Good Friday morning, everyone.  Managed to get some really good sleep last night, and am feeling a little more 'human' this morning.

We are currently at 48 degrees this morning, going for a high in the low 60s for today.  Supposed to be a pretty nice day, and I don't think we've got any rain coming in, at least not until maybe late tonight, or in the morning.

Joe, Matt may have been twisting your arm last night, but I bet he didn't do too much damage to Dad's arm. WinkLaugh  Sounds like you all have really enjoyed your vacation this week!!

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider for MC, and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, and the usual assortment of doughnuts and danish, along with turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuits & gravy.

Everyone have a very good morning, and take care.

The Colorado weather sounds terrible.....Saw some video clips this evening on national news and it was awful looking stuff for one week away from April....!  Denver's elevation and near by mountains of course, assures bad Winter stuff is still a possibility this time of the year.

And the folks up in the Dakotas....really terrible situations....We wish the best for all.

Yeah, Mookie, I saw something about that this morning, on Good Morning America.  Oh well, at least maybe now, mudchicken is getting some moisture.TongueWink

I've replenished everything on the warmer bar for our Mexican Fiesta for tonight.

Went out on a couple of errands with Sarah this afternoon.  Nice sunshine, and warm temps.  Now, I feel like I could use a nap.  Maybe I'll take one, after supper.

Everyone enjoy supper, and have a good evening.  Take care.

CW - I think Colorado is working on a new recipe - snow chicken & veggies!  They are getting hammered with snow and wind - hmmm maybe a real blizzard?

Problem is - we are going to get another storm that is still way out west, on Monday.  Oh well.  I don't have to drive in it, work in it or go anywhere in it.  Maybe I will make snow angels with the squirrels!  Or of the squirrels..... Mischief

Well, I see the forums are back up and running, now.  Our rain is finally out of here, and it's clearing up outside.  Our Thursday Mexican Fiesta is ready and on the warmer bar:

1.  Burritos:  beef, beef & bean, and beef burritos enchilada style

2.  Tacos:  soft shell & hard shell

3.  Enchiladas

4.  Fajitas

5.  Chimichangas

6.  Cheesy quesadillas

There's also Spanish rice, chopped lettuce w/tomatoes and cheesy beef nachos, along with tortilla chips w/your choice or choices of picante sauce, salsa, or chili con queso

Enjoy your lunch and have a good afternoon.

Lunch sounds good.

Back in my HS days I worked part time at a liquor store.  One of the jobs was stocking the beer coolers, which included a couple of walk-ins.  One night I had a stack of about 5 cases (old style, flip-top, longnecks) sitting outside one cooler door.  It got knocked over, breaking many of the bottles and filling the store with the smell of beer.  We cleaned it up, but I have to wonder how it smelled the next morning.....

Tea's ready, and so's the bearclaw.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Getting some more rain this morning; coming down a little bit heavy at times.

Joe, thank you for fixing breakfast this morning.  It sounds like a very good start to the day, and I'll fix myself a plate in just a few minutes, after getting some coffee.

I admit, I haven't been setting the alarm clock to get up in the morning.  Unfortunately, we have a cat (Trapper, the Stealth Cat), who has decided at times to walk on the clock radio, and he will step on the snooze button, thus turning the radio on!!  Usually, the only time I set the alarm is on Monday nights, to make sure I'm awake and semi-ready for Produce.

Quentin, I did notice your new avatar, just forgot to mention it!  I like it.

Randy, good to see you had a chance to make it in last night!  Sounds like you're managing to keep busy.  Take care out on the open road, remember to stop in whenever you can.  We also "keep a light on for you"!

How does Mexican Fiesta sound for lunch and supper tonight?  Or, would you all prefer something else today?

Everyone have a good morning, try to stay warm and dry, and take care.

Had alcohol abuse of a different sort, picked up a keg load yesterday, only to find a couple of kegs sprung leaks all over the floor of the trailer.  After unloading today, had to backtrack to Carlisle, PA to get the trailer washed out (and washed the tractor while it was in there).  Now waiting for the floor to dry before heading down to Baltimore to pick up a plastic bottle load.

Randy, that reminds me of an incident I had to deal with several years ago. Once a quarter, I would order a truck load of chemicals that was to be picked up at three different locations. When one particular load came in, the driver told me that a brown liquid was dripping out of the trailer. I knew immediately what it was--a mildly corrosive liquid--, and, after I told him which dock to go to, I called security, and said that I would like someone from the plant's ERT team to come out to that dock, explaining what the problem was. By the time I got to the offending pallet, which turned out to be the first or second one that had been loaded, every ERT man then in the plant was out on the dock, taking life easy until I could get to the problem, which was two one gallon bottles that had been speared when the pallet was loaded. After I got the pallet off, we unloaded the pallet (twenty-seven cases @ four gallons each), took the almost empty bottles (loaded in the San Francisco Bay area) out, and restacked the twenty-six untouched cases on the pallet. Then, the ERT men saw to it that the trailer was washed out before it left the property. This was the only time I ever had such a problem with that vendor.

Another time, a shipment of sulfuric acid from the Phoenix area was delayed because one drum had been set on a nail sticking out of the pallet. I have no idea how long it took the drum to settle down on the pallet, but the driver noticed a liquid dripping out when he stopped near the state line, and he went back to the supplier to get the problem remedied.

All in the day's work, which I enjoyed when I was doing it, but I don't miss it.

Quentin--nice-looking set of wheels. I did not recognize you at first when you came by in them.

Will take a couple of burgers, some mac and cheese, and tap a root beer.  Be over in the corner booth for a while, then off to bed.

Supper tonight will be:  hamurgers, hot dogs, brats, along with the mac & cheese from lunch.  There' also some brownies I just took out of the oven about a half hour ago for dessert tonight.

The sun finally came out about an hour ago; now it's gone back in behind the clouds.  Guess getting ready for the next round of showers that supposed to be here later on tonight, into tomorrow morning.

Everyone have a good evening, and talk with you later.

Johnny.....Have you tried those plastic pads {avail. in different shapes}, one can put under heavey items and slide them across the floor....They really do work.

Several years ago we were doing some renovation around here and Jean and I moved a piano all the length of the living room.  I fastened a pair of the slippery plastic pads on a piece of 2 by 4 and slid one under each side of said piano an we were able to slide it across the carpet without much trouble.

ok - on the peanuts - I will just keep eating the unsalted peanuts in the bucket by the back door.  (squirrel peanuts!)

Sir C - you may have to come a little closer .....for me to dash a little water on you....like.....  Kansas?

Radar sez Kansas is where the moisture is, so guess for now, we are both out of luck!

Supper - hmmm....How about Brats?  Will take mine plain, please!

OK - was dozing over in the corner until Johnny mentioned something:  What is a "partially parched peanut"?  Peanuts with a side of water?

Mookie, thanks for refreshing my memory:  I wanted to ask Johnny about that myself!!  Johnny, can you help us, please, with an answer?

Well, a "parched" peanut is a "roasted" peanut. I think that the idea is that you do not dry them out completely, but stop parching them before they are dried out. My grandfather hung a gallon can on each side of the stovepipe going from the dining room stove to a hole cut out in the tin (actually, galvanized sheet iron) that covered the fireplace opening. The peanuts had to be stirred from time to time so that you would not end up with fully parched (black) and raw peanuts. I never did like the taste of raw or, even worse, boiled peanuts.

There was an operator on the Louisiana Division of the IC who was called "Peanut" because he sold roasted peanuts at high school games. He held the third trick at the Brookhaven station, and had Thursday and Friday nights (11-7) off.

Our front yard violets are blooming.

CW, hot soup and sandwiches would be perfect for a cold, wet day like we are having here in South Dakota. The bean and ham soup sounds real good and I would throw in some crackers to go with the soup. I am one who likes to eat Skippy peanut butter spread on hamburger buns.....I usually buy the 25% less fat variety, and it's very good with a sliced banana. My doctor's office once told me that I should not be eating peanut butter for the simple reason that it's got so much sodium in it. I would love to ask the people at Skippy why they can't produce a peanut butter product that doesn't have any sodium in it and yet still tastes good.

I also see that no one gave me any ideas or suggestions for lunch and supper.  So, guess I'll fix something I have fixed before (although I don't think I've fixed it here in the Cafe or the old Diner before):

Macaroni & cheese w/tuna and diced tomatoes.   Tastes pretty good, too!  And I think we'll also have:

2.  Bean & ham soup along with your choice of PB&J or grilled cheese sandwiches

And, if any of you have any suggestions for supper tonight, please let me know.  Otherwise, it might just be soup and sandwiches tonight, also.
