Good Monday morning.  We're at 29.5 degrees (reading on our indoor/outdoor thermometer) this morning.

Coffee, juices (oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple, apple, grape), hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, french toast, oatmeal (maple brown sugar & raisin & spice), bagels and bear claws.

Mudchicken, sounds like da boyz are really enjoying that box full of toys!  Our dog, Winter, only got one new dog toy for Christmas:  a  long green in color, dog toy, dressed as Santa.  She will hardly let anyone touch it.

Everyone have a good day, and please take care.

Brian: After reading about that thing, hope it leaves as mysteriously as it shows up (apparently does that a lot)....

On a lighter note, "Da Boyz" got a box full of stuffed toys with motion activated sounds for X-mas. It was a little unnerving to hear a quacking mallard duck for 10 minutes at 2am...(or to look out at the fresh snow by the dog door only to see a stuffed hedgehog looking back in)

Brian - sound serious.  Need to do some medical research on that.  Have a girlfriend that has to take Prednisone for an AI situation - she gets a cold sore and then breaks out in hives, all over her body.  She has to take meds to keep her outbreaks from happening.  Summer is especially bad for her.

I knew I didn't have that spelled right...

Thanks for all the well-wishes, guys and gals.

Tree:  what name do you give a dalmation?  Only name that comes to mind for me is....Spot....

You name it and a Dal has probably been called it.  The one in residence here was named "Angus" by his mistress.   Doesn't really matter what  you call him - he can't hear you anyhow.

Due to the relationship between Dals and the fire service, you'll often hear fire related names, like "Blaze" or "Smoky."

Made it over to Rochester and back in good shape, but didn't arrive home a moment too soon - that freezing rain is here now (we're almost due east of London, ON).  Just put some salt down on the driveway, but I don't think it's gonna be a real big factor.

The "Railroads" exhibition at George Eastman House in Rochester was OK.  Having seen a lot of Link's work, there weren't too many surprises there.  The Eastman collection of railroad prints had some interesting pieces.  The Cross videos were a mixed bag.  Imagine setting up  your video camera on a spot you knew would see a train, and letting it run for an hour, before, during, and after the train passed.  One video was of a train blocking a crossing.  I didn't stay there a long time, but looking at immobile cars while the crossing lights flashed and the bell rang wasn't terribly exciting.

The rest of the Eastman house is grand, and Mom enjoyed looking around.  The guy had some money.

Work tomorrow (Darn!).  Better start getting organized.

Brian, I am sorry to hear about your complication in life. My your doctor find something to control it even if nothing is yet known that will cure it. (I looked it up in wickipedia, and I did not really like what I found.)

Brian, I'm sorry to hear that you're in the hospital!  Please take care, and follow your doctor's orders.  Please get well soon!!!!

Well, I have supper ready:  turkey, dressing, shellie beans w/potatoes, onion, and diced tomatoes w/basil, garilic & oregano in them and dumplings (no chicken or turkey in them, just the dumplings).

I've been busy in the kitchen all day, so now I think I'll just rest awhile, until the others in the household are ready for supper.  Everyone, enjoy what's left of today, have a good,  safe night, and take care.

Well, Utah did it! My watching the game did not help Alabama for long. Dorothy (the strong Utah fan in our church) should sleep well tonight.

Johnny

I didnt get a chance to watch the game, but I hear it was a good one!

Good Morning All!! Well, Good afternoon! at 2:20 today it is a scorching 2 degrees F. I slept really late this morning and that was inpart because I just really wanted to sleep, and I was out late last night. Had a great night with my girl and her firends. We went to the local cowboy bar (Where I have never been before) and we shot some pool and me and my girl danced quite a bit. It was an amazing night and I had more fun that I have had in a long time. When we left though, it was 11 Below 0. It seems we are starting to get that true Wyoming Winter now.....

Get Well Brian!

IGN - go!  We went today and they are definitely running and worth watching.

Joe - Saw DE heading west - with snow on the head end.  Had he slowed down I could have made a snowball for you.....Mischief

Wish you well.  Not a fun thing to go thru.

Saw 2 70's and a GP38 doing some "sorting".  Wonder if the local ADM plant will get the cars when they get done and then the 38 will stay for spotting.  The 70's were both working and the 38 was silent.  Looked like a lot of power for what they were doing, but think maybe the 38 was just along for the ride right now.

Well, no one can refute my stories about what is going on at the edge of the yard, so I need to organize my thoughts and make up something that sounds logical.  Wish I knew for sure - but don't think that is going to happen!

Good afternoon, all-  posting this from a hospital room in CR with my laptop.  The ailment I mentioned the other day wasn't going away, so my doctor checked me in.  As near as they can tell, I have Sarcoidosis, which is an auto-immune disease that will require me to take Pregnazone.  Should be going home tomorrow, once all other possibilities are ruled out and they start me on that stuff.

Ughh.

Good morning and thanks for breakfast. 56 and overcast in Carolina this morning, headed for 61 and thunder. That means I gotta to unhook the wireless again! We had some very heavy fog last night, but haven't heard of any associated accdents. The wife was out in it and I was quite concerned. Everybody stay safe

Good morning. I thought we had it cold at eight degrees until I read Larry's post; we expect it to get up to about twenty today. At least, no snow since Friday night; we may have more Monday through Thursday.

Off to Bible study and then church in a little more than half an hour (thirty minute drive).

Keep warm.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  We're at a very pleasant 58(?) degrees F. this morning, looking for a high around noon in the low to mid 60s.  Then the temps will start to drop.  Right now, we're getting rain.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes w/plenty of maple syrup, and there's some cold pizza left from last night, also.

I hope you all have a very good morning, and for ones going to church, work, wherever, be careful and take care.

Ray - you can keep the freezing rain.

Cold here - ten above as I write this.  On the other hand, all of the stars are out and it's a beautiful, calm night.  A bit cold for the Dal - his feet are sensitive to the cold, especially if exacerbated by the salty slush at the side of the road.

Headed for Rochester tomorrow to see the rail photography exhibition at the Eastman House.  Should be interesting.

Good evening. I thought I would report in. I just got home from one of my part time jobs and the weather here today has not been to my liking. Early this morning we started getting a light drizzle here in Sioux Falls and it quickly froze. My sister ran me to work at Wendy's this morning, and one of the guys who drives a fuel delivery truck drove me the two blocks between Howes Oil Company and my front door. The parking lot at Howes Oil is like an ice skating rink right now, very slippery and treacherous. Hopefully it will warm up a bit here come tomorrow. Right now we have a temp of 10 degrees, and I don't think it had gotten much warmer than that all day.

CW, thanks much for putting our pizza dinner together tonight. I think I'll grab a couple slices of the Hawaiin pizza while I am in here.

While our dinner here at home is still in the oven (we may be eating around 8, 8:30 tonight), here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Goetta

4.  Hawaiian

5.  Pepperoni/mushroom

6.  Supreme

7.  Calzones (Italian sausage)

Dessert Pizzas:  1.  Apple;  2.  Cherry;  3.  Peach

Around 4 p.m., we had some rain; that has stopped, at least for now, at 5:43 p.m.

I hope you all enjoy the pizzas, and also wish everyone a very good evening.  Take care, you all.

With all due respect to all who have great pride in their teams and conferences involved in the BCS Bowl picture.

The SEC is standing 5  and 2 in post season play so far. South Carolina and Alabama did give brave performances. All the others, especially Vandy and Kentucky did great things even as teams that had a rough regular seasons. My  GA Bulldogs did good duty in Orlando with some green Spartans, Ole Miss I have to admit looked very good in the second half against a well thought of team known as Red Raider's,  as did LSU  against my favorite team to dislike (****) known to us from UGA as the North Avenue Trade School. (We thank LSU for keeping SEC honor alive after our less than fortunate outcome against the ACC's GA Tech Jackets)

With January 8 coming for all the marbles I hope Florida can make this a 6-2 matter for the record. If you think I am leading up to something, you would be right. The BCS system that is currently being used is in need of some re-engineering. Computers programs are not the place to decide matters best decided on the gridiron face to face. I would suggest a playoff system similar to the NCAA Basket Ball System. A separate thread would of course be in order, but I would rather have the feelings of the cafe before such a thing would be put in a railroad forum.//

PL

PS - Tommy M.---GA Tech is a great engineering school, but you knew that. - RA

PL, I had forgotten about that name for Georgia Tech. I have been well aware of the feeling between the North Avenue Trade School and the college over in Athens for many years; back in the sixties I saw several GT freshmen wearing beanies (I think that is what bore the sentiment) with the wonderful, to them, sentiment "to h--- with Georgia." Apparently, they had to be indoctrinated with the correct attitude. Did you hear one of the announcers commenting that the Yellowjackets did not have far to travel with the ignominy of their defeat, just a couple miles to North Avenue?

To me, the BCS idea has not been successful. I know that many people were not satisfied with having sportswriters, coaches, and a few others deciding the ranking of teams, but I believe that a playoff series would be exceedingly cumbersome. It is used for the smaller colleges, but I do not know the workings thereof.
