Tom - Thanks for brunch!

Supposed to be warm-ish here today, and thunderbumpers are in the forecast through Sunday or so.  No biggie - tested the raincoat last weekend and it worked just fine.

Still toiling on the new guest room.  Almost all of the paint is on the walls and I got the doorframes stripped last night.  Still have to get and cut some trim boards and a couple of rugs, get the bed assembled, and do the final clean up.

Also have to spit shine the house - Mom's coming for a visit (which is why I have to finish the guest room!)

....Oil pricing dropping for the 3rd day in a row and the Stock Market is inching back a bit.....Actually a little bit better than "inching" yesterday.  Wonder if we may have hit "the bottom".....What are some of the member's thoughts out there.....?  If so, wouldn't that be great....!

The markets tend to respond quickly to the purveyors of doom and gloom.  Mention that a pump station was going to be shut down for routine maintenance and the price of gas shoots up 5 cents at the pump....

Of course, if the maintenance is cancelled the price doesn't seem to go back down as quickly.

Methinks things will turn around when the markets start thinking about next month instead of the next 10 minutes.  That, and we can muffle the purveyors of doom and gloom...

....Yes, wild swings in the Market now seem so fickle, but think I'll go and pull up a graph  of say....the past year and that should give us a better idea in it's "trend".....That is what I'm looking for....Trend...Forecast.

Markets should be reflecting 6 to 9 mos. ahead and not the every day blips.  Guess that might be what a long range graph might have visible.

Larry, wonder if there are enough muzzles to put on all the purveyors of doom/gloom?  Sure would be nice to put muzzles on them, wouldn't it?!?!

Since we have enough leftovers from Tom's big cooking spree this morning (thanks again, Tom!), I've got a pork roast in the Crock Pots for supper tonight.  The sides with the roast will be:  shellie beans w/bacon cut up in them, mashed taters & gravy, slaw, and for dessert, there'll be Tom's cake and a small chocolate cake w/chocolate icing.  Plenty of ice cream, too along with some orange sherbet.

Sounds good.

A building down the street got a fresh coat of white paint this week, and now it is covered by a dozen or so Banded Alder Borers. Big bugs that don't bite, and I've never seen them before.

Dale:  They look like our box elder bugs.  Also don't bite, just kinda ugly.  I am going to have to investigate that site.  Looks interesting and I have always been a little buggy and butterfly-ie.

....J:

Whatever kind of investment folks are dealing with now can't be easy to look at....Might be a few exceptions.

Suppose we can hope it {this crisis}, will eventually come to an end too as they have before.....Look at the market on a graph that stretches it out over decades and the average trend has always been up.....Your money {you put in now}, buys more too.....just waiting to reap the benefits when it {hopefully}, heads back up.

Now wouldn't it be nice if it would soon start doing that.....like it's been doing these last few days.

Q - we were just making some strides in our 401's and then the forced retirement for me and the big minus sign on both.  I need at least another 40 years for this to even out....

Joe - poo - lemonade makes my teeth itch.  If I get enough sugar in it to actually drink it, I go into a coma.

Saw a Kawasaki motorcycle (an expensive one) try to bite a tire on an SUV.  SUV 1, motorcycle and rider 0.  He is injured, but not enough to call medical.  Just saw the aftermath - motorcycle will need new mirrors and anything that stuck out farther than the gas tank.  Ouch!

heavy dew out there right now, but mostly heading up to pound on Willy's door.

CW, I think we need old-fashioned sodas.  Not the "soda" in a can - the ice cream/fizzy water kind - with whip cream and cherry on top - Strawberry for me, please!

Mookie, I'll get started on the old fashioned sodas while everyone eats supper.  Along with the roast tonight, we have the shellie beans w/onion and cut bacon pieces, and mashed taters w/gravy, and your choice of cole slaw or garden salad.  Desserts are the red velvet cake, chocolate cake, and the old fashioned sodas.

Everyone have a good evening, and try to stay as cool as possible!

Joe, your container is ready and in the fridge for work tonight, next to a large jug of lemonade for you.

Q and Tree:  Well, another rain storm and another fire.  This time a one story medical bldg.  Lightning hit roof and poof.  I wonder if the city fathers will consider all these fires as urban renewal?  This is getting very $$$$!

Thanx CW - I love a good "real" soda.....

And on another note - went on an interesting train chase today.  Speed was not necessary.  In fact, I'd have chased it even more but I ran out of time (I had another hour to kill but the train was deep in the woods).

See the Dinosaur thread....

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Going to be another 3H day around here, with an air quality alert in place.

Coffee, iced tea, hot water for hot tea, oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple and grape juice are all ready to go this morning.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  cinnamon rolls, muffins, danish, and doughnuts of all kinds:  cake, glazed, chocolate covered long johns, chocolate covered doughnuts w/ cream, doughnuts w/vanilla icing on them, and vanilla pudding inside, bagels and bear claws, and there's fresh cantloupe, watermelon and pineapple slices.

You all enjoy your breakfast, and have a good morning.

Someone else that likes chocolate!  Tom will be ok as long as he doesn't hit the chocolate cake too often.  Been known to mash a finger or two if it was between me and utopia.

Q - we are a college town, but have a mix of generations.  The apartments were mostly the younger generation that are now more experience!  We did have an older gentleman that used gasoline to clean some items, got it on his coveralls and threw them in the dryer to dry them.  Kinda ended up drying the whole house!

We have gone years w/o major fires and now a whole spate of them.

Joe - I may get to watch fishing live this afternoon.  A cooler day, so I am sure an outing is in the offing.

CW - tangerine juice.  Hmmm.  Might have to taste that!

Happy Friday.

It's a wonder we don't get into the same situation here Jen.....Our population increases about 20,000 during the school year from the students at Ball State Un.  But it's really not too bad with that problem.

Wow....The coveralls in the dryer....Not to savy...!

We're now at 74 degrees here in Muncie land, and that too means....HOT today.  Our instrument registered 93 plus yesterday plus the humidity made it "stay inside if poss."...But we love the nice sunny week.  Our county fair is ongoing this week.  We're the county seat and the Fair Grounds are right inside of our little city and pretty nice.

You all have a nice day on this TGIF.....I have to look at my watch to determine that it is anymore....

Hello everyone.  Sorry I've been so scarce this afternoon.  Been fighting with the computer, and don't really know if anything is resolved or not.   Will just have to wait and see.

Here's our Friday Fish Fry menu:

Cod, Perch, Shrimp, Rainbow trout, widemouth bass, walleye, and Jumbo shrimp.

Regular sides of corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw.

Desserts tonight:  Plenty of chocolate cake (especially for Tom, Mookie, Dennis, and the rest of us chocolics, including yours truly), and the following pies:  apple, blueberry, cherry, peach and chocolate.  Also ice cream to go on top.

Everyone have a great evening, and who knows, I may pop in myself, later on.

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Another hazy, hot and humid day ahead.  We have a 20% chance of rain around 6 p.m. tonight.  Wonder if we'll get it.  (Mookie, talk about a mystery!)

Coffee is ready, along with hot water for tea, fresh iced tea (sweet & unsweetened), lemonade, oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple, grape, and apple juice are all available this morning.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, hash browns, eggs (however you want them), buttermilk pancakes, oatmeal, toast, bagels, bear claws, cantaloupe, watermelon, cinnamon rolls,  country fried steak & country fried pork chops and grits.

You all enjoy your brunch, have a good, safe day, and come back around 6, 7 p.m. for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

.....It looks like hazy, hot for us too today....76 plus right now, so that's a good start.  Possible shower but the % is low.

Last day for our county fair....they sure had a good warm, dry week for it.  It has run annually now for over a hundred years.

Well, we seem to be having computer problems today.  Browser problems.  May not be able to be back in later.  So, I've made up the pizzas for tonight, and they're in the freezer.  All one of you has to do is put them into the oven, in case Mutt and I are unable to get in this evening.
