Hmmm, a karoake machine for here sounds really good.   Especially, if we load it with railroad songs.  Mookie, Orange Blossom Special  will be the first song in it!  And, it has to have Wabash Cannonball, too.

Dan, when we get the karoake machine, you and I will use it one morning, before the others get in, so they won't boo us out of here!

Got the BLT fixings ready.  There's also chicken tenders, so people like Mookie, can fix your own BLT or Club sandwich.  And there's plenty of fries to go with the sandwiches/clubs.

The Produce truck didn't have much on it this morning:  5 # bags of cole slaw, 5# bags of shredded/chopped lettuce, 10# bags of potatoes, along with oranges and bananas (bananas & oranges, loose, so we only got 4 apiece.  Good thing, I guess, cause we had 51 people, and ran out of all the produce, even the potatoes.

At 1:14, our temp has gone from the 41 degrees this morning,at 5 a.m., down to 21 now.  Think we're supposed to get down to about 13, 15 overnight, with wind chill in the minus category.  I know I'm going to be bundeling up later on, with my thermals, and a long sleeved top on!!

You all enjoy your meal, have a good afternoon, stay warm, and take care.

forum seems to have server trouble a lot here lately

I note others are seeing some problems on here as well as I have.....I promised Erick I'd report it {again}, if I had trouble at my location here and I have so last evening I did put a note on to him to inform what time it was noted, etc.....Seems that is one piece of info they were looking for....At what time was the problem{s}, presenting themselves.

The cold is working it's way in.....32.9 as I first looked this morning and now it's 26 and windy...maybe 20 to 25 mph gusts.   The winter snow advisory produced just a bit of off and on snowflurries blowing horizontal here this morning.  Actually, the sun as broken thru several times.  We were advised we'd see 1 to 3" from 4 am to 1 pm today....Not so as of yet and checking the radar, I don't see it coming.  Seems {again}, it's sliding east, north of us.

Good morning. 40 degrees with on and off rain in Carolina this morning. The weather prognosdigators prongnosticaters prognastigaters guessers say it will top our around 47. Tonight, it is prongisticated guest that there will be a hard freeze. What this place needs is a karoake machine. What do yall say.

BLTs sound great, karaoke...not so much.  If I started to sing, windows break, dogs howl, and people leave rooms quickly.

Heard CN had two rails break at the start of the Manitowoc Sub from cold this morning.  Knowing one of the track maintainers...he's not going to be happy!  Back to sweltering heat at 0 heading for -15 tonight.  Gotta love winter!

Very sunny, no wind, snow ended up being a few flurries and a beautiful day except for the 5 above temp!

Brian - forum seems to have server trouble a lot here lately.  And my bet is that they do know about it.  I wonder if they don't have different servers for different parts of country.  Some people get to post, whilest others watch and fume.

Let's see - railroad songs.  Orange Blossom Special - don't have to sing that one.  Can get away with just tapping my foot.....  Cool

CW - throw a piece of chicken on my BLT and I will have my favorite sandwich - a club!

Clipper time in my part of the north woods.  That doesn't mean a haircut, though - gonna want all the hair we can get.  Alberta Clipper - bitter cold.  Weather advisory for today says snow followed by wind (which will mean zero visibility, since we've gotten several inches of light snow over the past few days), then we get the cold.  Highs in the single digits, lows approaching -30.  Schools are even considering taking a snow day.

BLTs will be fine.

Karoake might be fun - have to stock it up with railroad songs, too!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Well, we're at our high for today:  41 F here in Louisville this morning, with very light rain (at least light for now).  Supposed to be down to 38 at 8 a.m., down to 32 at noon, and in the 20s by 5 p.m.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready. And on the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy.  Mookie, got your coffee mug down, and it's on the counter, for you.

Let me know if you all want the regular Tuesday Mexican Fiesta, or would you like BLTs with soup for lunch and/or supper tonight?  Or would you like to have something else?

Brian, thanks for the picture.  I think I've seen some homes like that in our Metro area.  Are most of them only one or two bedroom homes?  They look on the small side.

Yeah, I think the ones left around here are all on the small side like this.

Jen, it wouldn't surprise me that they might've had more than one floor plan available.  A couple of the others are in this same neighborhood here, if I have time I'll scout around and get a snapshot of them.

EDIT:  Blasted website is acting up again... couldn't even access this thread for half an hour after it wouldn't respond to my first post, resulting in this double-post...

Evening, everyone.  Mutt and I were gone most of the afternoon:  a part on his eye glasses broke yesterday, and I needed to have mine readjusted.   Then we stopped at the grocery, and picked up a few more items to have on hand.

Brian, thanks for the picture.  I think I've seen some homes like that in our Metro area.  Are most of them only one or two bedroom homes?  They look on the small side.

RJ, thanks.  I figured out there it would be called a ranch, but know there are small ones that are called farms.

Supper is on the warmer bar:  leftover spaghetti casserole w/salad and garlic bread; and also, there's some chili (mild or medium), if anyone wants that tonight.

Not too sure how much longer I'm going to be able to stay awake. Woke up at 3:45 this morning, and it's been a looonnnng day.  Still need to get through emails.  Wonder if I'll manage to get through them all. You all have a good evening, stay warm and take care.

Evening all!

It was a pretty nice day here today, about 30 degrees and sunny.

Paula - It is a Ranch. Just cows and hay. We didnt work too hard, this time of year is usually slower than usual. Just feeding cows and getting ready for next season's hay. We are getting ready to get busy though, hopefully we will be getting a pivot put in on the big field at the end of February.

The siding part sure looks like one.  Looks like the one here did, except the front door was in a tiny porch and faced 90 degrees the other way.

Am I correct?

.....A good cell phone photo.  And in my opinion {just an interested person on the subject}, I believe you certainly are.

Edit:  I do wonder about the location of the entrance door....But it certainly could have been modified in that area and could have been added later by an owner.

If you can get enough sunshine and like us, have little to no snow around you, it can be very pleasant to be outside (Houston, are you listening?)

No snow there?  Interesting.  We're getting dumped on again as I type this.  I think you Nebraskanites need to blow harder in our direction to overcome the prevailing flow from Canada.

I think I saw Joe heading for the hammock for his nap.

Very sunny and 31 here - snow was forecast, but only flaked a little.

Possibility that just the distance between Lincoln and Omaha (roughly 50 miles) may mean the difference in weather systems.  Omaha says that they will be single digits rest of week, while Lincoln says 12 should be our coldest day and around 30 's.  Guess we will see how this all plays out by next weekend.

If you can get enough sunshine and like us, have little to no snow around you, it can be very pleasant to be outside (Houston, are you listening?)

Talking about filling the freezer from home, I used to room with girls from small towns around Lincoln and they would keep us supplied in meat they would bring from home.  It really helped out on expenses for us!

..........About 26 degrees and of course still dark.  No snow but expect some activity in the pm today...I did note yesterday we now will see the sun rise 1 min. earlier as of yesterday so we're on glide path to spring, just a bit long until we land though.

Word of another close friend and a member of our church family passed on last night at 10:50.  We visited at the hospital yesterday right after church....The lady had lost a daughter last summer and now her husband.

Scheduled Dr. appointment for me this morning to check if meds are working ok that we changed a couple months ago.

Then lunch with a neighbor friend....

Best to all for the new week.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  We are at 32, 33 degrees, depending where you live here in the Louisville area this morning.  Supposed to make it up to about 40.  Tonight, some people, especially north of the Ohio River, may see some light accumulation of snow by morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, blueberry muffins, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

RJ, sounds like you had a nice time this weekend.  Hope you didn't work too hard on the farm this weekend.  Or is it a ranch?  I know, from growing up, that either one is full of hard work, no matter.

Hope everyone has a good day, keep safe, take care, and see you all later.

Evening all!

Just returned home after a great weekend. I left Friday with my girl and we headed down to Myton, Utah to spend the weekend with my dad on the ranch. However we (my step mom included) didn't tell him we were coming. Spent Saturday working out on the ranch feeding the cows and horses and repairing some fences. But the real reason we went down was to pick up meat for the family. 600 pounds worth of ground beef. Everyone in my family now has literally no space left in their freezer.

It was about 30 degrees all weekend but It is supposed to get colder. Hopefully we get a little more snow in the next week. Snowshoeing class starts wednesday....

We're hearing about the same thing for later in the week.  It's only -2F here right now, and it's not even 8 PM.

Deggesty

High twenties with heavy overcast and no precipitation promised this morning. We had a few flakes of snow fall on us on our way to church, but none since. No precipitation is promised this week; only cold (twenties-thirties).

That's not cold, Johnny, that's BALMY.  They're telling us that Thursday our high won't reach ZERO.  NOW THAT'S COLD!Sad
