Willy, what is the temp an egg will fry on a sidewalk? I know we're very close now;
Currently here; temp. 92, dew point 68 and humidity 47 percent.
Mutt - Several sources in a Google search said that the temperature of the sidewalk needs to reach 158 degrees to fry an egg on it. I suppose that if the sidewalk was in the sun all day, it could come close to becoming that hot, although I don't know for sure. We were also 92, but the dewpoint was 77. This resulted in a heat index of 106 degrees. Falls City, Nebraska (just to our south) was 96 degrees with a dewpoint of 82. They had a heat index of 120 degrees.
Mookie - tomorrow and Monday will be near 100, but dewpoints will still be in the 70s. Since the dewpoint and temperature will be farther apart, the humidity will be a bit lower. However, 99 degrees with a dewpoint of 75 results in a heat index of 112 degrees. Thus, it won't feel any better outside.

I had to work the fryer at Arby's today. Standing over boiling hot grease on a day like today was not pleasant.
School starts on August 20th. I can't really complain. Summer is always fun through about the middle of July, but it starts to get boring near the end.
Jess - Happy Birthday!

Hey there, everyone! Looks like it's time to let you know that the pizzas are now on the warmer bar for our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST. Tonight's menu consists of:
1. Cheese w/extra cheese
2. Anchovie
3. Goetta
4. Hawaiian
5. Mexican pizza (Jess, that's about as close as I can get to the pizza you requested, until I can find a recipe for your deep fried dough.)
6. Pepperoni/mushroom
7. Supreme
8. Calzones
And for dessert tonight, in honor of Jess's birthday, whatever flavor Moon Pie you want. There's vanilla, chocolate, banana Moon Pies, so help yourselves.
Just heard on the local news that our high today was 92. So at least today was a tad cooler, and we've had a pretty decent breeeze most of the day. Supposedly, our high tomorrow will be in the mid 80s.

Tom, never thought about you doing anything like that. it's those other "sneaky people."
And you are correct, when we get to those very cold Feb. days, we'll wish it
were July or August just to be warmer. You're right, we'll all never be satisfied!

.....Well, since we've received our rain over night....I decided to get my truck washed, and now that's finished except put some "cleaner" on the tires to do the complete job. Looks like no more rain possibilities unti mid next week.
Temps. have moderated a bit today...84 right now and yes, our humidity has lowered some too.
But beginning next week it is to shoot pretty high...90's stuff.....

Yes, we're finally able to log in here: I've been trying since about 6:30 this morning.
Guess we'll have an actual brunch this morning: Coffee is ready, along with the juices, lemonade and ice cold Gatorade and teas.
On the brunch menu: turkey bacon, home fries, eggs (any way you want them), grits, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy. Jess, would you like the cinnamon in your grits or on cinnamon toast? Also on the menu: whole wheat toast, blueberry jam, blackberry streudle.
Jess, I don't have a recipe for Indian fry bread; if you have the recipe, could you email it to me?
Well, we had another accident up on the corner, from our house this morning. Driver ran the red light, hit another car and spun it around. Fire department had to come, to do an extrication. I hope that's the ONLY accident around here, for a good long while!! There were too many people up at the corner, so Mutt and I didn't go investigate too closely.
Going to be another hot, hot day here in the Louisville Metro area.
FINALLY!!!!!!
Was able to log on to the Forum; haven't be able to since last night.
(maintenance?)
Mook, you may be an only child, but they still share.....
since you won't let me have the hammock and a/c vent, at least put
a COLD bowl of Gatorade out under the shade tree!! (with ice cubes!!)
I'm finally up. Gotta get dressed and go check the mail.
Headed for the antique boat show today with Mom. I would have worked it on bike patrol, but it's pretty boring for that. Besides that would have left Mom sitting home or at the show all day.
Maybe we can score a ride in one of the old boats...

73 degrees this morning when I first checked. But believe they were saying it would get to the mid 80's today with lower humidity. Now that sounds good to me. And, we did get our rain. Finally. Late last night one of those "red spots" did manage to pass over us and rather slow. Haven't checked the rain gauge but expect roughly, 1/2". Certainly needed. Now, maybe mowing today after it dries.
Happy weekend to visitors.
Edit: The check of the rain gauge showed....1.3"
Favorite Pizza would be racoon or was it pine apple, oh yes, now I remember it is Indian taco,
The crust is made from Indian fry bread rolled out like a pizza crust, deep dried and then the toppings are added topped with 3 cheeses, sweet pizza sauce, spiced taco hamburg toppings with shaved hot peppers, green peppers, red onions and light white corn nacho chips crumbled on top , oh yes!!!!!!!, some like Hawiian, I like Native Pizza.
For breakfast 3 Eggs over hard, grits & cinimmon, Turkey bacon, home fries, Wheat toast w blue berry jam, Pine Apple juice, coffee and a black berry strudle....ohhh yaaa!!!
Now when I'm running too an EMS call I'll have enough time for the juice or the coffee but not both...LOL!
But as I go through my day I'll dream about such a feast and then when the pop tarts jump up my breakfast will be served, living the life of an Emt can wreck havok on the system.
Be well and as I tell my friends here, " I hope never to see you while In on duty", this means your in a bad way and we don't want that now do we.

If you're serving them, you may need the fire truck, although habaneros are worse...
The warmer bar has now been refreshed for tonight. And, I've also got a yellow cake w/chocoate icing decorated for our two Birthday people for tonight.

It's already about 85 degrees here now with the Dew Point and Humidiy on the rise.
Supposed to get into the mid to high 90s for this afternoon.
Mook, are you still in the Hammock next to the air conditioning vent? Time to share!
....Late morning now and it's really muggy and hazy looking. Still no needed rain. Today will be very warm and I suppose a chance of a rain system hitting us, but sort of doubt it. I have been mowing each 4 days for weeks, but now as it continues to become drier, it won't be necessary today....{the 4th since last mowed}. But still have 7 shrubs to trim. Right now too muggy to do that.
Sounds like some of you fellows have a nice spread of acreage to tend to....That's more than I could take care of. We set on .65 acre here. On the center of two 100' lots. Golf course back of me, so lots of space {that someone else takes care of}.
Everyone enjoy upcoming weekend.
My favorite Birth day treat is a Moon Pie, also called whoopie pies in some places or black moons, ahhhh, I love any kind of sweets really the bear claws will do, you did mean the do nut kind and not the walking kind right?
Nance, I don't know you but I'm happy to be sharing a birthday with you, Happy Birth day!!!
And to Cherokee Woman Thank you for remembering us on our birth days, it is always nice to be wished well.
Nature report from your Friendly Indian reporter.
yesterday was a good wild life day here in the shady woods of Ossipee NH, in the morning during my Jack Russell Terrorist play time outside we got to see about 5 hawks above, in the tree line a deer came to eat acorns off the ground and a couple chipmunks decided to play with my dog, I guess some one should tell them that my dog is from a long line of rat killers so I guess since I'm a protector of Nature I'd better make them some tiny suits of armor.
In the after noon the deer returned this time with two younger ones, must have went home and told the other two about the fine dinning experience at the Red Horse Lodge.
At just about sun down while the pup was taking a potty break we got visited by a black bear we have come to know as "Dipper" she got her name from her right shoulder dipping when she walks, I believe that she is an older warrior bear that survived a hunters bullet that gave her the dip in her walk, I can tell she is older because over the last 2.5 years she has never shown up with cubs and her muzzel is showing her age.
We had another male black bear of about 275Lbs that we call "Big shadow" due to his ability to hide real well in the shadows at dusk, he use to come around on a regular bases until after the last hunting season, I'm hoping he is still well and out there.
Now we are over due for a visit from the flock of 9 turkeys and a big Tom that come to eat the bird seed that spills over from the feeder, I was out early this morning around 6:00 AM and could hear them but not see them in the thick green forest that surrounds our home on 200 acres of undeveloped land. (we care for 10 acres of that).
Well that's your morning Nature report and as always remember, all wild life should be admired from a distance, The earth does not belong too us we belong too the earth, Aho! (It is done)
Jess Red Horse.
Good Friday morning, everyone. Not too excited yet this morning. Went to bed at 9:30 last night, because I was so tired. Couldn't hold my head up or keep my eyes open. I didn't wake up until 6 a.m. this morning.
Coffee, teas, juices, and lemonade are ready for this morning. Also, got water heating for hot tea.
On the breakfast bar, you'll find the regular assortment of doughnuts, danishes, bagels and bear claws. Wish I knew what Nance 69's and Jess's favorites were: I'd put a birthday candle (unlit, of course) in for each of them, and save them until they get in.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCE AND JESS!! Hope your birthdays are good ones, and hope your biggest birthday wishes come true for you today!!
Oops, I guess I should have clarified my tornado story, your correct no lives were lost here due to the storms, sorry about that, I'm working on my reporting skills.
have a great day and please pass the halapinos...Yummmm!!!
Strolled out and got food for panty. Strolled back in. Sitting under ceiling fan. Should have a glass of cold water and a nap to follow! Ah - summertime! Heading to bed to read - tv stinks this time of year!

//BAM! BAM!//
Nope, heater's still stuck in 'cremate' position. Nuts. According to my mirror, 95 here in the shade in Effingham, IL, started in Corinth, MS this morning with about 77 (Corinth is in the NE corner of MS), and will stay hot thru the weekend. Got washed yesterday with all that rain that went through Louisville this morning, removed all the dust on the rig, but had to slow down because it was coming down so hard.
Will take dinner, then decide if I want to get up early to try to beat Chicago traffic tomorrow (about 3-1/2 hrs away at truck speed). See everyone later......
