Okay, here in the Diner, there will be steak and baked taters for supper,
with your choice of a side salad, or a Caesar salad (know Carl will like that),
along with creamed corn and crescent rolls.

Plenty of cake and apple cobbler left for dessert tonight.

Woo-hoo! Normally I can get by on an 8-ounce sirloin, but here in the Diner I'm sure I can put away a Texas-sized slab, so bring it on!

Happy Anniversary to CW and Mutt [:D] [:D] [:D]

And of course, Many More. [:p]

I'll make the Cake. [^]

It will come in sections. (train sections) [;)]

First sections will be the engine, a steam engine of course.

The second section will be the tender.

The last section will be a passenger car.

That is certainly a special cake for a special couple. [;)]

Enjoy [:)]

Sorry Carl, I'll fix you a garden salad. Was thinking you liked the Caesar salads.
And there's a container of apple cobbler to go for you.

Carl and Caesar don't get along, but save some of the side salad for me, please (wish I could be off work for the steak!).

Since the cobbler's left over, I wouldn't mind taking some of that with me!

Courtsey of the muncipal water supply, Temple, Texas!
Canned exclusivly for the PTRA, by an officers relative.

The UP and BNSF grab a case when ever they are out of theirs and are pulling an engine out of our service rack, I am surprised they havent been seen more...
Enjoy your Port Light!

And for Walt and Paula...congrats...turned into a pretty good ride, yes?

Well the "major" weather change is here. I am not sure it turned out to be the major change they predicted but it certainly is not the spring like weather to which we have become accustomed. Our temp is 39, but with a 13 mph wind from the NW the feels like temp is 31. So it definately is coat weather. [:(!] You guys up north are probally happy the single digits they predicted are not happening. Yet they are saying next week will be a little worse. We shall see. I always take a wait and see approach. Weather a week away is too hard to predict with any real accuracy, well that is what I think anyway. [;)]

I hope I am not forced to work our next Monday holiday. I have Tuesday and Wednesday off as they are my normal days off. I am taking a Safety Day on the Thursday following President's Day. So hopefully I will have a 4 day weekend and will go to Missouri (weather premitting) for a late Thanksgiving and Christmas. (I have unopened Christmas presents waiting for me.) They are saying since I missed Thanksgiving and Christmas that we will be having a nice TURKEY dinner. [:D] [:p] [:D] My turkey dinner here was a TV dinner and it was no so good. [B)] [V] So I am looking forward to family, friends, and FOOD. [;)] [:D] [:p]

Hey ED

I was servicing a train Saturday and found something a little different. I opened the icebox (as I always do to check it and throw away "JUNK" of needed) and found silver cans. At first I thought they were sodas. Then I saw a star on them. I thought oh no . . . someone had BEER on this engine. [:0] So I quickly put them into a blue ice bag and carried them off. Later, I decided to look at them again. The large white star has a blue, red, and white "Texas" centered in the star. Then in the upper left hand part of Texas are the letters " P T R A " . By now Ed is already laughing as he knows these cans are just their "bottled" drinking water. All the other railroads use real bottled water, this is the first time I have seen "canned" bottled water. [;)] [:)] I have 4 of them I am keeping for souvineers. [8D] A guy, who will be retiring late this year, said he has a whole case of them. [:0]

Well, got to go, tons of stuff to do before time for work.

Everyone TAKE CARE.

....Sunshine here again today....Sounds like I missed a bunch of news that's related above...so best to all. Visited Dr. this morning to keep a 6 month scheduled check....A bit colder here today...17 this morning. That's the coldest in weeks and weeks....maybe since a time in December. February is moving right along.....and that's great in my eyes.

Thank you all, for the anniversary wishes. It's been a great 19 years being
married to Mutt!! Wouldn't trade him for anyone else! He's the love of my
life, my soul mate forever!!

Now, let's get down to some really good business: LUNCH!!

Lunch today will be open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed potatoes
and gravy, with your choice of peas, green beans, or lima beans, and corn.

Have a chocolate cake, or apple cobbler for dessert.

Anybody have any requests for supper tonight? If so, please let me know
by 1:30, so I can start preparing supper.

Carl - I'm sure some of the 100 or so motorists who found themselves suddenly no longer on the road would be more than happy to ship some of this snow south. All the kids enjoyed their day off from school, though, and the snow enthusiasts are downright gleeful!

Congratulations, Mutt and Cher--I didn't know!

And best wishes to Ed, Sis! I think you've finally found the right person to help. (And I'm not at all surprised that she's a female! Maybe they ask the right questions more often.)

Joe;when I was in college, wish we had means of "downloading" the proffessors
boring lectures, that we could listen to under better conditions than some of the
classrooms that we had then.

Mook;very glad to hear your news,I'm sure it at least brings some relief.

Anybody for a little snow? That fell between Sunday evening and Monday morning....
(Photo from newzjunky.com)

Nowhere near that much at my house, fortunately.

[:D]

Long story short - 9 different doctors, 14 dr appts, 1 cortizone shot, 2 xrays, 1 ct scan, one suggested hip replacement, not one could explain the small pain in abdomen. Lots of schooling and shoulder shrugging. Everyone to a person said either I have no idea or no clue! Not one suggested an internist!

Finally Driver went to an internist who listened very intently, wrote down all the symptoms, asked a few pertinent questions and wrote a prescription for something that works on frayed nerve endings (my words) She.......pause for dramatic effect...........she said it sounds like a small muscle tear that healed and may have pinched the nerve endings in the process.

We both nearly fainted from relief - that is what we have been trying to tell above said doctors since March of 2005!!!! Took one pill and got instant relief. She.....another pause for effect.........she said if this doesn't work over a period of 4 weeks, we will "do something a little more drastic".

I have a little agenda with said doctors, but won't air it here. Just so happy to finally have some relief and if it is temporary, that maybe something can be done for it from another angle.

Hope springs eternal.

Now going to nudge someone into making me an omelette - bacon, tomato, cheddar cheese well cooked and whole wheat toast. Coffee. Lay it by the hammock - I am exhausted! Please and thank you!

Good morning, all! Any new patrons, welcome to the Depot Diner/Coffee Shop!

Coffee is on, juice is made. Have apple juice and orange/tangerine juice this
morning.

Breakfast is laid out on the warmer bar: oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, sausage
patties & sausage links, sausage gravy, biscuits.

Carl, if anyone here doesn't know "Sixteen Tons", where on earth have they been?
(Oh, unless they aren't old enough to have ever listened to Tennessee Ernie
Ford, guess they wouldn't know that song).

Probably not--could be almost anything from "Walking in the Air" to "Sixteen Tons"!

Could also be anything from Bach to Mahler to Khachaturian (my sinful pleasure).

I'm in for supper tonight!

We had a clear but cold day--too breezy for the bike (wind chill in the single digits, and a headwind).

Biking gear: on my hands, biking gloves until about 35, regular knit gloves below that.

On my head, a hood. Or a helmet. Rarely both (no helmet yesterday). Often neither (but not yesterday).

On my feet: work boots, usually. Had lighter boots on yesterday because I wasn't working. I don't use the penny loafers too often.

In my heart: a song.
