RJ - Against my better judgement I am going to show The Driver your photos.  He loves to fly fish in Laramie area and hasn't seen the rest of Wyoming.  So I will show him the pix and then listen to him suggest many times how he wants to go back to see more of Wyoming on a vacation.  Smile

Very nice!

Ref: "Leaving on a jet plane" was Peter Paul and Mary, not John Denver.

Actually, John Denver did write the song.  PP&M's version made it famous.

RJ, you've got some really nice pictures there!!  I hope the show goes well for you, and that you'll get several of your pictures sold!

Got some more steak burgers, etc., set out on the warmer bar for supper.  The cold sides are in the cooler.

I will try to get back in later; but, just in case I don't, everyone have a good evening, and take care.

RJ, I finally noticed the link and the others are right. Those are fabulous shots and you are to be congratulated for a job well done. Ref: "Leaving on a jet plane" was Peter Paul and Mary, not John Denver.

the day before I had to repair a frozen outdoor faucet that began leaking in the house. But best of all, I got my photography show hung at the White Mountian Library here in Rock Springs.

RJ.....I see you are contending with an outdoor faucet problem.....Don't know if it would have helped your situation, but here on our home we have 2 of them and each fall I cover them with special "insulated mittens" to prevent the cold from running back the pipe to the valve {inside the wall}, from freezing.  I fasten the mittens tight against the outside wall {brick}, with masking tape to make sure the cold air is sealed out from the outside spigot and pipe.  Seems to work as never have had a problem.

I went down to the plumbing supply house I used to work at and got a frost free faucet, installed it, then put a ball valve on the supply to it in the house. So I set it up so where in the winter, I  can open the outside faucet, and shut the water off in the house, avoiding the problem happening again. I knew that was was going to go, it was just a matter of time. I had to do the other on in the front yard 2 winters ago and did it the same way. I am slowly replumbing the whole house.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and well wishes. If you want to see what I chose, The program with pics is HERE

....Those are really nice photos.

Some favorites:  The view looking up stream and wild yellow flowers on either side.

The depot {or courthouse}.

The smokebox view with closeup of Mars and headlight.

RJ:  I was assuming you were dealing with a regular outside freeze proof spigot and valve {valve back in the wall about 2'}....But I use the mittens to provide a bit of insurance.

RJ, I like your display, although I couldn't make out much detail. I have a friend who is in to photography, and he is forever going to shows. His specialty is Amish culture and he's pretty good at it. All the best and congrats

Happy Birthday Bergie!!!

MC- I sure hope you aren't getting that windstorm we had here yesterday! It was sustained 60mph winds with gusts near 100. Many business signs were damaged, but as of yet no trees reported toppled. That kind of wind would certainly not help any range fire!

Today in the Red Desert we have about 30 degrees, sunny and calm. It sure is a good change from the below 0 temperatures we had last week!

Been a busy past few days for me, Was helping shore some trees up against the wind yesterday, the day before I had to repair a frozen outdoor faucet that began leaking in the house. But best of all, I got my photography show hung at the White Mountian Library here in Rock Springs.

 Have a great day everyone!

Yes, I also hope they get some rain or snow to help take care of the fire/fires out there.

On tap for today's meals:  steak burgers (didn't go to Steak and Shake, just went to the grocery and bought ground sirloin), baked beans, green beans, steak fries, cole slaw, salad, and for 'dessert', I'll make real milk shakes:  chocolate, vanilla, strawberry.

Our morning has been snow flakes and sunshine....and a cold start.  It's still just 17 degrees.  No storm system near.  To be clearing more as the day continues.  Sun is shining in my office window now.  So, think we're still lucky.

That grass fire{s}, out west sounds like it means business.  Hope some snow or rain might soon help stop it.

Dan - aren't those "older" engines nice to listen to?  Even the SD70's have a better whistle.  Some of the new ones are so shrill.

Is "Sprout" the official name?  Seems to me that you could come up with a little better name.  Something with drama - like Annabeautiful Sound or Atrain Cummins.....

Good morning and thanks for breakfast. 43 degrees and overcast this morning in Carolina. I don't remember the expected high, but it doesn't look like much. Mudbiddie, take care out there with that fire. As you say, some airborne moisture would help mightily and I shall pray that it be so. Everybody take care and stay safe and warm.

Happy Birthday Bergie!  Many returns!

Thought I'd pop in and take a break from lurking.  I've been busy getting the house ready for Sprout.  That and work...ugh.  At least I still have a job!

Someone in Canada sent me some BC Rail -9Ws recently.  They made for a nice break from the usual CN red/black/white.  I haven't seen many WC units lately though, which is a bit wierd.  I found out that the WSOR HOK (Oshkosh run) is now more nocturnal which makes pictures a challenge but I can hear GP38 whistles around sunset and later.  Makes me think of the 'old' days when CNW was around the area...

I'll be back to lurking again for a while...especially since I see how sharp Mookie's teeth are after the latest dentist visit!

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Mudchicken, wish we could send some moisture your way.  Unfortunately, around our immediate area we didn't get that much yesterday and overnight.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, juices, hot water for tea are ready.  And on the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

We have a new Chick Filet restaurant opening up in the east end, and people camped out the last 24 hours so they could be the first 100 people in line this morning, to receive coupons for free Chick Filet meals for a year.  As much as I like eating there, I would not have camped out for 24 hours.

On another note:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BERGIE!!!!!!Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day

Guess I'd better call Steak n Shake, and have them deliver some steak burgers & sides for Bergie's birthay

Um....Tree and a few of you other easterners...mind sending some of that moisture back here?

We seem to be on fire here again (Up on the north-east side of the Peoples Republic of Boulder)

The 60+ MPH winds (Chinooks) are not helping.

(the Asparagus out on the border are now smoked)

Mudchicken, wait; we will send you some moisture. We had a little dusting late yesterday, which may have helped you some by the time it arrived over the Front Range; we expect more tomorrow night and Friday morning, and there should be enough left after it crosses the Wasatch (the Back Range) and all the other ranges between us and you.

Several years ago, I had a good bit of dealing with a company in Colorado Springs, and the man I usually talked with would ask what weather I was sending him the next day.

There's been a few times lately that Mutt and/or I have had trouble getting on.  Will usually wait it out for a couple of minutes, and if it doesn't clear up, we wonder what is going on.  (Knocking on wood) So far, I think we're 'trouble-free' this week.

Got the next round of sloppy joes, burgers, cheeseburgers, etc., ready for tonight.  Hot things are on the warmer bar; cold things in the cooler.

You all have a good evening, enjoy your supper, and everyone take care tonight.

Brian, I am glad you are doing better.

About thirty this morning, up in the forties this afternoon with bright sunshine. Maybe we will have lots of snow melted in the valley before the next snow comes, tomorrow night. Tomorrow is to be colder in the morning and warmer in the afternoon.

This dog-sitting episode will come to an end tomorrow; the travelers returned safely last night.

A day or two ago, I had trouble getting into the cafe, there something about time expiring. I wonder if it was full and there would have been no place for me to sit.

Tree - I waved anyway.  I was downstairs watching my one hour of tv and pulled my warm blanket off about that time.  So it probably waved at her.  Also - our fire engine/truck went by at that time - in her honor, I imagine!  (out on an alarm - no fire)

Woke up to 4" of new snow, and the starter wouldn't catch on the snowblower (that's what I get for not fixing the pull rope over the summer).

Still, out of the driveway and on the road to the airport in plenty of time.  Roads bordered on miserable all the way down and all the way back.  Several accidents that I know of, including one involving two snow plows and three cars on the interstate.  I stayed away so have no details.

Hit freezing rain on the way down - some surfaces on the truck got a nice layer of ice.

And lots of just plain rain.

Hasn't rained here at home, so the snow may actually still be "blowable" by the time I get the snow blower started.

Gonna kick back for a few, then go fix the snowblower.

Mom's probably right about over Mookies area as I write this.  I forgot to tell her to wave, though.
