I think they have revised our high for today:  looks like right at or a little over 90.  All I know right now, is there is no breeze worth mentioning.  Feels very uncomfortable and muggy outside.

Sunday Dinner menu for today:

hamburgers and cheeseburgers, fries, cole slaw or garden salad, and leftover pizzas and calzones from last night.

Walt and I did notice yesterday, that the leaves on our big burning bush are starting to turn.  Maybe we're going to have an early autumn?!?!

You are going to need it. With Colorado being a Battleground State, I guess you can expect the hot air to last into November!

Even Las Vegas is hurting now, something that was not expected to happen. Perhaps Indiana's economy will pick up with all of the speeding ticket revenue that will come in this afternoon from the racing fans heading home.

We have our big race here today, the annual Nanaimo Bathtub Race.

Good morning, it's Sunday. At present, it's 73 degrees again in Carolina and hazy. We had a nice cool evening, hardly like nearly August. I remember that every year, usually in August, we have a cold snap. Really nice after the hide searing heat. Q, enjoy the race. CW, thanks for breakfast and everybody stay safe

...Sunday morning and it appears it will be a good day for our big Brickyard 400 {Allstate}.....Latest report tells us rain will not be a factor.  Temp. now, here:  65 degrees with light hazy like brightness across the sky.  We're to have lower humidity too, hope that is correct.  Would like to open the windows again.....

Good Sunday morning, everyone!  It's going to be a very warm day around our area.  But not supposed to be as hot as it was yesterday, in the low 90s.  Think they're calling for a high in the mid 80s for today.

Coffee, tea, and juices are ready.  Also have hot water on for hot tea.  Fresh lemonade, fruit punch and limeade are also in the fridge.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  doughnuts, muffins, bagels, bear claws and cinnamon rolls.

Hmmmm.   Pizza sounds better than the spaghetti I had...

Lovely weather on the Chesapeake Bay.   Spent the better part of the day in Baltimore at the Firehouse Expo, checking out fire equipment and spending too much money.

Going back up for the parade Sunday Morning.  140+ fire trucks.  Should be cool.

....Dale:

New weather forecast:  Sunday, fair and mild....with 86 the high.  Just got that during the 6 oclock news broadcasts.  So looks like the threat of rain for the Brickyard has been eliminated.

Joe, you are totally right about last night's ballgame.  That was one sorry game.  Hopefully, they will renew and revive themselves tonight!!  Here's the pizza menu for tonight:

1.  Pepperoni/mushroom

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Goetta

4.  Supreme

5.  Calzones

6.  Hawaiian

There are three extra large of each of the pizzas, along with several calzones.

Desserts tonight:  strawberry pie and ice cream (whatever flavor ice cream you want, it's probably in the freezer!)

.....Plenty of coverage on the Brickyard 400 Dale.....I really don't know which is considered the most important race currently.  For some years now, the Indy 500 has lost much of it's luster because of the split between CART and IRL racing.  Now it seems they have agreed to agree again and merge back together.  So that certainly will bump the Indy 500 back up a notch or two again.

But the Brickyard 400 of Nascar is an important offering too....Several hundred thousand of fans will be in the grounds.

Our coverage even of the qualifying this morning was broadcast live here....On Speed Channel.   They black out live coverage of the IRL 500 in this area.  It is then shown by tape later in the day.

Nascar has made a place at the Indy track for it's August race and is popular.

I'm sure you know by now we have two Chevrolets on the front row via qualifying....Pole:  Jimmy Johnson and Mark Martin {number 8}, in the outside front row spot.

They've done a bit of tweaking with engines from what I understand again to level the playing field and the qualifying shows it.

Another Hendrick car {Gordon's 24}, sets in 5th starting position.  The Toyota number 18 that's been unbeatable in the recent past qualifyed back farther in the field which signals a bit of a change.

Hope it doesn't get interupted by rain tomorrow.....We're hot and humid and the possibiliy exists for some rain tomorrow....Hope we get lucky and get the whole race in.  It should be a good one.

PS:  I've not attended either race.  I've been to Indy 500 time trials but not to any of the Nascar function.  We can get so much of it on TV that I choose to catch any of either one that way.

And yes, I've been a Nascar fan for probably as long as it's existed.

Quentin-

I'm curious about the coverage the Brickyard race tomorrow gets in Muncie on the TV and in newspapers, as compared to the May race. Is the IRL's 500 still treated as the bigger event in your area?

Have you been to both?

.....Our beginning here in Indiana is the same as Tom's this morning, temperature wise....73.  That indicates to me it will be a warm one. And I thought I'd make some more headway trimming shrubs....Now, not sure.  About 10 or 11 to go and I will be all around for the first round of trimming this season....But it will require another one later.

Good Saturday morning, to one and all.  Very muggy out this morning.

Larry, sounds like you and your mom had a very good day yesterday.

Coffee, tea, juices and lemonade are freshly made and waiting for you all.  Whatever you can imagine for breakfast is on the warmer bar.  Just help yourselves.  Enjoy your day, and hope you'll be back for the Pizza Fest tonight.

A beautiful day on the shores of Chesapeake Bay.  After a brief tour of downtown D.C. for Mom's benefit (she'd never been there) we headed down to the boardwalk for the farmer's market and cruise in.  Got some fresh peaches, fresh kettle corn, an a couple of fresh funnel cakes.  The cars were mostly interesting, too.

Headed for Balto for the Firehouse Expo tomorrow.

Haven't taken any new pictures of the baby.  She's growing up fast!

Errrrr----screech------using my Jake Brake to slow down......

Been out all day getting my dose of Vitamin D.  Had breakfast out after they drained all my blood out for a blood test!  Dr said I am disgustingly healthy - I do that just to niggle him about not being able to make a ton of $$$$ out of me.

Went to bookstore for coffee, then to the park to watch Driver fish.  I cleaned out Millie while he stood out there and got ignored by all the fish and even a few ducks.  (heard a great duck call - sounded like the real thing - until I realized - it was!)

Driver said he read something interesting on the sports page.  Golfers are blaming Tree for their bad golf.  Seems he runs out and blocks their shots on the courses and that is why they can't do well.  (it is hard to type with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek)  But that is what the sports page said - "Trees responsible for bad shots."

I will take some strawberries from Doghouse - and if anyone needs to travel up there to pick them up - take me.  I would love to visit Maine!

Feel a rest coming on....

Oh yes - Mick Jagger is now officially older than I am.  Until December anyway!
