Got the living room painted fully tonight and the bathroom has been wet sanded and primed.  It's ready for paint tomorrow afternoon after work!  Two rooms (basically) down and two more to go.  Then replacing windows...and then the hard (fun?) part comes!

Dan - I think Ms Mook found your (typical midwest) spring weather.

Just barely got to freezing here today - and a tad breezy to boot.  The sun was out, but the wind was still quite cutting.

Supposed to warm up later in the week.  Hopefully that doesn't include some of Ms Mooks weather.

Late supper, now back to chores.  Got a big printing job to get done.

Thanks much for dinner tonight, CW. The open-faced roast beef sandwhich was really good! Tongue Yummy!!

At the present moment we have 59 degrees here in Sioux Falls and the temp here is slowly dropping. Meanwhile, the western half of this state, Rapid City and the Mt. Rushmore area are getting innundated  with heavy snow. It doesn't surprise me that the Black Hills of South Dakota are getting hit with a snow storm at this time of year.

We finally warmed up here in Louisville:  68 degrees now, at 5:12.  Still have a breeze blowing, but it's gentle, and not quite as cool as it was around 1:30, when I went out to do a quick errand.

Supper tonight:

1.  More chicken & dumplings

2.  Open-face roast beef sandwiches w/all the side dishes listed on the lunch menu

3.  Spaghetti & meatballs w/garlic sticks, bread, or Texas toast and garden salad

Everyone have a good evening, and I'll try to make it back in a little bit later on.

Paula, thanks for the sausage and biscuits.

Spring was here--and now it has sprung out. Yesterday morning's temperature was about fifty-five. We went to Ricki's younger daughter's for brunch after church, and the temperature was still fifty-four when we started home. As we came south, the temperature dropped, and was at forty-eight when we got home (fourteen miles). It started snowing in the night, and I walked in the snow this morning, and it is still snowing though the sky is geting lighter. It looks like about two or more inches have accumulated. We expect more about Thursday.

Mookie and Brian, I hope you both have lined your pockets with pebbles or something to keep you from blowing away in the wind!  (Also anyone else who path the wind is coming to.)

Ray and Dan,  welcome back to the fold!  You have both been missed around here!!

The chicken and dumplings, and open-face roast beef sandwiches w/all the sides are now ready, and on the warmer bar.

Sun is trying to peak out from the clouds, and it is cool outside.  Wonder when it'll start warming up!  Everyone enjoy your lunch, and have a good afternoon.

Mookie

It is very windy   here right now!  Blowing all that leftover yard waste toward Ray and then Brian (IA).  Sorry 'bout that guys.  Ashamed

Ugh... I'll probably find it in my yard when I get home later- sometimes it seems to be a natural trash and leaf magnet!  I raked up all the leaves in the front yard a week or so ago, and now you can't tell that I did it.

We're about to get NAILed by a solid band of storms heading across the state, yard waste probably in tow...

Mookie, the coffee here is ALWAYS good. CW, thanks for fixin' breakfast for the rest of us.

Right now we have 54 degrees here in Sioux Falls and it started raining here yesterday afternoon at about 1:00. We had a little bit of a thunderstorm here around 9:00 last night. So far, we have gotten six tenths of an inch of rain out of this system and it is supposed to continue raining here throughout tomorrow and possibly into Wednesday. At least it is not snowing here, and the western half of this state is supposed to get two feet of snow within the next 24 to 36 hours......or so I have heard.

I kind of wish I didn't have to go to work today, but in order to be able to financially make ends meet and pay my bills and buy groceries, I've gotta get some hours in. On a rainy day such as it is today, I'd rather stay home and catch up on some reading.

I hope the rest of you out there are all having a good day.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  (At least, I think it's morning:  been awake since just before 4 a.m.)

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, hash browns, tater tots, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

Mookie, I've got your coffee mug very clean for you, and it's ready to have your coffee poured into it, whenever you get in.

Justin, you get your wish:  I'll make some chicken & dumplings for supper tonight.

We'll make this a request whatever you want for supper tonight, and I'll fix it.  So, let me know what everyone wants for supper tonight.

For lunch today, we'll have leftover chicken abracadbra, along with open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, green beans, cole slaw or garden salad, apple sauce, fresh homemade biscuits,  and the usual assortment of desserts (cakes, cobblers & pies).

Everyone have a very good morning, and I'll see you all later this morning.

Larry

We've had the most grass fires here in my part of Indiana here latley. My dad is going to join tne VFD. He is going through traning righ now. Did the owners fill in the, huhmm unfavorable hole?

Supper was good CW!Dinner Also CW,

Since you asked for suggestions today if you aren't fixin' somthin' else tommorow do you think we could have Homade chicken and dumplins'? That sounds really good for tommorow or when ever. Don't fix it if you have somethin' else planned. Just a suggestion!

Had a really good day today pastor Carty took the youth groop to his school so we could play in the gym. I built the littler kids a fort out of tumbling matts. That put a smile on my face to see the happy!Smile

The things you find out after the fact...

(Those with weak stomachs may want to skip this)

Found out that our firefighter who was injured Friday actually narrowly escaped death.  As he crossed what he thought was a plain old field he fell into an old manure pit.  Quick action by a rookie firefighter saved him from sinking out of sight.  It's likely that had he not been so saved his absence might have gone unnoticed until much later.

But he's home, with a few pulled muscles.  His protective gear may be savable....

The former farm hasn't seen a cow in 5 years or more.

All because the property owner was burning trash in his "dump."

Well, looks no one has any suggestions or requests for Sunday Dinner.  So, here is what I have come up with:

1.  Chicken abracadabra w/mashed taters and gravy

2.  Country-fried steak w/your choice of baked potato or mashed taters

Other side dishes will be:  garden salad, lima beans w/corn, broccoli w/cheddar cheese sauce, macaroni & cheese, sliced tomatoes w/cottage cheese and fresh baked cornbread or homemade buttermilk biscuits

If any of you have noticed, I revived the "On This Date in History" thread the other day.  I don't always have anything to post there, as I only have two choices for information:  Arcamax History & Quotes and a  "This Day in History" from one of our local TV station's web site.  So, I would really appreciate any of you adding anything to it, whenever you find something railroad related!!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day;  it's 41 degrees right now, at 6:36 a.m., and going up to low 60s again today, with plenty of sunshine!

Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning!  I always appreciate your help around here.  Hope Matt has a nice time at Sunday School, and I know you'll all have a very  good visit with Grandma & Granpa's this afternoon.

Everyone have a good morning, and if anyone has any suggestions for Sunday Dinner, please let me know, so I can get it going in a couple - three hours.

Hawaiian for me, please.

Bought a new keyboard for the computer today (I wore some of the letters off the old one...).  It's a little smaller and the layout is slightly different, but I'm getting used to it.

Another grass fire today - mutual aid to a neighboring department.  There were several others around the county as well.   Some people just can't wait to do that little burn project they've been planning, or just to burn their trash.  No burn ban yet - when they declare that we get law enforcement dispatched along with us, ticket book in hand....

Tried to do some testing for the fire department this morning (making sure our masks fit properly), but the machine malfunctioned.   I got that fixed, so now it's Sunday morning, instead.  So much for sleeping in....

Yum!!!Dinner Thanks for the supreme pizza CW! I went to Lafayette today to go train watching. I saw a northbound NS mixed freigt on the inside track. It was being pulled, suprisingly, by a BNSF C-44-9W. Probably being returned to it's home road after being repaired at Erie. Also behind that unit was the what I call the "uzge" a NS -9 40 CW. I got some shots. Not very good at all though. One I got a better shot of the flower than the train. The other is so-so. Joe, What is the spirit of Cincanati? I go to Camp Friedlander in Loveland Ohio in the summer. Hope everyone has a good evening!

Sounds like everyone has had a very good day so far!  When I caught the weather report about 15, 20 minutes ago, we were at 60, or 61 degrees.  Very nice out, even with a slight breeze.  Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie;  2. Canadian bacon;  3. Goetta;  4.  Hawaiian; 5.  Mushroom & bacon;  6.  Pepperoni/sausage;  7.  Supreme;  8.  Italian sausage calzones

Desserts for tonight:  Dutch apple pie, peach cobbler, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and chocolate chip cookies

Everyone enjoy your pizzas and desserts, and have a good evening.  Take care, you all, and see you later.
