Mutt - I "browsed" through a birdie book (field guide) and an iced latte at the bookstore.   Had breakfast at our favorite truck stop.

Driver gave me a card many years ago with a covered wagon on the front and a couple sitting on the seat - inside it said "Ate out again, it was good!"  That's my Saturdays!

And the renovations continue.  Got three of the four closet doors cleaned up and poly'd.  Ran out of both stripper and sandpaper on the last one, so it'll have to wait a day or so until I can find time to restock.

It's looking pretty good.  Don't know if I'll have all the 'little' details done in time, but by and large, it's coming together.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Warm here this morning, with a temp of 80 degrees.  Supposed to have a high of only 95 today.  Not really any chance at all of any rain until sometime tomorrow, I believe.

If anyone wants to try out for American Idol, come on to Louisville, if your between 16 and 28 years of age.  People have been in a line to sign up since Friday night, and they will continue to sign people up until 8 a.m. tomorrow (Monday, 7/21/08), when they start the auditions.

Cannonball, bet you and Shirl are really looking forward to your trip.  At that time in October, you should see quite a bit of autumn color in the trees.  And, it shouldn't be so darn hot, either!!

Coffee is ready, along with oj, oj-tangerine, pineapple juice, apple juice and grape juice, iced teas, hot water for hot tea and milk.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  pancakes, waffles, turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, fried taters, and homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, cantaloupe and watermelon.

Larry, sounds like things are coming right along for you on your project.

Enjoy your breakfast, and have a great morning.

Ah, it good to be home.....

Home for a week or so for vacation, spending most of it helping out at our county fair which starts wednesday, was down there yesterday helping put on some final touches.

Supposed to be warm and humid today, with rain later.  Humidity supposed to drop after monday, and stay low for most of the week. Will grab something light, then off to the fairgrounds for more prep work and cleaning.

See everyone later.

...Finally, able to get to this web site....Could not a few hours ago...it would "time out" and not connect.  I have this happen every once in a while....I'm just assuming perhaps it's a maintenance issue with the site but haven't heard anyone else comment of the same situation.  Anyway, it pulled right up at this try....and that's the way it's reacted in the past too.

Agree with C W.....This will be a hot one, if storms don't cool it all down a bit.  We're to have a chance of PM weather in spots here in central Indiana today.  Had a half inch in a quick downpour mid afternoon yesterday.  Didn't last long but it sure did rain in the short time it passed thru....

Randy, enjoy your 'vacation'!  And have "Fun fun fun" at the fair!!

Quentin, we've clouded up a few times this morning, but haven't even received a drop of rain.  It's only a very small chance for today/this afternoon/evening, so it's anyone's guess if we actually do see something come of it.  Should be a better chance sometime tomorrow, and most likely Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sunday Dinner menu:

1.  Beef roast w/potatoes and carrots, cole slaw, green beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, corn, slightly sweetened baked cornbread.

2.  Taco salad,

Desserts:  all the regular items on the dessert menu:  chocolate cake, pies, cobblers, ice cream, homemade oatmeal cookies (sorry, didn't have any raisins on hand to put in the cookies.)

Dear Tree:  When you finish at home, I think we need a new rest room in the diner - you know - a place for my hammock.  No handyperson goes unnoticed in this place!

Q - I get locked out every so often and figure it is for just cleaning out the cobwebs.  Hotmail does it too.

Hi Randy - county fair sounds like fun.  Haven't been to one in many years.

CW - I think cold pizza sounds good this am.  Let's see - pizza, chocolate milk, a little dunking....

Ah!

It's very hot and MUGGY here in Sioux Falls right now. We have 93.5 degrees, it wasn't supposed to get any warmer than 86 this afternoon.

Mookie, have you ever come to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Sioux Empire Fair?? Our fair week begins Tuesday morning, August 5th, and runs through Sunday, August 10th. My HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society has been an integral part of the Sioux Empire Fair since 1965.

The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is located on the north end of the W.H. Lyon fair grounds, and directly west of the old national Guard armory. And Mookie, if you show up and ask for me, I would be most pleased to meet you and I would give you a tour of our club's layout. The same invitation I extend to everyone who is reading this forum!

Ray - We went through Sioux Falls about 5 years ago when we were on our way to Bemidji to see my daughter and family.  I think we stopped for the night there.  Didn't do much looking around since we had a destination and didn't want to spend the time.  As I remember tho, what I saw was very nice.

Lots of places I want to visit, but oil companies seems to be keeping me from going.

Maybe another trip to the north country some day......and this time I will stop and see!

At the rate I'm going, your hammock room should be done in, say, 2011.......

WET.  That was today in railroading.  Poured most all day, and seemingly especially if we had to be outside of the train.  Of course, more than a few folks were heard to say that it was a good day to ride the railroad, since they couldn't do outside stuff.  (We're grateful for the customers!)

On the other hand, my hair is now nice and silky, after that rainwater rinse....Big Smile [:D]

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Doors were locked this morning, so just now getting in here.

Coffee and hot water for hot tea are ready; juices this morning:  orange juice, oj/tangerine mix, pineapple, apple, and grape juice.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  cereal, toast, turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws.

Been up 2 and a half hours already this morning.  Have the first load of clothes in the washer, and will get the second load in as soon as this one is finsihed.  Want to get the laundry done and over with, before it gets too hot, and the storms come back into the area.   Supposed to get up to 96 again today, and it's humid, humid, humid around here.

Does anyone have any special requests today for lunch and supper?!?!?!

.....No rain yet, but the humidity is making up for whatever else we don't have and even that is brewing, we're at 81 now.

Wanted to continue trimming shrubs but the humidity and I don't get along very well.

Edit:  I look over at the post count and we've arrived at 409....Anyone remember those street runners.....Didn't have a 409 but did have the 348 version and factory 3 - 2's....A convertible.  Top end it would fly.

Tom and Mookie, using your suggestions for lunch and dinner:

1.  Beef stroganof, big salad, and garlic breadplenty of iced tea (unsweetened & sweetened)

2.  Tuna melt casserole w/peas and carrots

Got the last load of laundry in the dryer.  Looks like I may beat the heat and the afternoon chance of storms after all!!

Rainy here (again).  Not a problem.

Another forum I'm on had a member ask for songs about transportation.  He got plenty, and 409 was just one of a number of "surf" group songs that showed up on the lists.

I'll second the salad - chef's style - plenty of turkey, ham, and cheddar cheese...

Ms Mook - after letting all the hot out of the boxes in January, we can just fill them up with cold and let that out in July!
