Jay>>>CW & new friends @ diner ; Omaha is 31deg now @1035am . Nice& cozy here in motel ,got hooked up to the right port to send greetings. this city has very large railhead . am seeing familiar names on engines, wating to roll out or passing thru.I think the bulls here are watching railfans as much as we watch them.I try not to look suspect in my brown ducks &pin stripe cap. >>>My drive time will be soon.Iam glad to have found the diner, the C.B. radio is too cluttered with ratchetjaws. Got to check weather for my outbound run .After reading bout black ice on the post , don"t that torun into.Got Rattler fixed @ Peterbilt of Omaha, nice folks.Removed a bunch ofbucks from the card tho.By the time I fuel up &kick the tires ,and give a hoot on the honker to the leery eyed bulls I am outta here. God bless winter, cause nobody else will. See ya soon.Take care now ya heah.

Quentin;think you've got us by 2 degrees,last time I looked at ours,it was
showing 26.6.. Don't think we're to get all that much warmer today here either.
That "Wind Chill" really does make a big difference !!

Jay;glad/hope you had a great time at the party yesterday, and you're very
correct about "Fans" (?) taking their shirts off and running around like that
in this kind of weather. Hummmm, would that be grounds for a "Lawsuit"
against the NFL,for said fans claiming getting pneumonia from their own
stupidity/idiocy??[%-)]

Brian;just step out into the "cold weather" and you will/should get VERY LIVELY !!!![:D]

For those of you who came late to the party yesterday, the festival continues-with a big football game thrown in for added fun.

PARTY DOWN, DUDES!!!

Jay

PS: Given the return of colder weather, Steelers and Seahawks fans will be prohibited from stripping off their shirts and running up and down the depot platform to celebrate scores.

...It finally looks like a February morning here....and the wind is blowing. Looks like just a little dusting over night of snow. Don't know how that moisture that was on the roads yesterday is behaving this morning...Hoping the wind did dry at least some of it....24.6 temp before I set down here at the computer a few minutes ago....to be up around 30 today and maybe...a bit of sunshine later in the day. Snow total for Muncie yesterday was 2" of the stuff.....I'm sure it will feel different than the 40's and 50's we've gotten use to in the past month. Especially with the wind.

Joe, thanks for starting breakfast: and the coffee, and hot cocoa! See you've
got the juice made, too! Oh-oh, what about the sausage to go with the pan-
cakes? Guess I'll get started on those, while you're fixing the pancakes.

Switch8frg, sorry we missed you "rolling by" at 2:30 in the a.m. We would
have been asleep by that time, but you could have honked your horn as
you went by.[;)]

Dan, so good to see you!! Too bad Mookie missed seeing you. Better luck
next time!

Hope the two birthday "boys" enjoyed their birthdays yesterday. Believe our
temp this morning is somewhere in the low to mid 20's, but there's a real
good breeze, when I opened the door to get the Sunday paper. brrrrrrrr!!

Sure hope I don't mess up writing the Super Bowl # on this football cake!
Will have to make sure my hand is real good and steady to write on the
cake.

Jim, glad to see you made it in this morning!!

Happy Birthday to our birthday boys. [:o)] [:I] [;)] [:D]

Our weather has definately turned colder. The temps are not all that bad yet but add a 15 mph wind from the northwest and that changes things in a hurry. [:(!] I have matural gas in the last 2 days than I have in the past two weeks.c [:(!]

Well the winter is trying to come back. Like I said, not real cold yet but tring. We have having several times with lows in the low 30s. [B)]

Boy--stay away from the diner for a couple of days and you miss all of the excitement. Hope I'm not too late to wish you a happy birthday on the day itself, Jay!

The black ice was a problem around here, too, according to the news reports. What's really interesting is that Detroit is getting hit very hard--I hope they can find the football!

Sarah, I'd trade you your rain for our snow anytime! I would like to be able to stay in and relax (sleep, actually) tomorrow, but that's not going to happen.

Wow - go to a class today and miss all the excitement! Happy Natal Day, Jay!

Had to learn the proper way to direct traffic. Only been doing it for 40+ years...

Glad I missed some excitement here early this morning - pedestrian vs semi is never a good thing, especially on the interstate... Not so long ago I'd have been right in the middle of it.

On the other hand, I was up two hours later when a young couple found some black ice and rolled their SUV. In their defense - it's a problem stretch of road and the sander just hadn't gotten there yet... In fact, I met it just before I got to the scene.

Glad everyone enjoyed the barbeque - always a nice break. Now that winter is making it's presence known again. We are under a Lake Effect watch for the next few days, but it's just raining and windy here right now (.38" of rain so far today).

Look at the time! I hear the ol' waterbed calling!

Switch8frg-

I am not the official greeter, but welcome to the diner. It is open 24 hours-someone is always on call-and the best thing is that it is always right next to any place you pull in for a rest.

Keep posting news on your travels-you never know when a train watcher may turn around and wave at a good looking 18 wheeler.

Don't guess the diner was open at 230 am.The weather turned sour north of Little Rock .Got my load of roadside weedwhackers, of all things this time of year. Getting close to my 72/ in 8days. Airbag on suspention blew out on driver, talk about cheap thrill time . Limped back to town to get fix . So I will tie up here for now.Being a newbie with Laptop, I hope this gets to you fine folks. See Ya!!!

Jay, Soo6058, and everyone else here in the diner:

THE PIZZAS ARE READY.

Hope you two guys have had a great birthday (even though you spent some of it doing
other people's taxes, Jay).

Joe, two muchroom and pepperoni pizzas coming right up!!

When you all finish your pizzas, the birthday cake has been cut into slices, so help
yourselves. Vanilla ice cream is in the freezer.

Espeefoamer, I'm working on that football shaped cake right now. I never
thought I'd have so much trouble finding a cake pan shaped like a football!!

Thank yew, thank yew very much. As usual, spent my birthday helping people collect vast amounts of money from the Feds. I will go for several slices, but will save room for a big piece of cake-maybe with a little vanilla icecream?

Then off to the couch for a doze. Sunday is always a day off from work-almost as good as another piece of cake.

See you on the Forum

Beginning to get the pizzas ready for tonight. Think I'll make two special
pizzas, each with a birthday candle in them, for Jay and Soo6058.

Still getting a very light snow shower; nothing is sticking anywhere.

Well, I've got myself busy doing some remodeling work here at home, and since it's kinda cloudy and very cold (22 degrees) today, I don't think I'll venture out to the rails.

....35.8 degrees here right outside of Muncie at about 9:30 this morning....It is our first taste of a little bit of winter here in weeks....Projected to get {in far east central Indiana}, will be 2 to 4" of the stuff by morning. Real wet snow now and not sticking on roads much yet....Very wet stuff....The Low system will pass on east and the "wrap around" of it then will give us some more over night and Sunday morning...But overall It doesn't seem very severe...What has happened though is the jet stream has dipped down below us and now will allow "weather" from north of us to visit next week or 2...according to reports...That IS a change for us....But It's February and we're working our way towards spring with more daylight and higher avg. temps...

Yes, [bday] Jay! Also want to say [bday] to our other forum friend, soo6058,
who also has a birthday today!

Joe, thank you for getting the coffee and juice ready. Also, thank you for
the delicious cinnamon rolls for breakfast..

We'll bring out the birthday cake later on, and have it for dessert tonight,
after we have our annual pizza fest.

It is raining here, getting ready to turn over to snow. Our current temp is
right about 40 degrees, so maybe any snow we get will go ahead and
melt as it lands.
