D]

Well, <yawn>, I guess I am hitting the sack again. It certainly is nice being in a warm bed on this cold, windy, chilly night.

Turn the blankets up to medium people! The wind has lessened, but still out there and a tad bit of snow, too.

We will need to take attendance. Everything is so changeable - haven't found Chris, Tree is somewhere, Ed and Carl are sick, Tom "drifts" in and out, etc....

So if you are out there, you need to check in at the front door of the diner....

Joe, CW, Mutt - will record your entry - I will guard the fire in the fireplace....
