Joe, looks like we were both in at the same time.  Except I was in the back, and didn't hear you come in the door.  Thanks for making the coffee and juice.  Also, thank you for the cinnamon rolls.  Guess I'll put these doughnuts I brought in, up and we can have them in the morning.

Temps aren't too bad this morning:  42 degrees, should drop a degree or two in then next hour, hour and a half, then looking for a high of 49.  And, it's not too breezy out, either.

Joe, and anyone else doing any kind of traveling (whether long distance, or local errands, etc.), take care, and keep safe.   See you all later.

Speaking of college football, How did Missouri do in their bowl game? I would like to see what kind of football I can expect next season because that bowl game, was their Offensive Coordinator's last game with them. Next season Dave Christensen starts out as Head Coach for the University of Wyoming Cowboys. GO POKES!!!  And mark it on the calendar, the is the only time you will ever hear me say this, Go Utah, I hope they win on Monday night! I will Always root for a Mountain West team (Except BYU I can never sink that low) against a non MWC team.

Having trouble sleeping tonight, Thought I would stop in for a midnight snack....

UK Football is not televised as often as the basketball games,

so we don't get to watch as often.

And Yes, the UK Football Cats have done well this season,

they get to go to another "Bowl Game". (as players!)

(4th in a row?, 3rd anyway!)

Looks like the Huskers will be playing:  Florida Atlantic in 2009, Western Kentucky, Idaho, Washington and So Dak State in 2010, and Southern Miss for 3 years after that.  I will have to find someone on the forum for each of those states....Smile

Thanks for the cake, CW. The food on the warmer bar looks good, too.

Brian, I am sorry for Joe Pa. College football will lose a great man when he does retire. I would wish him a longer life in retirement than Bear Bryant enjoyed. Yes, overconfidence can certainly lose a game for you. Before the LSU-Fla game this year, at least one LSU player boasted of how they would take Tim Tebow out--and Tim took LSU out.

CW, don't you watch UK Wildcat football? They did much better this year than they had previously.

Johnny.

Wildcat football?  I lived in Lexington for 5 years and never once heard a local speak of that sport.  My son did his graduate work there.  A mention of UK football always gets a chuckle.

Of course, as of last week there isn't much mention of UW Badgers football around these parts, either.

A telling observation from the ESPN announcers for the Outback- they said the Gamecock practice sessions appeared to be "lackadaisical", but the Iowa practice sessions looked like a training camp.

Sounds like a classic case of overconfidence.  We know we're gonna win, so we don't have to try as hard.....

Okay, I'm not going to comment on any of the bowl games:  I don't watch football at all.  But, I will say:  to you whose teams won today, congrats.  To you whose teams lost, I'm sorry about that.  I know how I hate it when my UK Wildcats lose at basketball, and the Cincy Reds lose at baseball.

I've got the next round of roast beef, etc., on the warmer bar, and for dessert, I made two cakes:  one is chocolate w/chocolate icing, and the over is yellow cake w/white icing, and both are decorated for the birthday today, and the birthday from Dec. 13th, and we'll include Ed's birthday yesterday.

You all have a good evening, enjoy the food and take care.

Well, I'm happy for Iowa, but embarrassed about the way the other Big Ten teams have played.  It doesn't look like Joe Pa is going to get a win, either- which would've been great, since Iowa is the only team to have beat them thus far this season.

Mookie, I hope you have had a good rest  I am glad your team won. I have never supported Clemson, even though our school superintendent (both of his sons went to Presbyterian College) was a graduate, and several of the teachers, even though they were not graduates, supported it.

Tom, I am sorry, only because SC is an SE Conference team. I wonder if Steve Spurrier was ineffective in professional football because he relied on the faces he made to intimidate the opponents? His showing his feelings so strongly is the main reason that I have not liked him. I have long admired Joe Paterno and some others because they have kept their emotions under control during the play. I do not know how they have behaved in the locker room but their public image has been that of gentlemen in control.

Actually, I am not surprised. South Carolina has a history of making it to bowl games and then blowing it. Ref Steve Spurrier, I never have like him and still don't. Today didn't change my view.

Well, the Gamecocks showed that were not as game as believed today. So far, the SE Conference is three for four. The team that has surprised me this year is Vanderbilt; for several years I was wondering why they bothered to put men on the field--and now they made it to a minor bowl and won (even though their touchdown was a fluke).

Crash & Burn on track 7....Mookie Express has a flat tire today.  Alien Like Ray - couldn't stay awake last nite, so out at 10 pm.  Quiet neighbors got a little noisy around 11, fireworks at midnite, and parts of body sleeping soundly when brain was awake, so had to get up.  Not a lot of sleep last nite.

Uh - Iowa seems to be winning - so Brian gets the congrats.  Driver says we can watch Spurrier on sidelines making faces.  I don't think anyone in Nebraska is a big Spurrier fan.

Clemson looks pretty good against Nebraska right now.  But we are known for our comebacks (I hope)

Off to hammock - I need a good nap - or even a bad one.

Happy Birthday, Baberuth73!Happy B-Day Happy B-Day, and Happy Belated Birthday, Johnny!Happy B-Day ]bday]

Wish I had known about the birthdays, I'd have had a cake ready (went back to bed this morning, and woke up just before 11).  Maybe I can get one going, and have it baked, iced and decorated in time for supper tonight.

Roast, taters, carrots, etc. are on the warmer bar, along with green beans, broccoli, corn, and homemade/baked buttermilk biscuits.

Dessert for lunch will be Jell-O:  red w/sliced oranges in the Jell-O, and green Jell-O w/mixed fruit in it.

Everyone have a great afternoon, and take care.

I'm bringing along all sorts of Hershey chocolates, kisses, bars, Reeses, etc from my recent trip past Hershey, PA.. Gotta give most of it away. Can't afford the pounds. Snow is back here after the recent melt off. Back into the single digits. About 8" of new yesterday. The young ones are agitating to hit the slopes soon. Here comes winter...

Happy New Year and Eighth Day of Christmas to you all.

Happy birthday, Babe Ruth. DId your parents get the prize for the New Year's Baby?

I, also, have a birthdate near Christmas--13 December (and I have known two other people born the same day and year). Better yet, I was born on Friday.

Grampaw, I never did like Steve Spurrier when he was coaching the Gators, and I do not like him any better now, but he is coaching a SE Conference team, so, "GoGamecocks!"

Time to get upstairs and watch the game.

I had nothing to do with it!  Cool

Sunny here this morning, but warm isn't in the weather report.  Cleared all the registers in the weather station last night (We had 35.42" of rain last year, according to my rain gauge), and this morning the low temperature is showing as -7.7 degrees.

That said, a hearty Happy New Year to one and all!  May your resolutions last longer than a day or two, and may you, and all around you, enjoy a healthy and prosperous year.

Happy New Year to everyone in the FWC!

I didn't go out last night, as I've been dealing with a mysterious ailment the past couple of weeks.  I get tired easily and suffer a low-grade fever, and lately my wrists and ankles are swollen and sore.  I visited my doctor yesterday, and she thinks I may have a systemic case of Strep or a viral arthritis.  Blood tests are in process, but in the mean time she's put me on Amoxicillin and Ibuprofen.  So far they seem to be helping.

Off to watch a certain football game (GO HAWKS!  Apologies to the South Carolina fans here, but you're gonna lose...)

Good morning, and Happy New Year to everyone out there! Currently, we have 22 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and I don't know if it will get much warmer than that. I did not stay up late last night to watch the new year arrive, I've been doing some major house cleaning here, and having spent the bulk of my time yesterday working with my kitchen, I was pretty well shot and ready for bed by 9:00. I have to work a 4.5 hour shift at Wendy's today, which I will not mind doing, I need the hours.

I know I'm a day late with this, but Happy Birthday to Ed Blysard! I hope your day was a good one. Happy B-DayHappy B-DayHappy B-DayHappy B-Day
