Joe, thanks for refilling the Gatorade container!!

The rain has left our area.  Tom, not sure if it was heading east towards you, or if it was heading south of us.  I honestly can't remember what I read and heard on the news.

On our lunch/supper menu today:  Mexican Fiesta Day

Tacos, beef burritos, beef & bean burritos, beef burritos enchilada style, enchiladas, quesadillas, Spanish rice, tamales (all of the above served mild, medium or hot), non-alcoholic margaritas (regular and strawberry), and the staple of tortilla chips w/salsa or con queso

We just heard on the news that Ken Griffey, Jr. has agreed for the Reds to trade him to the Chicago White Sox.  I thought all trades had to be accomplished before the All Star game.  Or, did they change the rules on that, where a player/players could be traded anytime  during the season?!?!

....My day is starting with thick fog....very low ceiling....Almost down to the ground.  73 and this weekend we're to get hot for our area...95, etc....It sure knows how to do that around here and with humidity too.

Still need some rain.  Indiana did get some yesterday, but not this part.

Best to all for a good day.

Good morning all...I am in Cleburne, TX this morning where it is already 82F on its way to 100F.  I am here for business reviews and will not get to stop by the old AT&SF shops as I am not alone, but would very much like to do so some day.

Good morning Paula. Currently 76 already in Carolina on the way to 95 and thunderstorms. I guess that I will have to go out in the heat, cause I have a sick puppy to get to the vet and for her, I'd do anything. everybody stay cool

Good Thursday morning, everyone! I was awakened sometime during the night, by thunder & lightning.  Did not look at the clock by the bed, so have no idea what time it was.  I just got up, turned the window fan off, and went back to bed.  Supposed to have some more rain this morning, tapering off, by sometime this afternoon.  Made for good sleeping the rest of the night.

Jess, sorry to hear about the tornado.  Downed trees are a lot better than lost lives.  And, since you didn't mention that, I 'm assuming that no one was injured or killed from the tornado?  If anyone was injured, I'm hoping it was just minor cuts.

Fresh juices, coffee, tea, lemonade, etc., are ready this morning.  Cereal boxes are lined up on the counter, so select your favorite, and have a good morning.

The other day we had our 1st tornado in our town for as far back as the old timers can remember, it destroyed 1 home and damaged 50 more so bad that they will have to be rebuilt before the families can move back in.

I never thought I'd see the day that Ossipee NH would get struck by a tornado, it did bring down a lot of dead trees on my land but nothing like the rest of the town, what a disaster area it is here.

I'll spend a lot of my off time helping my good neighbors clear their land, patching roof shingles and what ever they need, most of my neighbors are elderly and could use the free help I'm sure.

May everyone here stay well and safe.

happy Rails, OH, and yes your correct, I'll be turning 48 this Saturday so I'll need a few good guys and gals too help me blow out all those candels....hee hee hee!!!

Good afternoon, everyone.  Been kind of busy around the house today, so just now getting in here.  Jess, welcome back!  It has been awhile since you've been in.  Glad to know you're doing all right.

People, I need your help in refreshing my memory:  I know we have a fellow forum viewer with a birthday coming up Friday, August 1st, and Jess, if I remember correctly, your birthday is Saturday, August 2nd.  Are there any more August birthdays we have around here?  If so, let me know, so I can put them on my Birthday Calendar.

Since it's so late in the day, think I'll just post the supper menu now (just in case I get preoccupied, and forget at the regular time):

1.  open-faced roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, green beans or broccoli w/cheese sauce,

2.  hamburgers and cheeseburgers w/your choice of fries or onion rings, cole slaw or garden salad

3.  beef noodle casserole w/corn on the cob and fresh sliced homegrown tomatoes, and any of the above mentioned other side dishes

No storms yet, but we did get a really good shower this morning.   Did hear a few thunderboomers, but never saw any lightning.  And power stayed on.

....Another seemingly hot summer day under way.  74.8 now and rising.  A bit cloudy and a chance of rain.  But pretty bright so no rain yet for a while.  We really can use some rain, even though I heard them say we were up by almost 12" over normal now.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Mookie, either it was something Great Grandma said, or Gramps was making funny faces at her, behind the camera!!Laugh [(-D]  Seriously though, Larry, those are some great pictures!  And your mom looks great.

Mookie, if you're still around in here, I've got the coffee ready, along with fresh made juices, lemonade, tea, and here's what I've got for breakfast this morning:

whatever kind of cold cereal you want, bacon, eggs, sausages, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapefruit, muffins, bagels and bear claws.

You all have a great morning, and try to stay as cool as possible, and keep safe, whatever you do today.  I know sometime later this morning, rain is to be back in our area.  Just hope it's not any severe storms.

As promised -

Granddaughter with her great grandmother, who turned 82 today:

And here she is enjoying her first visit to her high chair:

Don't let that beaming smile fool you - if she isn't getting something she wants (chiefly her bottle), she will let you know, loud and clear.

It is kind of cute how she rolls that lower lip out to warn you that she's not happy with how things are going, though....

Safely ensconced at home for a while, until the excursion to SE Michigan for the reunion.  Good drive back - light traffic and mostly clear skies.  Hit a little rain south of Syracuse, but it wasn't a problem.

Gotta get some pictures ready to share.  I'll try to get one or two in here later.

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Joe, thanks for getting breakfast this morning.  Just couldn't seem to make it in here this morning, before Tuesday Produce.  We had 105 people, and they brought us:  cabbage, broccoli, cantaloupe, cucumbers, pole beans,  green peppers and strawberries.

Mudchicken, our thermometers aren't stuck, but the temp readings on them are sure creeping up and up.  (I'll see if I can get my knees to work right, and do a rain dance, o.k.?)  Or maybe we should contact Jesse Red Horse up in New Hampshire, for that!  He might have better luck than me, doing a rain danc!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

For lunch and supper today:

1.  corned beef and cabbage

2.  grilled pork chops w/the fresh green (pole) beans from Produce this morning

3.  meat loaf w/mashed taters & gravy

Other side dishes will be:  slice green cucumbers, sliced tomatoes,  sugar beets, spinach, broccoli w/cheddar cheese sauce, and corn.

Desserts today:  fresh strawberry short cake w/whipped cream, ice cream (all flavors including strawberry), and fresh-from-the oven chocolate chip cookies, and oatmeal raisin cookies.

You all enjoy and have a great afternoon.

Well, haven't been back home but about and hour and a half, or so.  Sarah & I took our new cat to the vet for his shots and everything, and he's staying overnight, so he can be neutered.

Stopped and picked up supper for the Cafe:

1.  open-face turkey w/mashed taters & gravy

2.  fish & shrimp combo w/fries and cole slaw

3.  fried chicken w/baked beans, cole slaw and mashed taters w/gravy

You all enjoy your supper, and have a good evening.  Keep cool, dry and safe.  (That will encompass whatever weather conditions you are experiencing.)

Warm one here in MD today - at least until a fairly substantial line of thunderbumpers rolled through.

Hitting the road tomorrow.  Hoping for some decent roads and clear weather.

CW - maybe it is a truly burning bush....it would do that here - hot and humid.  Then it would curl, too!

Sir C - I think I have a memo somewhere here on my desk that sez something about replacing Lurch with a Prius/with a sun roof?

BNSF is having some kind of hot weather sale.  We stopped about an hour or so - right before and right after the lunch hour.  They were running (out of 6 tracks )- 3 several times and 2 several times.  Then lots of singles.  About the time we figured the humidity was getting a little steep, they would run another coal train.  No freight - just coal.  So figure they must be having a sale somewhere.

Saw a KCS in the circus colors.  And they were hostling a fairly long airplane train, out and back into the yard.  Nothing was on the usual flat cars, but lots of longer than usual "houses" that could have had shackles in them for all I could see.  Our usual airplane trains are maybe 3 bodies and 3-5 little short look-like tool houses.  These today were longer and lots of them.

Well, at least BNSF was movin' their tail feathers - unlike the couple watching.

How did/is the race going/go?
