Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Well, we had some very high winds sometime through the night.  Opened the front door to retrieve the paper a few minutes ago.  Our recycling bins are on the edge of our front sidewalk, almost into the front yard!  Supposed to be another round of storms on their way:  possibly very heavy winds, and locally heavy downpours.  That's for this morning, then another round of it around 4 or 5 p.m., whenever the "cold" front comes through.

Coffee, teas, juices are ready.  On the breakfast bar:  cinnamon rolls, muffins, bagels, bear claws, and some strawberry danish.

Randy, tell your sister congrats on the second place for her afghan.  Thirty plus years ago, when I entered an afghan, I don't think I got any kind of ribbon.  Oh well.  One of these days, maybe I'll try again to enter one.  We're about 1 month away from the Ky. State Fair starting.

You all take care, and I'll see you all after I get through with Tuesday Produce.

Maybe if we do get this storm this morning, I won't have 100 people standing around waiting for Produce this morning.

Evening all.....

Actually, I'm a big fan of the early Hemi, would not mind having a 392 in a Chrysler 300.  It might be a boat, but they would get up and RUN!!! Chrysler, Dodge and DeSoto all had hemis of varying sizes, many were very strong engines.....

Starting to get everything hammered out for fair, one of my sisters took second place in open class on one of her afghans, she's happy, have not heard on my parent's photography yet.  Tomorrow will be down doing more prep and getting the ice cart ready to go, plan is to start hauling ice for vendors and campers at 8am wednesday.

See everyone tomorrow....

Kinda like the two [insert your favorite not-so-brights here] who were standing on opposite sides of the street.

One called to the other, "how do I get to the other side of the street?!?!?"

The other answered, "you're already there."

I've got some work to do upstairs....

I had a '70 fire engine red GTO Judge, a 466 engine, 3 in the floor with a T handle and black interior. Man alive, I used to burn up the road with that beauty, but when it died, it died big time. 4 or 5 things went out at the same time. Finally, I was hoping I could make it to the trade in while it was still running and on the way, the speedometer broke. I still have dreams about that car! Cowabunga!

Then of course is the popular Oldsmobile "Rocket 88":

Rocket '88 lyrics

You may have heard of jalopies,
You heard the noise they make,
Let me introduce you to my Rocket '88.
Yes it's great, just won't wait,
Everybody likes my Rocket '88.
Gals will ride in style,
Movin' all along.

V-8 motor and this modern design,
My convertible top and the gals don't mind
Sportin' with me, ridin' all around town for joy.

Step in my Rocket and-a don't be late,
We're pullin' out about a half-past-eight.
Goin' on the corner and-a havin' some fun,
Takin' my Rocket on a long, hot run.
Ooh, goin' out,
Oozin' and cruisin' along.

Now that you've ridden in my Rocket '88,
I'll be around every night about eight.
You know it's great, don't be late,
Everybody likes my Rocket '88.
Gals will ride in style,
Movin' all along.

....Yes J....the 442 was associated with Oldsmobile.  Some of the meanings of the 442 icon were:  4-speed manual trans.....4-bbl. carb....and dual exhausts.

GTO of course, we're talking Pontiac, and some of the engines were...389....400  and  455.

I was privileged {in that era}, to have a {new}, 1968 Impala Custom Coupe SS427.....Turbo-hydramatic.  Yes, it would flex it's muscles.  only 1700 some were produced of that configuration.  There is a cult following of those cars now....I've read of a $10,000 price tag on a replacement hood for one...{yes just the hood}....They were a bit different than the normal bread and butter Impala's and not many replacements were made....Engine put out 460 #' of torque.  My version was the 385 hp model 427.

Edit:  And look at the coincidence of the time posted.....

Rainy here (again).  Not a problem.

Another forum I'm on had a member ask for songs about transportation.  He got plenty, and 409 was just one of a number of "surf" group songs that showed up on the lists.

I'll second the salad - chef's style - plenty of turkey, ham, and cheddar cheese...

Ms Mook - after letting all the hot out of the boxes in January, we can just fill them up with cold and let that out in July!

Tom and Mookie, using your suggestions for lunch and dinner:

1.  Beef stroganof, big salad, and garlic breadplenty of iced tea (unsweetened & sweetened)

2.  Tuna melt casserole w/peas and carrots

Got the last load of laundry in the dryer.  Looks like I may beat the heat and the afternoon chance of storms after all!!

.....No rain yet, but the humidity is making up for whatever else we don't have and even that is brewing, we're at 81 now.

Wanted to continue trimming shrubs but the humidity and I don't get along very well.

Edit:  I look over at the post count and we've arrived at 409....Anyone remember those street runners.....Didn't have a 409 but did have the 348 version and factory 3 - 2's....A convertible.  Top end it would fly.

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Doors were locked this morning, so just now getting in here.

Coffee and hot water for hot tea are ready; juices this morning:  orange juice, oj/tangerine mix, pineapple, apple, and grape juice.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  cereal, toast, turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws.

Been up 2 and a half hours already this morning.  Have the first load of clothes in the washer, and will get the second load in as soon as this one is finsihed.  Want to get the laundry done and over with, before it gets too hot, and the storms come back into the area.   Supposed to get up to 96 again today, and it's humid, humid, humid around here.

Does anyone have any special requests today for lunch and supper?!?!?!

Ray - We went through Sioux Falls about 5 years ago when we were on our way to Bemidji to see my daughter and family.  I think we stopped for the night there.  Didn't do much looking around since we had a destination and didn't want to spend the time.  As I remember tho, what I saw was very nice.

Lots of places I want to visit, but oil companies seems to be keeping me from going.

Maybe another trip to the north country some day......and this time I will stop and see!

It's very hot and MUGGY here in Sioux Falls right now. We have 93.5 degrees, it wasn't supposed to get any warmer than 86 this afternoon.

Mookie, have you ever come to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Sioux Empire Fair?? Our fair week begins Tuesday morning, August 5th, and runs through Sunday, August 10th. My HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society has been an integral part of the Sioux Empire Fair since 1965.

The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is located on the north end of the W.H. Lyon fair grounds, and directly west of the old national Guard armory. And Mookie, if you show up and ask for me, I would be most pleased to meet you and I would give you a tour of our club's layout. The same invitation I extend to everyone who is reading this forum!
