Good evening everyone.

Gawd, good thing you're not in the Sacramento, CA area in the past few days. The smoke from the Butte County fires north of us are so intense at times that yesterday, I nearly keeled over from the smoke and 107° F. temperatures whenever I walked outside! Dead [xx(] That was the worst breathing conditions I've experienced in many years.

Also, I've been having serious air conditioning problems lately, not a great idea with the hot temperatures recently! Dead [xx(] Fortunately, I asked someone at where I worked what caused my problems, and from that information I had a repair person come out and take a look at the air conditioning coils inside the furnace unit. Essentially, the whole A/C coil unit was completely iced up, and that caused the air conditioning to not blow air frequently. The repair person had to chip away at the ice, then asked us to run the furnace in heater mode to melt away the rest of the ice. He was then able to clean the coils and recharge the refrigerant, and now the air conditioning works great! Cool [8D]

Low refrigerant will ice up the coils and compressor. If the compressor goes, it is better to get a new unit.... Mine died last summer during the hot spell and we like to have perished to death until a new unit was installed. At present, things are cool on the Pettibone Plantation.

My stepdad was asked by the repair person when was the last time the coils were cleaned and I found out it was over five years ago! Shock [:O] The repair person said a dirty coil can cause this type of ice buildup and the coils should be cleaned at least once a year.

I typically go through each of our A/C units twice a year.  Once at the beginning of the cooling season and once at end of the cooling season.  It's amazing what can work its way into those units over the winter!

Storms tonight.  Last night we had a pretty good gullywasher.  It won't help me get my ferns and lillies planted tonight but that's ok.  I have a feeling I'll be tired from work: presently I have the 1st hour of a 12 hour shift almost done.

Good Friday morning, everyone!  Looks like we had a  pretty good evening here last night.  That is definitely a good thing!  Here in the Metro Louisville area this morning, we have a temp of 70 degrees, supposed to hit 92 by this evening.  Then rain works it's way back in tomorrow, the ole "summer heat of the day" stuff.

Our Friday morning Doughnuts and Pastries are on the breakfast bar.  You've got all kinds of doughnuts, danishes, bagels, bearclaws and muffins just waiting for you all.

And coffee, tea, lemonade and juices are  ready to go.

.....And north of Louisville....it's 69 degrees and bright with just a light haze like in the sky.  Looks like sunshine and more heat today for our midwest central Indiana town....It's Summer.

Peeking in to see if everyone is enjoying the cool.  Yep - all the furniture is covered in people!

Sir Chicken - your video came out as all commercials.  Care to explain what happened?  We can do it w/o the pictures if we have to....

CW - I am going to stick with cold cereal.  Only thing that isn't too hot or heavy.

Dan - what is the exact date so we can all have a good cry....(I always cry at every wedding - even on tv!)

Heard a few train noises this morning.  BNSF must be moving a little more.  Send greenies, Joe.  Will need them for our tomorrow watching.

Off to find milk.

Mookie, I'll bring along an extra box of kleenex, also.  I have never cried at a wedding; if I need any, it'll be for my allergies.

Adrian, good to see you.   How is the weather in Delaware?  Is it as warm there, as in most of the U.S.?

So Mookie, and no one else has to go hungry, I've got our Friday Fish Fry set out on the warmer bar, and everything is all ready for you all to eat.  On today's menu:

1. Bass
2. Catfish
3. Perch
4.  Salmon patties
5.Clams
6.Rolled oysters
7. Jumbo butterfly shrimp

Side dishes:  corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, sauteed mushrooms & onion, baked beans

Desserts:  apple, peach, strawberry and pecan pies, along with ice cream and blueberry, apple, and peach cobblers.

Today is a classic summer day in Nebraska. Temperatures in the mid 90s, hot south winds, and a chance of severe evening thunderstorms. It doesn't get much better.

I will be off to Arby's at 5:00 PM for a short (2.75 hour) shift. Then tomorrow, I work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so it'll be a longer day.

I think I'll take some jumbo shrimp and a helping of peach pie before heading out the door. Dinner [dinner]

It's hot and windy here is Sioux Falls, right now we have a temperature of about 94 degrees and the humidity is sitting at about 41%. The wind is out of the south, south/west at about 15 to 17 MPH, which is typical for South Dakota.

I had a job interview this afternoon with the Culver's chain of restaurants, and it is looking promising. I sat down with a gentleman who's name is Corry, and he told me that based on the number of questions that I answered for him, he is going to recommend me to the upper level management. I am supposed to call this guy again this coming Monday afternoon. I initially told him that I would like to have a minimum of 15 hours a week with Culver's, but toward the end of my interview with him he asked me if I would be interested in taking on 20 to 25 hours per week, and without any hesitation I said "Yes!" When asked, I told him that I would be willing to work at any one of the other Culver's stores, and he told me that where they really need extra hands is out at the one store out by our Empire Mall on Louise Avenue.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I could find myself working for Culver's beginning next week and at $7.50 per hour. I told Corry that I am getting at the most, about 18 hours per week with my job at Wendy's and at $7.00 per hour. We shook hands on all this when we concluded my interview with him, and he told me that he would like me to call him back this coming Monday afternoon. He told me that if I am able to stay with Culver's long enough, I could end up in a management position. Now, that is something to think about!

It took me about an hour to walk home from this job interview, and knowing that I would be walking home in 90 degree heat plus, I chose to dress comfortably, no tie or sport coat. I would have cooked myself in the hot sun wearing a sport coat and tie.

I think it is now hot enough to cook an egg on the asphalt......

Thermometer on mirror spiked to 99 when I parked this evening in Oak Grove, KY, but it hung out around 88 or so rolling down the road.  Too hot to shut off the truck, will roast alive in the cab, so burning diesel.  Need to convince higher-ups to install auxillary power units, they burn about 1/10th the fuel....

Heading down to Albany, GA, with an interplant transfer for Millercoors, certain beers only get brewed at certain plants, they need this load to fill out some orders.

Should be in later, before headiing out in the morning to tackle Monteagle at a high rate of fuel consumption (should burn about three or four gallons pulling that hill......)

A wonderful fall day here in the north woods of NY.  Cloudy and cool - 70 would be an optomistic guess at the railroad.  Plus we got some light showers.  Actually made for decent working conditions, even if the kayakers got a little cool.  We gave 'em all a nice ride on the railroad.

Forecast for tomorrow is still looking at around 90, which will be fun at the French Festival.  I can remember to drink plenty of water, but can everyone else?  We always get at least one dehydration call, not to mention the occasional person who chose to rehydrate (sometimes to excess) with the alcoholic beverage of their choice...

Three more trips down toward certification as conductor.  Had a great conductor today who was more than willing to let me take the helm.

Time to gather up what I need for tomorrow and call it a night (right after I take the dog for a walk...)

For the fire people in here:  2 alarm in apartment complex (several 3 story buildings grouped together)  Half the city rigs are over there  - 2 aerials - the electricity is still on and heavy lightning in the area.

We don't pay those people enough!

Q - we keep our LFD busy that's for sure.  So many of them are cooking fires - they never get a proper supper hour.  This sounds like it started in an apt on 2nd and made it's way to 3rd before it was turned in.  For whatever reason, the 3rd floor person had to pull the alarm on the way out.

All our big fires seem to be caused by carelessness.  This will be another biggie.
