Blue sky here in Muncie all day......Snow melting fast....My sending unit for the electronic thermometer was in the sun until just a bit ago and is reading 45.1 so I suppose it is a bit below that actually....Mechanical Thermometer is reading 41....So this February day is not bad at all....and believe we're to have some sunshine each day this week....and that's a good thing...!

Winter has definitely returned with a vengence here - Lake Effect machine is in full swing, and we are picking up several inches. Will have to fire up the snowblower before too long. Many schools closed or delayed this morning, and those in the snowbelt that didn't close have now.

The snow is bad enough - it's the wind that's causing the problems. I've been clearing my peak wind counter periodically so I can catch new gusts - so far I've seen 30 (last night at 9:18), 21 (at 1:13 AM), and 24 (at 10:22 this morning). And I've already got 12 mph recorded.

Visibility is limited, as you may guess, and with all of our mild weather, everyone has once again forgotten how to drive in winter conditions again. Many, many cars off the road, with a few accidents. Fortunately no major injuries... yet...

Stayed home from work with a "good" cold - hope I get past it by tomorrow. Hate being sick!

Had some of that chicken soup I found on the range for lunch. Helped a little.[:)]

Well the "major" weather change is here. I am not sure it turned out to be the major change they predicted but it certainly is not the spring like weather to which we have become accustomed. Our temp is 39, but with a 13 mph wind from the NW the feels like temp is 31. So it definately is coat weather. [:(!] You guys up north are probally happy the single digits they predicted are not happening. Yet they are saying next week will be a little worse. We shall see. I always take a wait and see approach. Weather a week away is too hard to predict with any real accuracy, well that is what I think anyway. [;)]

I hope I am not forced to work our next Monday holiday. I have Tuesday and Wednesday off as they are my normal days off. I am taking a Safety Day on the Thursday following President's Day. So hopefully I will have a 4 day weekend and will go to Missouri (weather premitting) for a late Thanksgiving and Christmas. (I have unopened Christmas presents waiting for me.) They are saying since I missed Thanksgiving and Christmas that we will be having a nice TURKEY dinner. [:D] [:p] [:D] My turkey dinner here was a TV dinner and it was no so good. Quentin;our indoor/outdoor thermometer is showing 25 degrees right now,
not supposed to get a lot warmer today. Maybe make it to 30.
Supposedly,we had 3" of snow over the weekend;we did not see Anything like that here,
didn't even get a good "Dusting" on the grass.

...It doess feel a bit more like February here now and If it gets no worse, no problem....22.1 degrees right now and the sun is just this very minute shining in my office east window and just about to hit my computer screen....and I think it's great. Last of snow was Saturday night...Total here: 2" Not bad.....That's 15.5" {total}, I've measured at our location so far this season...Still, I consider that not bad...Avg. is about 27" per season. To have sunshine, but colder now for next several days...and still no problem with that...February continues to dwindle away....and that's a good thing....

Good morning, everyone! Nice and cold here, so have fixed a nice, hot meal.

You have your choice of: turkey bacon, or sausage with scrambled eggs,
biscuits and sausage gravy; oatmeal & toast (regular toast toasted in the
broiler, or cinnamon toast.

Lunch today will be spaghetti casserole w/garden salad and garlic toast.

Carl, what do you wear for shoes and gloves? And what do you have on your head? I have a pair of winter cycling gloves that work slick. Normally I put neoprene booties over my road shoes but if it's really, really cold I'll take my clipless pedals off and put platform pedals on so I can wear insulated hikers. I have a head sock under my helmet or I use a coolmax beanie that barely fits under the brain bucket. We haven't had a lot of snow that's lasted so I haven't used the studded tires yet this season. I'm glad the commute's only 2.7 miles this time of year.

That's why I don't go much colder--flannel-lined jeans, and a sweater and thermal sweatjacket over my shirt. If I had to wear more than that I wouldn't be able to move! Thinking about a one-way trip tomorrow, but it might be too windy.

Didn't watch the game,have semi kept up with the scores;guess that Sarah will be happy
about the "Steelers" getting the win and it being a Pennsylvania team.
Although I'm not that big of a football fan,my team got knocked out of competing a couple
of weeks ago. So......................just basically helped out doing party stuff today;hope
everyone else enjoyed all the "Excitement"!!

Larry;don't think it got over 30 degrees here today. Our wind chill is making it hard for us.
I think the last I heard was around 18 degrees.We Louisvillians don't like cold weather,
we prefer "warmer climes!!!!

Well, Super Bowl is underway, and I'm more interested in the location of the venue than the teams playing. I'd say something like "let the best team win," but don't want to start a row....

From a high around 41 today, it's now 28 and the snow has begun. We aren't getting heavy lake effect, but we're on the fringes of it, and things are gradually turning white outside. Wind is holding itself up pretty well. Last three hourly records on the ol' home weather station are around 10 mph, which is significant for it's consistency down here in the valley. Had a 24 mph gust around noon.

They are forecasting 48 hours of potential lake effect, although it may swing south later tomorrow. Accumulations of over a foot are possible in some areas. I can hear the snowmobilers cheering now.

Off to some chores. May check in on the game later, to see if I can catch any of those expensive commercials.....

Still not interested, though I did notice the Seahawks ahead 3-0 when I was looking for something else half an hour ago. Sarah, I have more friends in Pennsylvania than in the Northwest ([;)]), so I hope things turn around.

Managed to get out on my bike for a quick twilight trip tonight (mailed things at the Post Office--saw two trains while I was trackside). That was about as cold as I allow myself to venture out that way (the Bug says it's 29). One more round-trip to work, and I could break the 100-mile mark for the year. But I'm ready for some warm (not hot) chili, please!

Joe, thank you for making the three pots of chilli. You must be a mind reader,
because that's what I was planning: along with two casserole dishes of Mutt's
grandmother's spaghetti casserole. Think I'll take a big bowl of the code
red chilli for tonight. Had to go to the grocery and and pick up a large jar
of Parmasean cheese for the spaghetti. Now I can't get warmed back up!![V]

Hope everyone likes the way the football shaped cake turned out. I worked
really, really hard on that to get it to turn out the way it supposed to look. Not
sure I ever want to make another football shaped cake again, though.

.....Walt, we now have 28.0 degrees...and still a bit of bity wind....Roads were pretty dry driving to church this moring...Not bad at all. The colder temps and wind changed that very wet stuff into powdery dry cold white stuff. But it feels like February with wind blowing with the lower temps.....No sunshine yet, but believe the snow {wrap around}, is passed us and sunshine will be next and for the next several days.

YES today is the big game and I'm pretty sure most of you know who I'm going to route for, of course the Steelers. I really do hope they win. Now I don't have anything agains the Seahawks but, the great state of Pennsylvania need to have Pittsburg win, due to the fact that the Eagles blew their chance more than twice. And this year for the Eagles........oh don't even mention it...it was terrible. I went to one game the pre season game agains the Bengals in which the Eagles won, then it was all downhill from there. I got fed up with it and ended up concentrating more on Ice Hockey Season, which is my favorite sport anyway so.... At least the Flyers are doing ok.
