Since I can't sing Happy Birthday to you over the internet, I will have to rely on borrowing the following greeting:

May your day be blessed with joy!

Looks like I missed a good meal tonight- but I'll be sure to check in tomorrow to find out the reason for the yellow cake.

We got zilch for snow here, just a 20-degree drop in temperature. Sounds like it might be sunny tomorrow, though, so maybe I'll spend a couple of hours by the UP transcon. Maybe I'll get lucky enough to catch the C&NW units!

What is this I'm hearing about yellow cake tomorrow? If it is possible I think we should have some of that also. Man I might have a sugar rush from all of these sweets. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!

Mookie were is that snow?

Yes, Sarah, we are having a big yellow cake w/chocolate frosting on it
tomorrow. But everyone will have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out
why.

And I've just taken another couple of apple pies out of the oven. So put your
ice cream on your slice of pie, and wait a couple of minutes for the pie to
cool down enough to not burn your tongues.

Don't know about from Mookie's end, but we are supposed to get between
a trace and 2 inches tomorrow. It'll be starting out as rain sometime later
tonight, then be a mix of rain/snow in the morning.

I imagine that she dressed in the "dark" this morning,so she could save
some electricity for "her blanket".

And Larry, please try not to trip over the cord;I doubt that we would hear
the end of it !!

Let's see - Charcoal stocked up, salads are ready in the cooler, Mookie's in the hammock, plenty of lemonade made (pink, too), lots of stuff to put on hot dogs and hamburgers, found some watermelon.

OK, everything is ready for lunch except the cooking.

Oops, better not trip over the cord for the electric blanket, either.

Good Friday morning everyone! Looks like this will be our last "warm" day for
awhile. Our forecast high today is 50. Then, the rain and snow showers will
start tonight.

CanadianPacific, your recipe sounds a lot like the one I use. But I use the jumbo
eggs, and add no water. They are very moist, and so good. Didn't feel like making
the cookies from scratch yesterday, so got a package of the Keebler Soft Batch
cookies at the grocery.

Breakfast today: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs.

Didn't want to fix too big a breakfast, so we'll all have room for the grilled items
for lunch and supper.

cookies;would rather have the "Home baked things"!!

cherokee woman is having oatmeal cookies at her house tomorrow night?

Here is my recipe for oatmeal cookies, I just thought I would share it with the rest of you folks out there.

3 C. rolled oats
1 C. grated coconut
1/2 C. butterscotch chips*
1 C. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 large egg
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1 C. brown sugar - firmly packed
1 stick of Crisco shortening - butter flavored
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C. water

*The butterscotch chips are optional. You can also use chocolate or peanut butter chips.

Combine egg, sugars, shortening, water and vanilla until creamy smooth. Next add the flour, salt and baking soda. Thoroughly blend this all together. Then start adding the rolled oats, coconut and butterscotch chips a half cup at a time.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Form dough into one inch balls and bake on a greased cookie sheet, or a seasoned baking stone for precisely 12 minutes.

I have used this recipe for something like 25 years and it's a favorite among a lot of people who know me. I once offered to bake cookies for others who read this forum, but no one ever took me up on my offer...........except for Sarah, who lives just outside of Philadelphia, Pa. I sent her a batch of my chocolate chip cookies last fall, and this opened up a new friendship between her and I.

Fish and sides plus dessert are now ready.[C=:-)]

Know we're "off track" tonight by having fish; but since we're grilling tomorrow,
thought I'd change the routine a little bit tonight.

Always nice to switch the menu now and then.

Since we'll be grilling burgers and hot dogs tomorrow, we'll have the Friday
Fish Fry tonight.

Have got codd, whitefish, and perch to go along with the fries, cole slaw, and
hushpuppies.

Also got plenty of oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert after supper.
