Heading down to Albany, GA, with an interplant transfer for Millercoors, certain beers only get brewed at certain plants, they need this load to fill out some orders.

Should be in later, before headiing out in the morning to tackle Monteagle at a high rate of fuel consumption (should burn about three or four gallons pulling that hill......)

Randy 3 or 4 Gal to climb Monteagle? It is only 3 miles from the parking area at the bottom to the rest area.

Know what you mean bout APU's. My company is not putting them last years trucks(like mine) Not real happy bout this either.

By the by temp her in Atlanta is hot & humid. At least right now my truck is at freightliner getting factory recalls installed. So this wkend I get a motel(with a swimming pool!).

Enjoy Albany I think it's gonna be hotter & more humid.

Hi Randy!  Long time no see.  Stay cool

Ign - you can get all the ice tea and ice cream you can hold.  And at no cost, either.  Just requires a very good imagination!  Smile [:)]

Went hunting today.  This may not mean a lot to most of you, but a few of you will know:

Saw a BNSF Gp38 and a Gp39-E, a CEFX (but they are becoming pretty commonplace around here) a circus wagon - new KCS engine.  (that is truly an (ahem) eye-opener), a BNSF SD60 and an ELMO.

After a month or more of not so much as a switch engine for long periods of time, they were really busy today.  Lots of freight and lots of coal.  And that old SW10 or SW15 - I didn't see it, but I heard it!

A nice day to be out hunting!  And only carried a newspaper, a book and a magazine!

Well... another lovely Nebraska day. We had a nice strong cold front move across the area yesterday evening. I'm not sure that I've ever seen such a quick drop in dewpoints. At 11:00 PM, the dewpoint was 70 degrees, at 2:00 AM it was 42 degrees. The high temperature today was 79 degrees and the humidity stayed low, so it was quite nice. Tomorrow looks nice too, so maybe I'll do some train watching, since I have the day off.

Have a nice evening, everyone.

Ms Mook - City near here just had a fire in a duplex.  Cause: Cooking...

Nice day at the French Festival, if hot.  Only a few heat related cases, and nobody had to go to the hospital.  Stocked up on "French" pastry to share with the train crew on Sunday.

Raining now - and still in the mid 70's at 11pm.  Thunderbumpers definitely a possibility overnight.

Gotta get my rest.  Workin' on the railroad Sunday.

And a good Sunday morning to everyone out there! The coffee here is about finished brewing and I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice. Breakfast this morning will consist of bacon and scrambled eggs, buttermilk pancakes with hot maple syrup, french toast and I made a pan of cinnamon rolls earlier this morning. Chef [C=:-)] And Mookie, I got your coffee cup down out of the cupboard for you.

It cooled down here in Sioux Falls nicely during the night, and the last time I looked we had a temperature of 55 degrees. Today it is supposed to warm up to about 83. I am just hoping that the humidity today will not be so gawd-awful like it was on Friday.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

Afternoon

we had a good day today.mookie auglaize village is like sauder village here in nw ohio. Its a nice short trip where you can spend time and not go very far.The admission today was by donation so we donated our $$ to the railroad program. They want to rebuild a narrow gauge industrial steam engine and have it run at the park.On the way home we watched some bnsf units going back home. One unit is fading to pink as it was leading an empty coal train.Going to grab some supper then have to get ready for work tonight.

Joe:  Sounds like a good time and $$$ well spent.

I won't get to watch for the "pink lady" since won't get trackside until end of week.  But have noticed a little increase in traffic.  We seem to have a pattern here - run during nite and early morning - during cool time: siesta during heat of day and just before the 3:55 pm off duty, run like mad for a little while.  Works for me!

Why can't these dumbos be careful with cigarette butts ? I've been a pipe smoker for 45+ years, but I am always careful with matches etc. Saw some halfwit the other day throw a cigarette (unextinguished) out of his car window.

Finished off supper tonight with a large slice of Black Forest gateau - sorry folks, didn't save you any.

Hello everyone!  Sure is nice to be back, after not being able to get in for a couple of days!  Joe and Ray, thank you both for taking care of the meals over the weekend.

Mutt and I called and talked with JHH a little while ago:  to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, since today is his birthday.    He is doing all right.  And could hear Duchess barking in the background:  she was wanting to go out for her walk.

Hope you all have had a nice weekend, and also hope you have a great evening!

Good morning. Where is everyone? I've got the coffee brewing and the orange juice is ready for pouring. I've brought in a generous assortment of rolls and donuts from the Sunshine bakery. Otherwise I will leave breakfast up to CW or someone else.

Stay cool, stay safe.

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Ray, I tried to get in earlier, but couldn't get in.  And, your breakfast sounds pretty good to me this morning.  The only things I'll add are sausage, eggs, and homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

Joe, sounds like you're going to have a busy day.  Hope you manage to get a good nap in, before work tonight.

Does anyone have any requests for our lunch and supper tonight?  If so, I'll try to get it all prepared in time.  You all have a good morning, and take care.

Not to mention human destruction. One of my friends from school was badly burned last week due to a fireworks accident.

CW - I was wondering if you could do chicken cordon bleu for supper? That be nice to have after I get back from work this afternoon. Arby's actually has a chicken cordon bleu sandwich, but I would much rather eat a good homecooked version of it.

Fireworks may also prove the undoing of a fire department (to remain unnamed, although it is in the news, and it's not mine), after video surfaced of members shooting off fireworks inside their station....

Damp day on the railroad Sunday, but things went well and we had reasonable patronage.  Got in three more trips toward making conductor.  Also had a first - we had another train that needed to use the same siding we use for our runaround at the "out" end of our trips.   They were coming in from the other direction.  Rather than issue multiple "Form D's", the dispatcher opted to place the section of track including the passing siding "out of service."  That meant that the "employee" holding the OOS track could give permission to use it without going through the dispatcher.  It worked well, and saved us all a lot of paper work.  The cool part (if you will) was that the track was out of service in charge of me - a first.

Looks like a decent week, weather wise.  Still got lots to do on the guest room, so I'll stay busy after work.

Something simple for lunch and dinner.

Dennis - I am sending you a PM.

Tree - congrats on new responsibility.  How much longer now before you are officially there?

Willy - saw it happen in the 50's.  Nothing has changed.

Sunny and hot - must be summer?

Ten trips down, fifteen to go, assuming nothing untoward happens in the meantime.  Generally three trips each day I work, so five more workdays.

Calendar-wise, probably early September, unless I double up some weekends.I've got a lot going on in late July and early August that will keep me off the railroad.

That'll put me right on time for the fall colors rush.

In other rail news - I may get a chance to shoot an old air-operated Jordan spreader in operation this week.   Just waiting for the call and trying to figure out what story I'll tell my boss as I rush out of the building.  One of the crew members wants me to get some video with his camera, so I'll be able to get up close an personal...

Willy, you're getting your wish:  here's today's lunch and supper menu:

1.  chicken cordon bleu

2.  beef noodles w/mixed veggies

And for dessert:  chocolate cake w/white icing, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and the following cobblers:  apple, blackberry, blueberry, cherry, and peach.

Everything is on the warmer bar a little bit early:  just got a phone call from the library, and have a couple of books that were on reserve, that have come in.  So going to go pick them up, and drop off a couple of books I've read, and also donate a couple of books to the library.

I remember a time during the mid 70's when a fireworks distributorship went up in flames at a location a few miles south of Sioux Falls. I think it was caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette butt.

I was just on the phone with the manager of one of our Culver's restaurants, the same individual who had interviewed me this past Friday afternoon. He told me that Culver's Empire Mall store wants to hire me! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] I called this store in particular and arranged to meet with "Amanda" the hiring manager this coming Wednesday. I can do this with ease because I will have the day off from my job at Wendy's. When I meet with Amanda though, I am going to ask her if she can garrantee me 25 hours per week.

I hate going from "is summer ever going to arrive/will it ever stop raining" to "is it ever going to rain?"

I've just replenished the warmer bar for tonight, and added some fresh sliced homegrown tomatoes, and if you want, there's cottage cheese to go with the tomatoes.  (Never did acquire a taste or like for cottage cheese, though.)

Joe, got your container ready for work, with a little bit of chicken cordon bleu, and beef and noodles w/mixed veggies.

Willy, thank you for your suggestion of the ccb.  I'll have to remember to add that periodically to the Cafe menu.

Ray, hope everything goes well with your next interview Wednesday.

You all have a great evening.  Looks like another good day on tap for tomorrow.  Humidty is down, and a high in the low to mid 80s for tomorrow.
