Paula.....Yes we did, back yard was white with frost at  7:30 this morning before the sun got to it and then it melted away instantly.  Temp at that time was:  41.9 degrees.

Glad you all enjoyed the sketti at lunch; I've made some more for supper, along with some homemade lasagna and some homemade ravioli, and there's also more Texas garlic toast (I found a good sale on that the other day at the grocery!)

Yes, Adrian, please keep in touch with us, when you can, and be careful and take care!!

Quentin, I thought, when they showed the map this morning for the frost area, that you all got some frost this morning.

Adrian, in my last post, I neglected to wish you the best. I think I know where you are headed, so take care, Buddy, and bring that smile home quick and well. G-d bless you in your endeavours and keep you safe. From a navy vet, Nam era

Esshesssss, Just barely got in here; the dog at the door wouldn't let me

in until I bribed her with a "doggy treat" (Loco Mutt!)

Johnny, that section of I-64 is a Royal Pain even when it's dry. I've driven through

there going from Louisville to Ft. Eustis several times. (and back)

[Although there is a nice cheap motel at White Sulpher Springs that's

worth checking in to----not the Greenbrier either.]

Walt, you had better inform that dog about who has authority in the café.

The last time we went through White Sulphur (last month), we crossed the state line in a tunnel–much better than on a highway. In 1954, I went to the Greenbrier–but to see a movie and not to spend the night. I always had much less expensive accommodations in the area; a sister-in-law (Betsy) grew up less than fifteen miles from there (just over the Greenbrier-Monroe county line, on US 219); she lives in Lewisburg now. A sister-in-law of hers lives at the home place now. I have always enjoyed visiting in the area.

Back in the summer of '74, just before we moved out here, we visited Betsy, and she took us up to Cass to ride the Cass Scenic Railroad. This was my second ride; the first was in the fall of '70 (it was really chilly).

Are (were) you in the Reserve, which induced you to drive to Ft. Eustis?

Johnny

Yep, I was in the Ky National Guard for 23 1/2 years.

Helicopter mechanic/crew chief plus firefighter.Been to Ft. Useless

a couple of times; telling me how to transition for a UH-1 to a UH-60.

(Huey to a Blackhawk if anybody cares.)

Well, as far authority goes, I keep trying to move the cat out of the way,

but he just won't go away....So we have to try to be "Buddy, Buddy"

in these circumstances.

Funny you should mention that; we have here at the house both a dog and a cat.

Lets just say that they get along real well when we are around; not real sure what

happens when we aren't around to see things.

Mookie, I'm sure he meant Betsy from Philadelphia, not my sister-in-law in Lewisburg.SmileI've never had reason to sample her needlework, so I can neither recommend or warn.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  It's a cool morning here, temps are about 52, 53 currently, supposed to be down to 47, 48 by 8 a.m., then climb up to mid 70s for a high today.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, BLTs on toast, oatmeal & toast, and there's some fresh fruit:  oranges, blueberries & bananas.

Mookie, I have your coffee mug on the counter, ready to pour coffee into, when you get in here.  (Someone else will have to pour, as I'll be busy with Tuesday Produce.)

You all enjoy your breakfast, have a very good morning, and take care.

.....A most beautiful morning here....66.4 degrees right now.  Continuing our "dry" week here.  Much  appreciated.  Can bearly keep up with yard mowing.  Every 3 days.

Wonder what it will look like after our return after Memorial Day visit out east.  I'll mow it again on Friday before we leave and hope for the best.

Hopefully, that white car {in our Avatar}, can be parked at that same location over our period in that area as it is our favorite spaghetti place....{Lamonica's}.  Location is near Jennerstown, Pa.  Years ago, famous for a half mile race track and it's operation.  Track is still there but believe {due to economy}, races will not be in operation this season....That's a first for a long, long time.

Well, I'm back from Produce.  Had a nice, peaceful crowd today of 65.  Our delivery today:  apples, butternut squash, celery, and potatoes.

For lunch, I have warmed up the leftovers from last night:  Italitan spaghetti, lasagna and ravioli, along with garlic toast, and garden salad.

Let me know what you all would like on tonight's supper menu!  I'm going to take your requests today.  Thought you all might like a change of pace, so let me know what you want to eat tonight!!

You all enjoy lunch, your afternoon, and take care.  I'm going to go take a nap!!

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Another cool start here this morning, with a temp in the low 50s.  Supposed to get to a high in the low to mid 80s today.

Cannonball, sounds like you had a very interesting evening, looking at your Steam11 magazine!

Coffee, juices, and hot water for tea are ready.  And on the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, and the usual breakfast items.

Mookie, got your mug ready to pour your coffee into, and maybe we can sit out in the garden this morning.

You all have a good morning, and let me know if you have any meal suggestions for today.

Nice day here in the north woods, but the family of one of our firefighters isn't exactly enjoying it.  Last word was that their 20 YO son was out of surgery after hitting a power pole last night while riding a 4-wheeler.  He was seriously injured and was flown to a trauma center.

I made the scene well after the fact.  He apparently ended up some 60-70 feet beyond the point of impact (the 4-wheeler stopped instantly and stayed at the pole).   The impact was great enough that it damaged the transformer at the top of the pole, interrupting power to a house.

Kids.

Hopefully he'll recover, but I'm sure it'll change his outlook on life.

I'll have my bearclaw and tea over in the corner booth.

Johnny - most people here know that I am an only child, ergo, I don't share.  So when they went after my favorite hammock here, I needed to go somewhere that I can have rest and not share - kind of my own sleep sanctuary.  But they are welcome to look in the windows.....Mischief  and Sigh   Laugh

Tree - our own Houston Ed had a motorcycle accident when he was young.  Changed him forever, too!  And I don't think he got back on a motorcycle ever again.  Gets their attention and grows them up fast.  Hopefully he will recover as well as Ed did.

And a firefighting FYI - we had a fire in a sawmill north of Lincoln, south of Omaha - called in 7 vol depts to fight it.  No cause yet, but smoldering in the wood chips long after fire.  Pallet company, hence the sawmill.  40 mph winds didn't help, either.

And another beauiful bright morning here....Just perfect.  Just returned from my trip to the barbershop and got all the latest scuttlebut.

I mentioned of the need to build a railroad spur into a site that will build a plant to house production of wind generator gear sets....{50 ton versons}, hence the rail connection is needed.

Now....The word at the barbershop this morning:  Farmers are against the rail spur connection dividing their grounds, etc....That a possibility may be to use the massive just vacated BWA plant right here in Muncie {that already has a rail connection}, to CSX main thru here.

Don't know how much of this word is fact, but it sure is interesting....We'll see.  This empty {as of a month ago}, BWA plant employed 6100 people at one time, so it is large enough to house almost any manufacturing.

We'll have to see where the truth lies.  It would be great to see them use it. Company name is Brevini.

Just last evening Jean and I took a drive over {just a couple miles from here}, to see if the railroad spur actually was started and nothing could be indentified.

Scuttlebut for the morning....and what a beautiful morning it is.....

Lumber yards are always fun.

Even more fun are under-construction apartment complexes.

And I keep forgetting to wish AdrianSpeeder well.   Good luck in the sandbox!  A lot of our 10th Mountain soldiers are already in both theaters.

I really don't think asbestos is too much of an issue.  The building has had very good care and updating over the decades and years....Some parts of it do date back decades, but our service / maintenance dept. {in my opinion}, did a great job taking care of it and adhearing to required updates in specs., etc....

Sorry about just now getting back in here.  But I have been a little under the weather for a few days.  And Mutt was sick yesterday.  Think he's beginning to feel a little bit better today.

I have on the warmer bar for supper:  meat loaf w/mashed taters & gravy, green beans, or your can have broccoli in butter sauce, corn on the cob, and for dessert:  strawberry shortcake.

You all enjoy, have a good evening and take care.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Mookie and Johnny, thank you for wishing Mutt and I better health!  I think he had some kind of 24, 32 hour virus, and I've had an ache in my right side, that makes walking and sitting a little bit on the uncomfortable side.  I actually had to sleep on my back last night, and I'm normally a sleep on your side person.

Coffee, juices, and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  sausage, egg & cheese biscuits, bagels, bear claws, and cantaloupe and watermelon chunks.

You all enjoy your breakfast, and have a good morning.  If anyone has any suggestions or requests for lunch and supper, please let me know!
